Got some good news and some sad news for fans of Sarah McLachlan … on the upside, Sarah Mac is releasing a greatest hits album in early October which features two new songs U Want Me 2 and Don’t Give Up on Us … on the downside, those songs were inspired by Sarah’s separation from her husband of 11 years, Ashwin Sood :( Looks like they’re dunzo, y’all:

The two new songs on Sarah McLachlan’s upcoming greatest hits album — “U Want Me 2″ and “Don’t Give Up on Us” — come from an extremely personal place. “I’m separating from my husband, so these are the songs about that,” McLachlan told Billboard.com. She’s been married to Ashwin Sood, who plays drums in her band, for 11 years. The couple, who reside in Vancouver, has two daughters, six-year-old India and Taja Summer, 14 months. “I wasn’t planning on saying anything,” McLachlan added, “but it’s gonna come out at some point. I haven’t said anything about it because I’ve been terrified to, but I figure … there’s no good time to say it, so I just said it.” McLachlan called the situation “pretty gross” but did not elaborate on reasons for the separation or the couple’s future plans … McLachlan wrote both songs with her longtime producer Pierre Marchand. She described “U Want Me 2″ as “about that really uncertain, confusing place at the end of a relationship when there’s no communication or closure, everything’s still up in the air and there’s a lot of anger and sadness. It’s sort of that working through ‘How do we move forward … with some dignity and grace.” “Don’t Give Up,” she said, is “pretty self-explanatory, basically just a plea to give it another chance and keep trying.”

I know this is prolly pretty random for those of you who aren’t all that familiar with Sarah McLachlan but I’m a big fan and this is really bummer news. If I recall correctly, Sarah’s hubby Ashwin was also her percussionist on tour (they spent quite a bit of time together on the road during the Lilith Fair days) and they have one child two daughters (thanks Nicole). One of my fave Sarah Mac songs, Ice Cream, was inspired/written for Ash. I’m very disheartened to learn that her break-up from her husband is described as “pretty gross” :( I hope these new songs will help Sarah heal from the dissolution of her marriage … sad news.

OMG … Wednesday night’s ep of Project Runway was so damn good … it was full of all the things I love most about the show. An inventive challenge, surprise guests, TWO eliminations … and, of course, Nina Garcia:

At long last, Nina returned to Project Runway after not appearing on the previous two eps … it was very awesome to have her back, especially since she took great care to rip apart some of the horrible messes that were paraded in front of her on the runway. Earlier this week we saw the first pics of Matthew McConaughey embarking on his new mission to become a triathlete as he began a triathlon training regimen in Malibu, CA. Here are a few new pics of Matthew continuing his training here in SoCal getting in some biking and running exercise:

Unfortch for us, none of the water training was on yesterday’s agenda. I dunno, I mean … I don’t mind AT ALL the supertight spandex shorts but there is something about a man wrapped in rubber from head to toe that is strangely … appealing. Mebbe it’s some sort of superhero attachment or something … whatever it is, I can’t wait for more pics of Matty boy donning his neoprene ensemble to come out. Oh yes, I think I can get quite used to seeing pics of Matthew’s triathlon training. Am I wrong? ;)

Project Runway season 4 winner Christian Siriano presented his first official fashion show at New York Fashion Week last night. You may recall that Christian won his season of Project Runway back in February of this year so this was the first New York Fashion Week since his win … and he has already presented his first, solo collection — not bad for a kid, I think. Here are a few pieces from his show:

It’s always nice to attend a show where the audience is clearly filled with fans. They break into spontaneous applause when they like what they see and you can actually feel a difference in the crowd’s energy. Christian Siriano has a lot of fans, Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Becki Newton and several of the “Project Runway” executive producers among them. And his first runway collection played to them. For his first real collection, Siriano showed more refined versions of that final collection that won him the “Project Runway” top prize. There were ultra-skinny pants and poufy tops, some even shown with a giant picture hat, all in gray. He stretched himself with some of the skirts in his black group. There was a really well-cut peg shirt (read mini culottes), a high-waisted paperbag pleated skirt and even a ballerina skirt. Of course, he threw in his signature circle shirts and gowns in which circles of chiffon in varying sizes are embroidered for volume, all of which received spontaneous bits of applause.

There is no question that Christian is an insanely talented designer. I really loved all the pieces that he showed in this, his first fashion show. You can really see his trademark design style in the pieces … as well as his love of very large hats. I’m glad to see there was quite a bit of bold color mixed in as well, I love black but too much black is not very inventive. Kanye West went and got himself busted by the popo at LAX Airport yesterday morning when the irritable Hip-Hop star was trying to get the hell out of LA. Kanye and an overzealous bodyguard didn’t take too kindly to being photographed by the paparazzi so they each decided to snatch the cameras out of the photog’s hands and smash them into the ground, breaking them into many pieces. Once Kanye realized that he was being videotaped by TMZ, he tried to snatch that camera away so he could smash that one too … fortunately for the TMZ dude, the cops interceded before he could snatch away the camera. Kanye tried to run, the TMZ dude alerted the police … and Kanye ended up getting his butt arrested:

A still photographer was trying to take pics of Kanye at the American Airlines terminal. According to our guy on the scene, Kanye allegedly confronted the photog and smashed his camera to the ground. Our photog then began videotaping the scene when Kanye’s bodyguard grabbed our camera — a struggle ensued and the bodyguard threw the video camera to the ground, breaking it. When Kanye realized our camera guy had videotaped the incident, he rushed our guy and yelled, “Gimme that fucking tape!” Both Kanye and his bodyguard have been arrested and will be booked.

It didn’t take long for both Kanye West and his bodyguard to be released from custody … but it wasn’t a quick enough process that Kanye was able to catch his flight, oops:

I mean … chill out, dude. Either Kanye West isn’t a morning person or he’s really not into the whole celebrity thing … contrary to his ever-boastful nature. Click HERE to watch the TMZ video of Kanye freaking out at LAX Airport yesterday morning. I expect this won’t be the very last thing we hear about this incident. Paparazzi are notorious for following thru with lawsuits. Tsk tsk.
