OMG … last night was the funnest night ever. I spent most of the day preparing for my upcoming trip to Detroit but I met up with my friend Michael for dinner before heading off to see Veruca Salt at The Viper Room in Hollywood. Michael and I planned on going out to dinner but because he lives within walking distance of The Viper Room he invited me over for a BBQ dinner that he cooked :) We had a very nice chat and were able to catch up about various developments going on in each other’s lives. Michael is a fan of Veruca Salt so he was happy to head over to see the show with me … we met up with my dear friend Irene and planted ourselves front and center at the venue. Before the Salts took to the stage, I was able to meet (finally) in person Kay Hanley (who used to front Letters to Cleo and now makes her own solo records which she sells online on her official website). She and I had exchanged a few emails before, so it was really amazing getting to meet her finally :) It was just a great night all around. During Spiderman, ’79 the band paused before ending the song so that Louise could engage in a little banter with the audience:

It was during this interlude that Louise announced that she had gotten married! I was not aware that she and Tony had sealed the deal but I am very happy that they finally said their “I Do”s.

Man, the band was so great … they rocked so hard, Lou and Stephen‘s guitar playing was just sick … Kelly‘s drumming was insane and Nicole, sweet, Nicole looked absolutely gorgeous. The show was just so much fun. During Don’t Make Me Prove It, Louise noticed that I was singing along with her (screaming along, actually) and she gave me a little shout-out … I about died! I’ve been such a huge Veruca Salt fan for so many years, never did I ever dream that I would, one day, be on a first name basis with a musical idol of mine (Louise and I met last year when I did an interview with her for the site). I’m just so happy that VS is still going strong. The band are playing a show in Redondo Beach, CA tonight (Brixton, 100 “J” Fishermans Wharf, Redondo Beach CA) … if any of ya’ll are in the area, you should deffo check ‘em out. Tonight, Adriana and I are meeting up for dinner before we see our friend Erik’s LA stage debut (he is recently moved to LA with his new wife from Detroit) so I’m excited for that. Tomorrow, I fly back to Detroit for a week to see all my amazing friends and family back home. Woot!
