Stephen Baldwin Believes ‘Gossip Girl’ Is Bad For Your Soul

I respectfully disagree
Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Stephen Baldwin, who you may or may not know has converted into some manic crusader for religious morality, was on hand to speak at the Values Voter Summit in Washington DC yesterday in order to rail against the immoral values that he believes are promoted by the TV series Gossip Girl. Stephen, with GG ad posters in hand, spoke at the conservative summit of his outrage at Hollywood’s use of provocative images to lure audiences … here are a few pics:

I mean, I’m all for his right to have an opinion on matters like this, just like I can have my opinion … but it does worry me that conservative groups like this tend to rally together in order to work out an agenda that seeks to limit the free speech and expression of others … whether it be in the arts, in film or in television. I suspect, since Gossip Girl is based on a series of books, these conservative-minded people would also like to curtail books that promote, what they believe are, immoral values as well … which is kinda a short step away from book burning, in my opinion. I post my thoughts on this only because, as I said, it really worries me that social conservatives work so hard to curtail freedoms in this country. Just because they believe something is “immoral” or “sinful” then it should be taken away from other grown adults who might have a different viewpoint or may enjoy what they consider wrong. I would be much more comfortable if these folks got together to complain to one another and seek support in their beliefs in one another — and that was that. Make no mistake, these folks want to curtail the availability of things that they find “immoral” and I vehemently oppose their efforts. It’s scary, y’all … ever stop to think what other things these people might find “immoral” enough that they would like to take away from you? Things on the internet perhaps?

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Gossip Girl continues filming new eps for their second season on the streets of NYC this week and he was snapped shooting a kissing scene with one of his GG co-stars … and you’ll never believe who it is:

Now, because this scene involves an ep that hasn’t aired yet, I’ll keep the revelation behind the cut for those of you who do not wish to be spoiled by these pics. After the jump, those of you who are dying to know who Chace (or, his character Nate rather) is making out with can see a few more pics …

Gentleman Prefers Blonde

The TV Guide
Saturday, September 13th, 2008

So … as THIS post kinda hinted, I went ahead and decided to bleach the hell out of my hair and go for the blond look. Hee hee, I realize that it in no way looks natural at all but I’ve been totally bored with my hair lately so I decided to just go for it:

My amazing hairstylist friend Josh Rosebrook did an amazing job, I love it! The last time I bleached my hair was back in college when I lived in Oklahoma. I really liked it then but since my hair grows so fast I wasn’t able to keep up with the roots … I was pretty broke back then :) I’m not sure if the blond is gonna stay for long but … it’s fun, I love it and there you go. I held off on posting a pic because I wanted to surprise David upon my arrival last night … I was successful and thankfully, he likes it :)

I have to give a shout-out to Pink readers Tiffany (pictured below) and Mirie who I met at the airport:

It was really great meeting you both.

This afternoon, David and I are hanging out with his family who are in town for his early birthday celebration … not sure what’s on the agenda but it should be fun. NY was rainy last night but it’s sunny and warm today … happy day!

Michael Phelps Prepares For ‘Saturday Night Live’

Sen. Barack Obama pulls out of 'SNL' cameo
Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Tonight is the night that 14-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps will make his comedic acting debut as he hosts the season premiere of Saturday Night Live live from NYC. It was previously reported that Senator Barack Obama would be making a cameo on tonight’s season premiere ep but due to the severity of Hurricane Ike (which is currently pounding the Southern portion of the country) he has decided to postpone his appearance out of respect for those dealing with the storm’s onslaught. A wise choice, I think. But, it’s full steam ahead for Phelpsie to take the hosting reigns for tonight’s show. Here is a screencap from a video that Access Hollywood posted online from Phelpsie’s SNL rehearsals:

Michael Phelps steps out of his chlorinated comfort zone to host the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, treading the same stage where his comedy idol Chris Farley once got big laughs. The swimmer who won a record-setting eight gold medals at last month’s Olympics has been riding a pop culture wave since Beijing, making the rounds of the TV talk shows, presenting at MTV’s Video Music Awards and being gossiped about in the tabloids. Phelps follows in the athletic footsteps of such jocks as LeBron James, Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan, who also hosted NBC’s late-night sketch show. “I was a little nervous coming into this whole thing, but I’ve actually started to get really, really excited,” Phelps said Thursday on a conference call from New York. “I’m definitely looking forward to Saturday. This is a completely new experience for me, but something that is going to be pretty fun.” He hopes to connect by phone with Ashton Kutcher for some comedy tips, having met the actor’s wife, Demi Moore, at the VMAs, where she offered help. Hosting the show’s 34th season opener has made Phelps the envy of his friends. Swimming rival Ryan Lochte may be particularly jealous since the show’s musical guest is Lil’ Wayne, Lochte’s favorite rapper and someone Phelps likes, too. Among the sketches under consideration for the 90-minute show are ones involving his mother, Debbie, the skintight body suit he swims in, and his eight gold medals. “Anything you can imagine, they nailed just about every topic,” Phelps said of the show’s writers. He laughed at a suggestion that he’ll take off his shirt to reveal his rock-hard abs. “If it happens, it happens,” he said. “It’s all in good fun. I’m along for the ride.” Taking the stage alone for the opening monologue worries Phelps more than stepping on the starting block in China did. “I’m more nervous doing this than I was swimming in Beijing,” he said. “But after readthroughs, I started getting into it and started warming up. I felt completely confident today.” That doesn’t mean Phelps should leave his watery world for show biz, though. “There’s no question about him getting it and being funny and knowing what to do,” said Lorne Michaels, the show’s executive producer. “He’s certainly not going to be a professional sketch player, but I think he’ll do just fine. “No matter what happens they can’t take those medals away.”

Click HERE to watch the Access Hollywood video in full. Because Senator Obama was scheduled to make his cameo on the show tonight, NBC reportedly got Tina Fey to agree to appear with him playing the role of Sarah Palin. I understand that she may still make her cameo tonight (which I can’t wait to see … it will be BRILLIANT!). I am really looking forward to tonight’s season premiere ep … I am curious to see if Michael Phelps has got what it takes to pull off hosting duties on SNL. Do y’all think he can do it?
