While George Takei and Brad Altman were just beginning married life together in downtown LA this weekend, “old married couple” Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were bizzy celebrating their 6 years of marriage at Mozza elsewhere in LA yesterday. It’s kinda hard to believe that Gwen and Gav have been married for 6 years! I mean … I know they’ve been married for a while but 6 years is a long time — in Hollywood, it’s a lifetime … several lifetimes. Now that the couple have 2 sons (Kingston James McGregor who is 2 years old and Zuma Nesta Rock who was just born in August) and 6 years of marriage under their belt, I have to wonder what is next for the happy couple. More kids? Probably. More years of happily wedded bliss? Definitely. These two are so awesome together … it warms my heart to know that real love like this can actually survive — anywhere. Congrats!!!

In happy nuptials news, longtime partners George Takei and Brad Altman finally took their stroll down the aisle together yesterday afternoon and entered the bonds of lawfully wedded bliss. You may recall that George and Brad were among the first California citizens who applied for their marriage licenses when same-sex marriage was legalized in the state back in June. This weekend, the grooms made it official with close friends and family to bless the occasion:

George Takei and his longtime partner, Brad Altman, were wed Sunday evening in a Buddhist ceremony in downtown Los Angeles. “All I can remember is what the priest said,” Takei told PEOPLE after the ceremony. “That this moment will never happen again. It’s something to savor.” Nearly 200 of the couple’s friends attended the event, which began as a kimono-clad koto player plucked out tunes on the ancient Japanese stringed instrument. Afterward, the couple sipped sake from red lacquer cups, then said their vows to one another while standing within a circle of yellow rose petals. A Scottish bagpiper led Takei, 71, and Altman, 54, to the reception on the grounds of the Japanese American National Museum. On the way, the couple, along with their maid of honor and best man (Takei’s former Star Trek co-stars Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig) flashed the “live long and prosper” hand sign to photographers and friends. “I was fighting back the tears,” said Nichols, who played Uhura on the Star Trek series. “But they came oozing out anyway. I’m so happy that they’re both able to legally proclaim their commitment to one another after spending the past 21 years together.”

Awww … I love these two together. It’s couples like this that make me so happy that same-sex marriage has finally been legalized in the great State of California. Much love and congrats goes out to the newlyweds … may they live long and happy lives together full of bliss and happiness. Mazel Tov!

UHHHH … whut? People magazine is reporting that Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson has gone and gotten herself engaged. Firstly, I had no idea that she was even seeing anyone seriously enough to be close to marriage. Secondly, I about fell my ass onto the floor when I learned who her new fiancée is. Did any of y’all watch the VH-1 “romantic competitive” reality TV show I Love New York (which was a spin-off of Flavor of Love, which was a spin-off of Strange Love, which was a spin-off of The Surreal Life)? If so, you might recognize J. Hud’s new hubby-to-be as the contestant who vied for Tiffany New York Pollard’s affection. On the show his name was Punk … in real life, apparently, his name is David Otunga:

Jennifer Hudson and boyfriend, David Otunga, have gotten engaged, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend David on Friday night in L.A.” says the rep. Otunga, who is known as “Punk” from the reality show I Love New York 2, popped the question with a Neil Lane diamond ring on the Dreamgirls Oscar winner’s 27th birthday. The couple, who have been dating less than a year, both hail from Chicago.

I must admit … I’m shocked, y’all. I would’ve thought that J. Hud was worthy of someone better than one of Tiffany Pollard’s cast-offs. “Dating less than a year” has got trubs written ALL over it. I’m sorry, I’m usually very positive about these sorts of things but … I can only see wreck and ruin in the future for J. Hud and Punk. I mean … really?! No, I just can’t see this one working out. Am I wrong?

Despite an “ankle injury” that kept her from fulfilling the arduous duty of judging the Project Runway Season 5 Finale Fashion Show in NYC last Friday (which would have required that she, gasp, sit in a front row seat and judge designs), Jennifer Lopez was able to miraculously complete the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in Malibu, CA yesterday morning/afternoon with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes and 28 seconds … imagine that. Jennifer Lopez had the support of several important men in her life as she successfully competed in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on Sunday, finishing the race in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 28 seconds. The singer-actress was cheered on from the sidelines by husband Marc Anthony, who escorted her to a VIP area with his arm securely around her after she crossed the finish line, exhausted, but with her fists pumped in victory. In the VIP area, Lopez met up with Matthew McConaughey, who also competed in the triathlon at Zuma Beach. The actor greeted his former Wedding Planner costar with a big hug. And Lopez was accompanied along the way by her trainer Gunnar Peterson, who was not racing himself, but was there to help out. Lopez, 39, has been training for the event – her first ever triathlon – with Peterson and Self magazine editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger. In August, she appeared on Good Morning America, boasting a positive attitude about her workout regimen. “I feel great,” she said on the show. “I have more energy – [and] I’m proud of myself.” She also revealed that she would be raising money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles … But for McConaughey, the event was all business. The actor (and fitness buff) had his game face on before the race as he stretched. Still, the actor broke his serious demeanor for a moment, though, when he spotted girlfriend Camila Alves – who spent some of the race time in the VIP area, holding son Levi in a baby bjorn. McConaughey left the line to give her a kiss and rub Levi before the swim began.

Whew! I’m so glad that Jenny’s “injury” was able to heal fast enough to allow her successful completion of this challenging triathlon. Jive/Zomba Records has just announced that Britney Spears will be releasing her new album, titled Circus, on December 2, 2008 (her birthday) with the disc’s first single, titled Womanizer, scheduled to be released to radio on September 22!!!!

Britney Spears has arranged a wonderful birthday present for herself: her sixth studio album, Circus, due for release Dec. 2 – the day she turns 27, her label announced Monday. Coming so soon after her triple victory – for video of the year, best female video and best pop video for “Piece of Me” – at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, Circus follows up her well-received 2007 album Blackout and continues the upward spiral the sometimes-troubled pop star has been experiencing. The Outsyders, described by Spears’s label, Jive records, as an up-and-coming Atlanta production team, have produced the first single from the album, “Womanizer,” which will drop Sept. 22. Other producers and writers with a hand in the album, according to Jive, include Dr. Luke (writer-producer of the title track, “Circus”), Danja, Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant and Guy Sigsworth – who’s collaborated with such other artists as Madonna, Alanis Morissette and Bjork.

OMG!!! We finally have a release date!!!!! OMG!!! She’s working with Max Martin and Bloodshy & Avant again!!!! OMG!!! This is amazingly exciting news … let the comeback commence, y’all :)
