It’s hard to believe that it’s been seven years since the tragic day that changed our nation forever. Today marks the 7th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in NYC and The Pentagon in Washington DC. I believe that today is a day for reflection of what happened on that day, remembrance of those lost and celebration of the ones we hold most dear. It is my sincere hope that each and every one of you who would normally come to my site for fun goss and hopefully witty commentary, will instead spend that time today reading thru the horrifyingly long list of names of those lost in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, American Airlines Flight 11, American Airlines Flight 77, United Airlines Flight 93 and United Airlines Flight 175 seven years ago today:

We can also look forward to the future as construction continues at ground zero on the new incarnation of the World Trade Center building. We’ve come a long way in our healing process, I think, but I believe it is very important to pause in reverence of those lost on that fateful day.

I live in New Zealand. I remember waking up on the 12th to my dad running downstairs to turn on the tv after hearing it on the radio. I think it has changed the world forever with the increase of security.

September 11th, 2008 at 2:06 am
Thank you for posting this powerful memorial. Cora Holland was a wonderful woman. Her children are always in my thoughts on this day, especially Jessica.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:31 am
I suggest you also post a list of names of victims of U.S. invasion to Iraq and of the attacks on civilians in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, that might take a much bigger space.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:01 am
How about alist of all Iraqi and Afghani people killed by the US military.
believe me, the list is longer.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:50 am
Ahh, opinions… what makes the world so diverse.
On one hand, the terrorist attacks on Sept 11th was a senseless attack. At least the military in Afghanistan seem to have a purpose of being there..apparently.
Killing is disgusting and ultimately unjustifiable. Period. Many innocent lives on both sides since that morning. Yelling at eachother saying ‘NOBODY CARES’ or ‘you arabs need to shove it up your asses’ doesn’t change anything, just further underlines human anger, which is the common denominator for all this bloodshed.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:52 am
Thank you for posting that…I was friends with Leonard Snyder who was lost in the towers….it’s a nice rememberance every year.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:06 am

September 11th, 2008 at 4:20 am
thank you for posting this every year!
September 11th, 2008 at 4:43 am
Ok, I’m really sorry for all those people and of course this tragedy will never be forgotten, but it’s been 7 years. 7 years! Can we stop living in the past?!
September 11th, 2008 at 4:47 am
Thanks you so much for doing this every year. I think it’s a poignant reminder to cherish our loved ones because none is promised tomorrow.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:57 am
i was young when the planes hit in 2001, and the event really never had much of an impact on me until reading this post. i had never seen how long the list of names was. i know that the number of people who have died in iraq and afghanistan is greater, but this isn’t a contest! always remember and honor those who have died, not just at the WTC or on sept 11, but anywhere and at any time. like a previous comment says: realize what you’ve got. spend time with your family, tell them you love them, because you may not be able to do it later.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:59 am
Thanks for posting this Trent. I think too many people have forgotten, and it’s important that we don’t ever forget!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:13 am
Trent, what about the TWO MILLION Iraqi and Afghani victims the USA made since that day?
September 11th, 2008 at 5:16 am
Thanks for putting aside the non important Hollywood news for a bit to publish something far more meaningful.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:16 am
Honestly, I had gotten up this day like any other day and when I pulled up your blog it was a reminder of what this day truly is. Thank you so much for posting something that remindes us of these individuals and the sensless loss of vibrant life that day. It absolutely brings tears to my eyes every year when I see the how long the list of names is. Once again thank you.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:24 am
Thank you for doing this and allowing us all to take a moment or two to remember …..it is a day to reflect on those we lost and those who were left behind
September 11th, 2008 at 5:27 am
remember people …when it comes down to it on this day we all have to realise we are not for or against john mCcain or barrack obama ..put to the back party affiliation and political views ..we are all AMERICANS ..we can ALL feel we lost a part of an AMERICAN family ..no religion or color ..no political side ..republican or democrat ..in the end every american is my FAMILY PERIOD …just my feelings on it ..GOD BLESS AMERICA
September 11th, 2008 at 5:27 am
Thank you for posting this every year. This had a huge impact on my life, and my heart and prayers go out to those you lost loved ones. <3
September 11th, 2008 at 5:36 am
I think you should all really get over this. There are many worse things that happen everyday, famine in africa, wars all over the world, neglected animals and children etc etc the list goes on and on. Why dont you think about those thigs and make a difference? You only care about whats on your doorstep. WAKE UP and think of someone else for once!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:40 am
Thanks for posting this Trent. Even though you have negative people who think that we need to “get over” the fact that so many lives were lost. Yeah, they are probably right… we should just “get over” it and never remember any of those people again….
and then you have people that think this blog just isn’t good enough because you should mention everyone who has lost their lives in Iraq… it will never be good enough huh Trent? You try and do something heart felt and there will always be those few people who have to make negative comments….
September 11th, 2008 at 5:47 am
thank you for posting this Trent.
& to those w/ the negative attitudes – take it elsewhere.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:10 am
Thank you Trent for posting this as a true American would. It is sad that a day that should bring people together and bring out consideration and kindness in all is bringing out the worst in people. I live on Long Island, New York and know hundreds of people who lost their lives, and about six that were very close to me. Anyone who doesn’t have anything nice to say should not comment. This is a painful and sad day for people who actually have a heart.
Rest In Peace and Never Forget <3
September 11th, 2008 at 6:17 am
Thank you, Trent. Although I personally didn’t know anyone who lost their lives that day, I know people who lost friends, family or co-workers. We all lost something that day, but also gained awareness, resolve and pride.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:26 am
Trent, definately a labor of love to put all those names up there…Alex Steinman was a former HS classmate of mine.
Never Forget
September 11th, 2008 at 6:27 am
thanks, trent.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:32 am
Thank you Trent. I came to your site knowing I would find this. I appreciate that you do this every year. We really must never forget. -D
September 11th, 2008 at 6:34 am
Hey. I’m a Singaporean and 10 then, but it did affect me profoundly as i saw the towers collapse on tv. till now, the number of names still affect me. I think that it is a good thing to remember and reflect, especially the heroic attempt by the passengers of one plane to prevent more deaths from occurring.
Yes. There are many more fatalities in Iraq and Afghanistan, but this wouldn’t have happened if the world trade center wasn’t bombed. True, there are worse things happening in the world today, but is spending one day reflecting on the senseless deaths that horrible?
September 11th, 2008 at 6:42 am
Rest in Peace……we will never forget.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:58 am
While I think it’s nice that you, Trent, like to remember 9/11 each year, it doesn’t mean everyone has to agree. Yes there are many others in the world we must remember (those dying in this War, those who died at Pearl Harbor, WWI, WWII etc.) If you don’t like what he’s blogging, then don’t read it today :)
Though Trent, it would be nice to have some equality, Pearl Harbor was where my gerat grandfather died, and maybe others have family who died in the war. Tragic things that should be remembered, but are usually forgotten because of the lapse in time. Sadly, it will eventually be the same for the World Trade Center as well.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:06 am
We will never forget or GET OVER IT. . . I would hope on this day those of you who have Negative thoughts would please keep them to yourselves:)
and Trent you will never make everyone happy. . . just worry about yourself and F**K everyone else.
Keep up the good work :)
September 11th, 2008 at 7:12 am
That’s certainly a sobering, heartbreaking list – really hits hard to see all their names there like that.
My thoughts and prayers to everyone that’s been affected by the tragedies of 9/11 and also to the whole of the USA.
May God shine a light on the FDNY.
Sarah, Ireland.

R.I.P. guys!
Ok, so don’t forget:
-do NOT vote in Bush’s clone Sarah “redneck-gunlover-crazyfundamentalist” Pallin in order to put an END in this nonsense war in Iraq.

September 11th, 2008 at 7:23 am
What happened on September 11, 2001 is not something I am likely to forget anytime soon. I doubt it is something that anyone else will forget, given how much that day has changed the dynamics of nations, governments and people. I’ve been trying to understand this phrase, “Never forget.” What is it that we must never forget? Is it the unspeakable harm that men can do to one another, so that we never repeat such harm? Or is it something a little less noble: are we failing to forget our anger and indignation? There is always tragedy when a person dies unexpectedly (whether it be from a sudden heart attack or from random street violence). That tragedy is magnified thousand-fold when it happens to many in one place and at one time. It is compelling to us because it happened on our soil. It should make us understand how families in Hiroshima, Japan, Georgia (the country), Iraq, Israel and other places where bombs and missiles take sudden and heavy death tolls. I think such great tragedy should not be remembered just for the great tragedy (what purpose is that? to hold on to grief?), but to inspire us to pray for peace and to seek peace, not just for overselves but everyone in this world.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:26 am
This is a wonderful thing you do every year Trent, very respectful, thank you.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:35 am
As a New Yorker I thank you Trent . I am currently in the city for all of the memorials today, in a city where normally everything is so fast paced it all slows down for today. And for all of you with the negative attitudes, I dare you to say what you scribe to anyone who lost a loved one on 9/11. I believe that all of this “courage” you have while hiding behind a computer screen will disappear.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:39 am
I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was at work, then our corporate offices called and told us to close the doors and go home and be with our loved ones. I was glued to the tv for 2 days. This is a nice rememberence that you do every year. I have my flag flying proudly today.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Trent,
I know you get crap for doing this every year and I have no idea why. I am extremely grateful for the reminder of the innocent US citizens and brave US soldiers who have lost their lives in the last seven years. When I think about all of the freedoms I enjoy – I can’t help but say a silent “Thank you” to all of the soldiers, including my grandfathers, uncles, cousins and countless friends, who have fought so hard for the freedoms I enjoy every day. Politics aside whether you support the war or not, ALWAYS support the men and women that are doing their jobs to protect our country.
To all of those people that say to get over it and drop it – how can you? I can remember the exact moment when I found out. How idiotic I felt for being pissed about the calculus test I was taking when the first plane hit. How insignificant everything else became. I can remember being terrified because I couldn’t find my mom. I remember the fear of not knowing what else could happen. I remember being glued to the television. Most of all, I remember the horror as I watched the towers collapse. Those images, those feelings, are forever burned into my memory. Even if I could, I will never forget!
Thank you so much Trent! Don’t let the negativity get to you.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Trent, thanks for posting this, as someone who comes from the DC area and remembers spending this day praying that my father would come home in one piece.
Dems and Reps, Indies and Centrists, let’s follow the examples set by Barack Obama and John McCain and put partisan politics aside today. We’re all Americans, and just Americans, on 9/11. We’ll always remember.
The same goes for the rest of the world. Many who died in the World Trade Center were from other countries from all over the world. No matter where you are, I think we can all say a prayer or take a moment to remember all the people that were lost seven years ago today.
Thank you again Trent. Keep up the great work.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Thanks Trent for posting. For those of you with negative comments, the point of the post is today is 9/11, the day of the attacks, hence the reason for the post on today – 9/11 – get it?!
September 11th, 2008 at 7:45 am
Thank you for the beautiful tribute, Trent. It brings tears to my eyes to see the names listed like that, it really has an impact. God bless the families of those we lost.
PEACE PEACE PEACE PEACE PEACE PEACE PEACE
September 11th, 2008 at 7:46 am
Trent,
Iv been reading your blog for over 3 years. I think this is great what you do every year. I woke thismorning thinking I had to come on and read every name and say a prayer. I do every year. Thank you for doing this. Its something I look foward to every year. I sit and read the names while tears come down my face. I agree we need to remember the men and woman fighting for us. But on this day I like how its just the people who lost their lifes this bad bad day 7 years ago.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:47 am
PS
End this war!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! US OUT OF IRAQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our brave women and men and so many innocent Iraqis have been disfigured, maimed and killed…and for what?
Vote for Obama. It’s the only chance we have of PEACE and CHANGE!!

__I agree with your thoughts Nicola!
It wasn’t just Americans who lost their lives on 9/11. There was a number of people from other countries that died on this sad day. I think it is a wonderful symbolic gesture to have people from other countries help read the names today. We are all ONE people.
September 11th, 2008 at 7:54 am
Thanks for posting this, it’s beautiful. God Bless America <333
September 11th, 2008 at 8:05 am
to THE PUNISHER….
It’s because people like you that we can no longer distinguish between “evil arabs” or “retard racist- americans” – with all my respect to the decent US people. You are all barbarians. Read world history and learn something about the mistakes we made in the past. You did not “win” in Vietnam, you will not “win” in Iraq. You’re just going to win more casualties, more memorials, more hate.
Respect the memory of those who died and had nothing to do with this irrational racism.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Thank you, as always, for this post, Trent.
Peace.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:20 am
You are a wonderful and compassionate person Trent. I’m glad that you post this every year.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:33 am
WOW. I can’t believe it has been 7 years. It still seems like yesterday! Good job posting this dude. I know it means a lot to a lot of people. Keep it up. Thanks again and GOD BLESS AMERICA!! AMERICA IS THE BEST LAND AROUND AND NO ONE SHOULD EVER FORGET IT!!!!
September 11th, 2008 at 8:46 am
Trent, thank you once again for posting your unfortunate 9/11 post. I’ve read it since the first one and will continue to every year. This day still plays in my mind like it was yesterday and I’m sure for the millions effected by if it’s like a nightmare that hasn’t ended yet. Your support and humbleness is heartwarming.GOD BLESS AMERICA!

September 11th, 2008 at 9:00 am
As a long time reader of your blog, Trent, I thank you deeply for posting this. This is an event that should be remembered, having a tremendous impact on the world as we know it today.
This isn’t something you just “get over”, in the way that some of these negative comments implicate. It isn’t a matter of “living in the past”. Yes, life moves on, and it has for many, even for the families and friends of the victims (knowing quite a few of them myself). Yes, there are many tragedies around the world, and many innocent lives lost, and today doesn’t seek to demean any of that. But what this day represents is but a moment in time for us to remember the many who lost their lives in a senseless and needless tragedy — a moment in time that would not even impede one’s day-to-day activities.
As a New Yorker, an American, and a human being, I’d ask for these naysayers to just take a *moment* to respect today for what it is to many — a day in which we just reflect on those lives lost, and our own lives, and how this event has changed that.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:18 am
thank you for posting this i swear i’m in tears god 7 years later and it still breaks my heart RIP gone but never forgotten
September 11th, 2008 at 9:20 am
Thank you, Trent for keeping us all focused on what is truly important today. I applaud you for doing this each and every year. It is humbling to scroll through ALL those names and to remember that each and every name had a full life that was cut short so brutally.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:26 am
God bless every single person who died that day. Its really a shame the reason why they lost their lives. And it could have been prevented. but thank you for posting this. It get me every single year
September 11th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Great post Trent. I was out of the country from July 2001 – Dec 2003, so I missed out on the experience that everyone here had during that difficult time. Although I wish it had never happened, I loved how it brought all Americans together. I do feel bad for other countries and the losses going on there, but I am an American first, and I will defend MY country and MY history first. The Iraqis can honor their dead and we will honor ours. Innocent people will always die when countries are at war. That’s why we need to end the war, but not until we finish what we started.
The reason we can never forget Pearl Harbor and 9/11 is because all Americans are to blame for what happened, or at least the perception of Americans is to blame. We need to get our country in order, get back on our feet, and then work on how the world perceives us. We are amazing, and we need to stand up and show everyone out there that we are.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Thank you Trent. I’m not American, but I feel the devastation and grief of that day in my heart as palpably as if I were. It is a day to put aside our differences, our political opinions and remember the terrible loss of life and innocence that happened that day. The power of looking at all those names is unspeakable. Thank you for your abiding gesture of humanity.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:28 am
I was there that day. I was a tiny seventh grader is middle school. So thanks for posting this, it is much appreciated.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Trent, thank you so much for continuing to observe 9-11. Your approach of keeping it simple and focusing on the day itself is the most respectful I’ve seen on-line, and as a native of the New York area who also attended college in NYC I fully appreciate your gentle reminder to other readers for whom 9-11 might not resonate as strongly with. To some, seven years is “long enough” and we need to “move on” but its still a jolt to see the name of a friend’s parent or loved one on the list, and a reminder that I was very fortunate that all my family friends and relatives that work in the financial district and for the FDNY got home safely. I remember getting sent home from school early that day and watching tv with my family. My Dad told me that for his generation, everyone can recall exactly where they were when they found out JFK was killed, and that now this tragedy would be a defining moment for mine.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:48 am
Thank you.
September 11th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Thank you. This is one of those events that people will always remember where they were when they heard about it and how much it has deeply impacted our lives. Either fortunately or unfortunately, that day is ingrained in my mind as I’m sure it is in yours also. Thank you again.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Trent,
I am not one to leave comments normally b/c I don’t really care if people know how I feel about something. But I wanted to comment to you directly because this touched my heart so deeply. This is one of the classiest things I have seen in a long time. The only thing that matters today is this list of people who lost their life all within a span of three hours. Not politics… not opinions of the war…. not race…. not religion… nothing matters today except this list of names. I’ve seen many video tributes, audio tributes, written tributes…. but nothing as affective as this simple list of names. Even the “reading of names” didn’t do to me what scrolling through this list did. So many, many page down clicks…… incredibly moving.
You are a true American gentleman. You have now been added to my daily prayers…. no matter if you want to be or not ;)
September 11th, 2008 at 10:10 am
Thank you for this Trent. It is still important to a lot of us to remember this day and take a moment of silence. That list reminds me why many of my friends are in the armed forces.
:)
September 11th, 2008 at 10:11 am
My goodness all you haters…it’s a blog!!! Trent’s opinions and what he see’s fit to print, if you don’t like it, don’t read it.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Thank you for posting this wonderful tribute to the people who die needlessly and tragically that day…you just became my new favortie site for this.
My Uncle at the time worked at the Pentagon, he was a carpenter there…they have a lot of doors…anyway he was there when the plane hit and he helped pull people out and organize help for the injured, it changed him as a person to personally witness that kind of devastating tragedy live and in person…and this day will be remembered forever.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:13 am
and thank you trent, your compassion shines through on days like today. <3
September 11th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Thank you Trent. No matter how many years go by it will always be so important to take this day to remember what was lost. Daniel Patrick Trant was the uncle of one of my very best friends-may he and all the others rest in peace.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:21 am
thank you for continuing to do this trent.
September 11th, 2008 at 10:46 am
I actually forgot it was the 11th until I looked at pink this morning, and I’m not one who really has a lot of emotion invested in this day. That said, after looking at the comments I must say to those of you who keep telling people to “get over it”, clearly that isn’t going to happen any time soon and can’t you go without your celebrity news for 1 day? Go onto another website. Get over your obsession with celebrities and let the people have their 1 day of memorial.

To all those saying that Trent needs to post the names of everyone dying in wars or the terrible famines/genocides in Africa or anywhere else in the world, just remember that this blog is meant to entertain. Trent makes an effort to form as personal a relationship with his readers as he can, and he knows this is important to a lot of people. I know I read it every year. If he focused on something like this every day, listing names of people who had died in Iraq, his blog wouldn’t be fit for E!, it would be fit for The New York Times. That’s not why we come here daily, to escape. He can take this one day.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:10 am
thank you trent. the negativity towards this post confuses me. this was a life changing/world altering day. yes deaths in wars is sad… but this is something totally different. thank you for doing this everyyear. u are always appreciated.

September 11th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Thanks again for the reminder this year Trent! I am glad that there are so few negative comments from other readers unlike last year. I will always remember the morning I woke up hearing on the radio and then off to my second week of college to sit in class and have my teachers wheel in the big screen tv so we could all watch what was happening. Im Canadian and have many family members in the military and they strive everyday to prevent this kind of tragedy fromhappeing again. We must also remember Air France flight 8969 in 1994, as they foiled a terrorist attempt on the Eifel Tower in Paris. Let the three who lost there lives be also remembered on this day.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:30 am
I feel so awful for everyone who was involved in this tragedy, I will never forget that day it will be one of those stories that you tell little kids when you are old similar to the way my mother told me about hearing that JFK had been assassinated. I recently saw pics of ground zero from recently & it’s very creepy but the city still thrives around it. That’s part of the beauty of NYC, it will bounce back, it always does!!
September 11th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Just wanted to thank you for this post. I came here today specifically to see this. I can’t believe it has been seven years.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Trent, just wanted to thank you for posting this. You do it every year and it’s greatly appreciated. Christopher (Buddha) Clarke was a friend of mine in high school. Every year on September 11th I think about him and have a good laugh – and a good cry. It’s so important that every one of these people is remembered. You are doing your part. Thank you.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:45 am
thank you. honestly i had forgotten and i am so ashamed i did. thank you thank you thank you. i am truly humbled

To all the haters:
Why do you have so much hate in your heart? Were you not hugged by your parents as a child? Were you picked on in school and now you feel like you option actually matters? Did your parents not let you have a pet?
Do you feel superior while you type your hateful messages? Take a “big” timeout and figure out how you can stop hating yourself and loving the USA :)

this is a beautiful tribute. but why dont we remember all the people who died in genocide, hunger, and the variety of wars that happen globally. we just arent Americans’ first we are human first!!! It isnt all about us, its about everyone, at all times!
September 11th, 2008 at 12:40 pm

Osama Bin-Laden was never charged with a crime, he never admitted to the attacks, jet fuel doesn’t melt steel, and our own government murdered our own people to make us mad enough to allow the infringement of our liberties, and our consent for endless war to line the military industrial complexes pockets, and pave the way for world government. Get out of your shell and wake up. The truth hurts, but lies kill.

Trent – Thanks for helping us get through this tragic, tragic day! I remember watching the Pentagon burn from my office window in DC, walking the 3 miles home because someone told us the metro was going to be blown up, the lines of frantic parents at payphones trying to reach their children’s schools b/c traffic was at a standstill & cell phones weren’t working, sitting alone in my apartment with duct tape and plastic wondering if we would ever get back to normal or fly in airplanes again. To all those who say “get over it” – I would love to – I am sitting at my desk crying. RIP
September 11th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Never forget 9/11!
Thank you for this beautiful memorial, Trent. It shows that you know what really matters. A class act.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Trent, thank you for posting this. It really pains me to see people wanting to argue and be ugly about this situation in regards to other casualties that have been felt by so many other people and nations all over the world. Particularly, casualties caused by OUR country. Which is a whole ‘nother bag of nuts. *sigh* I feel for those people and those situations too. But this is a day to pay respect and love to our friends and loved ones who lost their lives in attacks that changed the world.
Though some people’s comments here aggravate me, I won’t respond. Out of respect for the people that passed away that day and out of respect for the people closely affected by this horrible tragedy. I absolutely recognize that that is your intention here and that you don’t intend to downplay or disregard other tragedies that have taken place around the world. I see that you’re trying to honor and respect the dead and to honor and respect the pain this day, seven years ago, caused so many people in this country and around the world.
Although it gets harder and harder to have hope for the human race, I still hold out. May God have mercy on us all and may He bless the people who passed on this day and all their families and loved ones. Rest in peace.
~Con carino~ <3
September 11th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Trent,
Thank you for taking the time to honor those who died on 9/11. I knew 5 (FIVE!) people who perished that day and I will never “get over it”. To those who think we should move on or stop living in the past, it’s apparent you weren’t affected directly by that great tragedy.
I can also say that someone whom I dated and lived with for 6 years died in Afganistan. So I know the pain from all the events that surrounded that day.
So please, take your negative comments to someone eles’s page.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
May they all REST IN PEACE.
They are missed dearly.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
MelMel, very very well said. i think the vast majority would echo your sentiments. it is heartbreaking and disrespectful to see the way some people react here. this world needs more compassion…until then we can’t even begin to tackle the bigger problems.
Remembering isn’t dwelling on the past, it’s not needing to “get over it”… its simply honoring the memory of another human being, whether it was an acquaintance, your father, your wife, your child, or your best friend. my thoughts and prayers are with all of you…
September 11th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I couldn’t say it better than MelMel so I won’t try. The fact that there are actual friends and relatives of those who died responding to this blog should be reason enough for even the most heartless readers to keep their ignorant, hateful comments to themselves. Apparently they can’t go without updates on Brangelina and Sienna Miller for one day.
Thank you, Trent, for posting this every year.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Thank You Trent
September 11th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
And I’d like to apologize for my rather unfortunate lapse in proper English grammar in my previous comment. If you took offense, it was not intended. If it gave you a chuckle, I’m glad I could inject some levity into your day.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
I think it’s so important that we all remember this ever year. Thank you for posting this, Trent.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Just because it’s been 7 years doesn’t mean we cant reflect. Not to mention, 7 years is not a long time. I’m from OKC and it’s been almost 15 years since the Murrah building bombing and it’s still a big deal to us here. We take the time to reflect every year on what happened and who we lost.
I don’t understand whats wrong with that for 4/19/95 or for 9/11/01.
Nice work Trent. It’s much appreciated.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Isn’t it nice that many people died so that you could complain about why one person did not post a rememberance to your cause. Grow Up!
September 11th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
thanks for posting this trent…
seems like alot of people forgot!
WE MUST NEVER FORGET!!
September 11th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
I love that you post this, Trent.
May they all rest in peace and may their loved ones be comforted (if only a little bit) by the fact that we remember them.
September 11th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Thank you so much for doing this again this year, Trent. I do not personally know anyone who perished in the attacks but being a New Yorker, just reading tributes like these brings tears to my eyes. As usual there are haters (wasn’t it after a 9/11 tribute post that you stopped allowing ppl to comment for awhile?), but I just want to tell you how much this means to me and many other readers. Thanks again.

Trent, thank you so much for posting all these names. Those mentioned need to be honored forever!
September 11th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Thanks for posting this Trent. I am in DC for a few months and was acutely aware of this anniversary today. It is so very sad, but always a profound time to thank God that we have not had any attacks since. Even if you’re like me and don’t agree with the war, 9/11 is an opportunity to thank all the men and women, both in and out of combat, who are giving everything they have to keep us safe. We are truly lucky to be living in this great nation.
Thanks for posting and God bless America!
September 11th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Thank you for posting. We must always remember and take time to remember those lost, even if we didn’t personally know anyone. I’m saddened to see the young children killed.
The names listed from 9/11 on here because today is 9/11 DAY, not remember other wars day. If it was ‘remember Iraq war day’ then that would be what is listed. More than 6 million babies have been aborted since the Iraq war, so those who are against our men and women choosing to go to war, like my husband did, let them BE. Back to remembering 9/11.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Thanks for REMEMBERING! Out her in LA there is very little impact from 9/11. However, being from NY and seeing Ground Zero, it will impact my soul forever. Thanks so much Trent. My love to all those who lost family and friends!

I just don’t understand why we can’t stop for a day and remember those who are no longer with us. Yes thousands have died in Iraq, but today is about those who were killed for some stupid agenda. I am against the war but I always make it a point to thank any soldiers that have been to war because that takes courage. I usually never pray during my school’s moment of silence but today I bowed my head and asked God to continue to look over those who have been deeply affected by this and to give those families strength. RIP to those who perished that awful Tuesday 7 years ago and despite what SOME assholes think, we truly must never forget. We shouldn’t forget not for revenge but at least so we can tell future generations the truth and not some brainwashed agenda. Thank you Trent for posting this. It gives me chills each year and I hope to come back next year and see the same because no matter what gender, orientation, race, etc, we are ALL proud Americans and we stand united in the face of adversity.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Trent, thank you for your continued support of those lives lost and the families left behind. Many gossip sites carry on with business as usual, but you are a true American who continues, every year, to make sure we ALL remember. Thank you. I think Britney, et. al. can certainly wait another day.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Trent,
It makes me sad to no end to read the negative comments left by some people in this post. I’m not American, i’m Mexican and just as the girl who said that first of all, she is American, I feel the same thing about my country, I’m Mexican first but… this may have happened in NYC but it echoed all over this world of ours.
The lose of ANY human life through the irrational and hateful acts of just a few, regardless of their nationality or religion and our own, should be something enough to make any of us question where are we heading, who are we becoming, what good is it in advancing so much technologically if we cannot solve the simplest issues, what good will it make to get to Mars if we cannot get along here.
Yes, invasions have cost millions of lives and I agree with all of you, it is not fair, but it is even less fair to disregard all those who lost their lives on 9/11 because of their nationality or the place it occured. Previous invasions and even the actual ones don’t make this right.
September 11th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
What a touching tribute. That was beautiful Trent. Let us not forget all those who died and all those left behind who will continue to suffer. Thank God that there hasn’t been another attack since (and as much as you might not want to admit it, we have to thank GWB for that)
September 11th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Thanks Trent.
September 11th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Thanks for posting that. WOW, I forgot how long the list was! It gave me chills and made me want to vomit at the same time!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
To My Fellow New Yorkers & Americans,
Thanks for always being there for us, year after year. I can’t believe it’s been seven years already. I’ll never forget where I was, what I was doing, and how long that day seemed to be.
Thank you all, for always paying your respects on this day. It means the world to us.
Sincerely,
Jess & NYC

Hey Trent,
I was 12 when this happened. I just want to thank you for remembering and your compassion really shows through. I was going through the list and it hit me hard that the names there were the names of Fathers, Mothers, Bestfriends, Daughters, Sons, grandparents, Wives & husbands..I cannot imagine losing anyone so close to a tragedy that shook the world. My heart goes out to all Americans. Vote Obama & God Bless America.
Love,
Samantha

Every year I thank you for doing this Trent. You show that you truly care for your readers and respect those that hurt from the tragic event 7 years ago. We will never forget or get over this day. 7 years later and this day is still just as hard for me to deal with then it was then. Perhaps people outside the Tri-State are able to get over it much more quickly because they are not constantly reminded of the event on a daily basis. When we drive into the city, and no longer see those towers there, we have a constant reminder of where we were that day and how we felt. September 11th will always be a hard to for myself and many others, but it will also be a day that I remember that I am so thankful to live in this country and I’m proud to be an American.
God Bless the U.S.A
September 11th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Thank you Trent! May all of the 9/11 victims rest in peace <3
September 11th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Trent, thank you. Seriously. From the bottom of my heart. I never comment but I had to. My father is a member of the FDNY and I remember coming home from school and him having to rush in on his day off. At the time I couldn’t understand how easily my life could have changed forever. Though he is still sick from it I thank God every day for his health otherwise. Every year I appreciate this, I wish more people would do this. We need more people like you Trent.
God Bless America
September 11th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Trent,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every year, on this day, I am very proud of you. Every day, I am thankful to our military and proud to be an American.
Thank you,
Katie

I love that you do this every day, Trent. This is EXACTLY why I adore you and this site.
Love ya!
September 11th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Of all the blogs I check every day, yours is the only one that paid tribute to those who lost their lives that day.
God Bless You and God Bless America
September 11th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I know the attack was on American soil but wasn’t it something like 50 nationalities died in the towers? The trade centres were very diverse remember everyone commenters not just Americans.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Death in any form is tragic.
Thank you for posting this today, for those of us still dealing with the sights, sounds and smells of that day, this was a comforting reminder that we are not alone in our sorrow.

You are a very kind and loving person, Trent. This post just further proves that.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Thank you for posting all the names. It’s important that we never forget. I work across the street in NY and have been at work for the past 3 years on 9/11. Every year, there are less and less people attending the ceremonies. Some say it’s time to move on, but I think we should never forget – EVER! These people deserve to be remembered, this sad day is not something we should put in the past.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
I can’t believe it has been seven years. May all who lost their Rest in Peace.
September 11th, 2008 at 8:36 pm

Trent,
Thank you so so much for posting this. Regardless of what people believe about 9/11, thousands of lives were lost and those people should be remembered as such. It makes me sad to think that people are starting to forget.
Keep on doin your thang. You rock.

Thank you for taking a break from the goss to remember the victims and mourn their loss. I was in DC on the day of the Pentagon attack, and I will never forget that day and those that died there, in New York, and in Pennsylvania.

I LOVE that you did this. It’s great to remember… RIP and never forget.

Richard P. Fitzsimons, he was my mother’s cousin, we always called him Uncle Richie, he was a man full of life, and taken from this world too soon. He was a fire safety inspector at the World Trade Center.

Trent, God bless you for this beautiful post. :)
September 12th, 2008 at 6:40 am
first off, thank you trent for remembering those who left us on that fateful day.
second, to those who asked him post the names of those killed in iraq, please direct your anger where it belongs, go ask george bush or dick chaney. as angry as i am about this war, it is unfair to take your frustration out on trent when all he is doing is remembering these people that died on a day that forever changed our lives.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:17 am
Yesterday I knew that I should be remembering 9/11 as an important day, but I just really couldn’t think of a way to do it. But you totally solved that problem for me, Trent. Thanks for not forgetting and helping me not to forget.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:59 am
trent, thank you. i know you’re smart enough to ignore all the ignorant and hurtful comments that people are leaving. for everyone who it DID affect, we thank you for remembering this day. i know that i will never forget waking up that morning across the country in wisconsin, away from my family in new york, and not knowing if my parents were alive or dead. the incomprehensible concept of watching the footage over and over – one second everyone on the planes and in the buildings on the floors that they hit were alive, and then they were gone. Just like that. And this is what hate can do.
To anyone still reading these comments, try to do one act of kindness every day. Think twice before speaking negatively, and try to think about how you can frame your thoughts in a positive manner. Hopefully little by little, we can give the world more peace and love.
September 12th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Thank you for doing this every year. Please never stop and I will never forgot. I make myself read through the list every year, as form of respect to the victims. Thank you
September 12th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
9/11 is forever gonna be in my heart. i was only in 4th grade when this happened and it is still in my memory. this day was a tragic day and i remeber watching the news and just crying. i was young but i was old enough to realize what was happening.for everyone that lost a loved one that day may god bless you and for everyone that lost their own lives that day and who fought for every thing they could that day may god bless you too.

Thank you you for remembering this event that affected the entire world in such a touching and respectful way, every year. This is why I read PITNB.

To all the people that say that we all need to get over this, there is a fantastic program on the History Channel with footage from the day of the attacks that was filmed by real people in New York City. It’s very sad (and a little creepy) to watch, but it might give you a little perspective and make it more real to you.
My heart breaks for all those families, and I suppose I would be considered lucky that my sister and cousins weren’t harmed…. but still… I’ll never forget the panic I felt that day in geography class, watching the south tower fall over and over again… and then in lit class, watching the north tower fall… and wondering who the hell would want to do that to people who were just trying to live their lives.
I saw the Towers in 2000 from Battery Park and remember thinking how beautiful they were, and I saw the massive hole in the ground at Ground Zero in 2002. I saw the memorial signs made by children and all the damage that was still around. Those people on that list, no matter how bad they might have been, did not deserve to die that way.
I pray for peace for everyone who lost someone and for peace for everyone who died.
