In news that is prolly surprising only to his most loyal Claymate fans, Clay Aiken has decided to come out of the closet and admit his homosexuality on the cover of the new issue of People magazine. Under the headline, Yes, I’m Gay (which is the same headline that Ellen DeGeneres and Lance Bass used when they came out of the closet on the cover of People), Clay also gives the world the first really good look of his newborn son Parker Foster Aiken who was born via surrogate mother (best friend and producer Jaymes Foster) on 08.08.08. People hits newsstands on New York and LA on Wednesday, and there new cover is a doozy. American Idol alum Clay Aiken and newborn son Parker pose for their first photos AND Aiken officially comes out. Parker Foster Aiken was born on August 8 in North Carolina to Aiken’s good friend Jaymes Foster, 50. The pair met when Aiken was a contestant on American Idol. He was in “Spamalot” on Broadway earlier this year and is returning now. Aiken has long remained silent about his sexuality. While he has legions of female fans called Claymates, but has also been referred to for years as Gayken by Kathy Griffin and has been allegedly solicited gay sex online.

Even tho I am not a Clay Aiken fan (in the least, I don’t like an thing that he does actually) I must commend him for taking this step into brave new territory for him and his family. This People magazine cover quotes him as saying “I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things” and I have to admit that he gets major props from me for coming to that conclusion. Parker can only benefit from his father’s honesty … I wish them well on their life’s journey together. So … thoughts?

The tool overeager radio DJ who leaked the snippet of Britney Spears‘s new single Womanizer last week (and was subsequently fined by Sony/BMG and removed from his job at his radio station because of it) is now talking to Tennessean.com in order to tell his side of the story … while he still can cuz in about 45 mins. no one is gonna even remember his name (which I’m confused about … the initial reports stated that his name is Adam Sevalia but this new article claims his real name is Adam Davis):

WRVW (The River) personality Intern Adam said today he has been taken off the air for leaking the new Britney Spears’ single, “Womanizer” on the radio station’s Web site. “I was the first person in the world who had this, the Britney Spears’ comeback single,” he said. “I got excited; I got eager. I wanted to get this out there already, so I did. And I guess I got a little too eager.” Intern Adam, whose real name is Adam Davis (and he’s not an intern), said he doesn’t yet know if he’s been suspended or fired from the station for which he’s worked since 2004. WRVW’s Rich Davis did not return a call today. Intern Adam, 25, taped the song during a Jive Records conference call with radio programmers and posted it on the station’s Web site. He said he never played the song on the air. He would not comment on whether anyone else at the station knew beforehand what he had done. “If anyone has ever listened to The River, they know I”m a big supporter of Britney Spears. It’s ironic that Britney’s biggest supporter on the air here is off the air because I played a Britney Spears song. I don’t know what is going to happen next,” he said. “All I can say is bad press is better than no press when you are off the air. Hopefully, I’m not fired. Hopefully they’ll let me back.”

See, it’s one thing to be a supporter of someone’s professional career but I find it highly unlikely he was out for anything other than his own fame at being the first person to leak the new Britney Spears track. Did he really believe he was helping Britney by leaking a snippet of a low quality, unfinished version of her new song? I really don’t think so. In the end, he acted extremely unprofessionally and I’m not surprised that Britney‘s record company is going after him and that his radio station employers have yanked him off the air. He’s really trying to ride this wave of “fame” for as long as he can … I hope he enjoys the ride. I doubt it’ll last much longer.

Here are a couple of kinda amazing photos of singer/songwriter Jason Mraz holding what looks to be a marijuana cigarette (or a joint, if you will) while backstage with Dutch television host Sascha Visser (who is not just holding a joint but is puffin’ on it, too). The photo has been captioned by the photo agency “Jason Mraz smoking a joint” but, in all fairness, the photos do not necessarily show that A.) Jason is holding an actual joint per se (it could be a hand-rolled tobacco cigarette) or that B.) Jason is smoking anything (he’s just holding it) … check ‘em out:

Now, we know for a fact that Jason likes to wield sharp cutlery while in his skimpy underwear but we do not know for a fact that he likes to smoke dope. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that he likes to engage in said enterprise but … well, let’s just let the photos speak for themselves. I gotta say, Jason Mraz‘s appeal has really grown on me in the past few months. I love his new album, I love his My Space updates and I love that pics like these exist. He looks fun. What do y’all think … is he puffin’ on the happy grass or do any of y’all think it’s just a regular ol’ hand-rolled tobacco cig?

Shannen Doherty is featured on the cover and in the pages of the October issue of Radar magazine and in her coverstory interview talks about a range of topics — from germophobia to shoeophilia — Shannen also poses for an “arty” photospread (cue the Oohs and Aahs). Here is what Shannen‘s Radar cover looks like and an excerpt from her interview:

On how it felt to be hated by the tabloids:
“I was exploring who I was as a person and testing my own boundaries and trying to be a normal 18-, 19-, 20-year-old, and I got raked over the coals. Many nights I cried myself to sleep over that stuff.”

On the worst lie she ever read about herself:
“There’ve been so many. One of those bullshit rags [wrote that I'd entered AA]. They said that I was so, quote, ‘scared of the drink’ that I was sleeping on my sponsor’s couch. Now, I’ve never been in AA. I accompanied my husband to AA meetings—actually, I forced him to go to one—but I’ve never actually gone for myself. Sometimes you can find some truth, a little nugget somewhere, but not one thing about this was true … But people sell their stories and make their 500 bucks at your expense, and it’s like, ‘Wow. Really?’”

Fascinating … well, not really. But, I am intrigued to read the whole interview tho, I mean, it’s Shannen Doherty … she’s gotta have something worth talking about, right? Well, OK, mebbe not … but perhaps they ask her about Tori Spelling again and she gets all pissy with the interviewer — that always manages to get a small chortle out of me. Now … I must say that I like her coverphoto very much … it’s simple, it’s nice. The rest of the photospread, tho, leaves much to be desired IMHO. The US debut of Kath & Kim is only about 2 weeks away and NBC is doing the final push to promote the series debut. As I’ve said all along, I’m going to give the show the full benefit of the doubt even tho I know it won’t be exactly like the amazing original Australian version of the show. I do trust, tho, that Molly Shannon and Selma Blair will be able to make me laugh … and that, over all, is what I’m most looking forward to. David and I had grand plans to check out the bar scene here in Reykjavik, Iceland last night … unfortch, our horse riding adventure from earlier in the day ended up getting the best of us. As the day/night wore on we got more and more sore … and tired. We ended up crashing underneath our insanely warm and comfy down blankets and pillows. At least we woke up refreshed and much less sore today :) We spent the early part of today in town doing a bit of shopping, pausing to snack on delicious Icelandic hot dogs (called pylsurs) and then spending some time at the National Museum of Iceland. Here are a few pics of our day today:

A portion of the museum was hands on so we were able to dress up as vikings … I think we look pretty hawt, no? I also kinda loved the wool hat with built in porn ‘stache … I think I like having a ‘stache — too bad I can’t grow one :( In about an hour we have to make our way to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa for some much needed pampering … oh man, I have been dreaming about this since I got here. Woot! I can’t wait. Tomorrow is our last day here in Iceland … I am gonna be very sad to leave … I just love it here. Earlier today we got sorta official confirmation that Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are, more or less, involved in a romantic relationship … and in completely unrelated Lindsay news, here are a few photos of Linds posing for a fashion magazine photoshoot at a private residence in the hills of Hollywood, CA yesterday afternoon:

In between takes, Linds puffed on an endless stream of cigarettes and chatted ceaselessly on the phone … most likely with girlfriend Samantha. As if I needed more reason to love me some Lindsay … I mean, I hate the smoking but I do love that she is so happily settled with Samantha — and is finally being open about it. They make a great couple and I hope they stay together forever. If Lindsay gives up the cancer sticks, she’ll be able to enjoy much more time with Samantha so … she should just quit already.

Here are a few pics from a recent live performance that Gavin Rossdale gave in SoCal at the Roots and Shoots Day of Peace Festival this past Sunday … as you can tell from these cute pics, Gavin had at least 2 fans in the audience who were there to see his live act:

Okay, I can’t be 100% certain that wifey Gwen Stefani and eldest son Kingston James were in the hiz to watch Gavin perform … but I’m gonna venture a guess that they were. It should be noted that Gwen and Gavin‘s newborn son Zuma Nesta Rock was NOT in attendance to support his dad’s live performance … which only goes to show that he is a bad son. Bad son! I am SO ready to get my first glimpse that little Zuma … bring it on, Gwen … we’ve waited long enough!

Yesterday we got to see the hilarious Grey’s Anatomy spoof that was featured on Jimmy Kimmel‘s Big Night of Stars pre-Emmy Awards special which starred Michael Phelps as Dr. McSwimmy … today we get to see a few outtake and behind the scenes photos from the filming of this Grey’s spoof:

Yeah, basically it’s just an excuse to post pics of Michael Phelps standing around in his tiny little Speedo. And, for the record, I stand by my assertion that Phlepsie was hilarious in this little spoof … how can you not lurve a man who has no problem showing off his hot bod while wearing only a Speedo and not much else (tho, I could do without the black socks and Crocs combo).
