Britney Spears Hits The Dance Studio

Get yer groove on
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Here are a few pics of our dear Britney Spears (with entourage/security detail) making her way into the International Dance Academy Hollywood in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday afternoon undoubtedly continuing work on her big musical comeback:

While her Mama Lynne Spears has been bizzy doing promo work for her just-released memoir Through the Storm, Brit Brit was bizzy gettin’ down to biz on her big comeback. As you may recall, Britney will be releasing her new album, titled Circus, on December 2 and I hear that she may be planning a big television performance for New Year’s Eve … and possibly a world tour after? I’m not holding my breath for a world tour just yet but I do believe that Britters is working on a big to-do to ring in the new year in style. I’m so excited, I could burst :) Keep doing your thang, Britney … we’ll be right here waiting.

PS: THIS song has been making the rounds as a rumored leaked song off of Circus but it sounds to me more like an unreleased track from the Blackout sessions. Just an FYI.

Lego Building Blocks Minifigures Turn 30 Years Old

Happy Anniversary!
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Lego Building Blocks is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their minifigures this year and in celebration, Lego has come up with a few cute little celebrity incarnations of their famous little Lego people. Normally yellow, these celebrity Lego people are flesh-toned and, in my estimation, are pretty damn good representations of the celebrities they portray … here are the Lego versions of Vicki B. & David Beckham, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and the twins Vivienne Marcheline & Knox Léon Jolie-Pitt:

Lego, the Danish plastic toy firm is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the minifigure. It has launched a website with videos and photos and is encouraging enthusiasts to enter a movie making contest to show their own interpretation of the minifigures’ adventures. The minifigure started off in 1978 as a largely featureless yellow figure but has since evolved to include realistic characteristics including skin colour and facial hair. The plastics toy firm has also produced ‘famous’ minifigure versions of characters from the big screen such as Spiderman, Darth Vader and Indiana Jones. Last month Lego announced that its half year profits have more than doubled, partly due to the success of its classic and movie/celebrity contracts.

I’m a BIG Legos fan from way back in the day. Nothing would give me more pleasure than building a model out of Legos and then smashing that model onto the tiled floor of our basement so that it would break into hundreds of pieces. Unfortch, I would smash the models so hard that some of the Lego blocks would break and my mom stopped buying them for me … but it was fun while it lasted. I think it’s awesome that Legos is having this much fun with the 30th anniversary of their minifigures. I know there are some Lego fans out there who prolly appreciate this as well, yes? So cute! My fave is the Becks one ;)

Lynne Spears Does ‘The Today Show’

Mama Lynne starts the promo rounds for her new book
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Mama Lynne Spears released her new memoir Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World yesterday (I already have my copy, I’m already a few chapters in) and this morning gave her first morning television interview to Meredith Vieira on The Today Show on NBC to promote the book. Here are a few screencaps from Mama Lynne’s appearance and some portions of her interview with Meredith:

Lynne Spears, whose daughters Britney and Jamie Lynn found both fame and infamy in a dizzyingly short amount of time, said her new book is an attempt to set the record straight. “I think there was the tabloid version of our lives,” she told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira in an exclusive interview Wednesday. “I wanted people to see our family as we really are.” Spears had begun the book, “Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World,” five years ago as a collection of poems and memories. But when controversy and scandal erupted first around Britney and then around Jamie Lynn, she decided she needed to tell the story the way it really happened to real people. “I have sat for hours thinking and thinking about everything that’s happened,” Spears, 53, explained. “It’s been a whirlwind. It’s been a wild ride for everybody.” Spears came to the conclusion that it was the mixture of Britney’s superstar celebrity status and the 24/7 coverage of the paparazzi, 17 of whom were assigned full-time to chronicle her every move, that spawned the “storm” in her title … The first hint of that ugly side came in 1999 when Britney, then just 17, appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine as a precocious woman-child dressed in little more than her underwear, hugging a stuffed toy and holding a telephone to her ear. The photos raised eyebrows. Spears said the family was simply overwhelmed. “The Rolling Stone interview, we were so in awe. She’s just beginning. She’s just coming on the scene. We didn’t really know what we were doing. “We were in shock at what was going on, and we were in awe. We didn’t have any choice in the pictures. We had no one that could tell us what we were supposed to be doing.” Lynne was having her own problems. She and Jamie Spears filed for bankruptcy in 1998. Jamie was an alcoholic, and the couple eventually divorced. Finally, Britney’s life started to fall apart. “It was so crazy at that time. I don’t think anybody was trying to sit and think what was going on,” Spears said of the darkest time, when Britney was committed to a hospital for psychiatric problems and Jamie Lynn was 16 and pregnant. “We were praying very hard, because it seemed like we were having no control over anything that was happening. We were trying.”

As I said, I’ve already read the first 6 chapters of the book (it’s a thin book, btw) and Lynne has already talked about her late sister Sandra, her marital problems with her then-husband Jamie Spears (ie. his drinking problem), that fatal accident where she killed a 12-year old boy and how her eldest child Bryan almost died — twice. I gotta say … the book is fascinating. I don’t expect to read any “dirt” on the Spears family in this book … in her prologue, Lynne warns off potential readers that her book will not dish on her famous daughters … but I am interested to hear Lynne’s side of the story that we think we know so well. Already she has painted a portrait of a family caught up in a whirlwind of fame — granted, it’s a whirlwind they happily and diligently pursued. I’m very interested to read her whole story.

After the jump, check out Mama Lynne’s entire interview with Meredith Vieria on The Today Show this morning and hear from the lady herself …

‘Eagle Eye’ Premieres In LA

'Eye' want to see this movie
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan and others were on hand at Mann’s Grauman Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA last night for the LA premiere of their new movie Eagle Eye. Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet arrivals last night:

Eagle Eye strikes me as a modern take on the classic novel 1984 where unknown, all-seeing forces are in control of people’s everyday lives … tho, unlike 1984, this movie focuses on the manipulation and exploitation of two strangers forced to carry out tasks for their survival. I must admit, I was very intrigued by the movie from the very first time I saw the movie trailer. I am totally fascinated by the overwhelming influence of technology on our everyday lives and the scenario presented in this film, while overly exaggerated, is one that could one day become a reality. I quite liked Shia LaBeof’s movie Disturbia which was a modern reinterpretation of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie Rear Window so I think I might enjoy this movie as well (tho, I hope that lawsuit against the makers of Disturbia works out OK). The movie opens next Friday … wee! I really hope it don’t suck.

Miley Cyrus Still Creepin’ With Justin Gaston

Oh, she's just being Miley
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Earlier this week, we saw a few photos of Miley Cyrus and hottie underwear model Justin Gaston spending some time together in Pasadena, CA last weekend (the pair and the Cyrus family attended some sort of church service together) and yesterday we got denials that two are dating (we were told that Miley and Justin are “just friends”) … but Hollywood.tv stumbled upon Miley and Justin (Mustin? Jiley?) and some friends (I think her alterna-rocker half brother Trace was with them as well but it’s hard to tell) at the Universal Citywalk in LA together last night … you know, hangin’ out:

Surely “just friends” go to the Citywalk to hang out and stuff but … I’m having a hard time understanding why a 20-year old guy would want to be “just friends” with a 15-year old girl he’s not romantically interested in (and, EW!). I dunno … this video looks very double-datey to me … what do y’all think?

I understand that Miley’s parents are totally cool with 20-year old Justin being “friends” (or whatever) with their 15-year old daughter (Billy Ray introduced them or something) … these are the same parents that OKed that infamous Vanity Fair photo in the first place and then bitched about it after the controversy got going … I’m just sayin’.

Kelly Taylor’s Babydaddy Revealed On ‘90210’

ATTENTION: '90210' SPOILER ALERT WARNING
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

OMG! Please tell me that y’all watched last night’s ep of 90210. It took 4 episodes but last night we FINALLY learned the identity of Kelly Taylor’s babydaddy. Now, I realize that this is really only an OMG moment for fans of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 … but for those folks (me, included) this revelation is pretty monumental. On the premiere ep of 90210 we learned that Kelly Taylor (played by Jennie Garth) was the mother of a 4 year old little blonde boy named Sammy. In the second ep of 90210, we learned that Sammy’s father was an old high school fling who Kelly reconnected with 4 years ago — and along came Sammy. At that point, speculation ran wild as to who could be the father. The 3 main candidates were Brandon Walsh (played by Jason Priestly), Dylan McKay (played by Luke Perry) and Steve Sanders (played by Ian Ziering):

So as not to ruin the surprise for those of you who have yet to see last night’s episode (shame on you, btw) I’ll keep the revelation behind the cut. After the jump find out if Kelly Taylor’s babydaddy is Brandon Walsh (who Kelly dated quite significantly and almost married in the later seasons of BH, 90210), Dylan McKay (who Kelly fought over with Brenda Walsh all thru their high school days) or Steve Sanders (who Kelly dated before the Walshs moved to Beverly Hills, who has natural blonde hair and whose mother’s first name is Samantha) …
