The Buffyverse That Never Was
The kids at ONTD! stumbled upon a short vid clip of the failed Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated series that was shopped around back in 2004 but was never picked up for airing. Here are a few screenshots from the short vid clip:
In the proposed animated series, all of the voices of the original castmembers were to be used (except for Sarah Michelle Gellar who has been remarkably unsupportive of all things Buffyverse since the end of the series) and the action was set back during the Sunnydale High days. I gotta say, this little vid clip from the pilot is really cute … I would’ve loved it if the show had gotten picked up … I would’ve watched, for shiz. So, Buffy fans, what do we think? Again, I love it … I wish it had been picked up … yes?

don’t know if i would’ve watched it… maybe if the dialogue had been better, and they’d used someone a whole lot less annoying for buffy’s voice… and no dragons. seriously, wtf?

AWWW, It made me miss Buffy sooo much. The dialog was kind of cheesy, but I think I would have watched it! :D I wish they would make a movie, but sadly I don’t think Sarah would ever agree to it.

Ummm… so, if the girl doing the Buffy voice had any sort of comedic timing it would have been palatable. But, love the attempt.

Your comments about Sarah annoy me. First of all she wants to build a career seperate from Buffy and that is fine with me. Second of all she just recently returned to the BIGGEST Buffy reunion ever @ The Paley Festivial or whatever it was called I saw the pictures here and I think you attended!! She could have refused however she came and was supportive. If you had done something 7 years and was “DONE” with it, I am sure you would act in the same manner. JMO. I still like your page!

Sarah has said before she would do a movie if the script was right and I am sure she would too if her SALARY was right as well. Don’t count her out yet.

Sarah hasn’t been that supportive. I think the problem lies in the direction the show went at the end. But she also needs to realize she does NOT have a huge career outside of buffy. shes done some mediocre work since then. A few straight to dvd’s, a movie with The Rock (which I’ll give credit to Southland Tales cause it was an interesting idea). Shes not the best actress around and she definitely has a big ego and little to back it up with.
David Boreanaz has the same attitude she does, and it hasnt sat well with Angel fans. He goes as far as refusing to talk about the character that made him famous, in interviews. Celebs who know that one character made them big..tend to act like that. It’s something that needs to be accepted and cherished.
That being said!!! I’m a huge buffyverse fan. And when I saw this on SlayAlive.com I flipped. The show could STILL get some kind of release because apparently there’s another episode that was created for a later pitch that was rejected a few years later.

It’s not fair that a show like Buffy that has such a huge following keeps getting turned down for spin-off series and films. :( I bet Joss Whedon would’ve had as much fun as he is with the comic series with an animated series without the constrains of television.

I liked it, didn’t like Buffy’s voice… little annoying.

You have to make sure that it doesn’t involved The dialog that you will not going to understand. Here is The dialog that should help you be successful at it. It is pretty volatile and hard to read, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn if you follow The dialog.

I loved parts of it. “Followers of Morgan Freeman” was pretty great.
Only things I don’t like are the dragon (!!) and how Buffy was all super human, jumping several stories into the air and landing on the fire escape. I like that Buffy kills the baddies, but is still a HUMAN and has limitations.
But of course I would’ve watched!!!

The sad thing is how Sarah Michelle Gellar distances herself from the show. The show made her a cult icon! A little more gratitude wouldn’t kill her.

Oh I would watch it. They should do it now !!! I miss Buffy. It was such a good show, not boring like the ones they got on now. Horror, comedy, thrills, drama, action, fighting. What more could you ask for???

Maybe if it had come before the TV show. I think I’d miss the natural mannerisms of the actors…or maybe just, if they got a better voice for Buffy? This one’s annoying.
I’d love if they did season 8 in cartoon, in the drawing style they do the comics in. That would look fantastic.

I don’t know what video you all watched, but the video I watched has Sarah Michelle Gellar as the voice of Buffy! Don’t you all recognize her voice?? I mean the video clip was done with all original voices. No she wasn’t going to sign on for the animated series, but she did provide the voice for the the video clip. Listen again peeps, it IS her. I’m so glad you all thought the voice was annoying. Just takes 1 person to not recognize it and then you all follow! lol Sheep! Apparently you all weren’t the fans you claim to be. Shows what you know!! lol
I thought it was pretty cool and I got a few good giggles out of it!!

This would of been better then series 8 comic books. I would of prefered to watch it as a cartoon.

btw that was not SMG’s voice… definitely not… it was the voice from the 2nd game chaos bleeds like Ash says (cos SMG doesnt like to affiliate herself with buffyverse things unless she really has to :( oh well go buffy!) … if you are a massive fan and had watched every single one of the episodes millions of times, you would know this.

I can’t believe that this toon didn’t get picked up. Most of the cast + the show’s writers would have been gold for Buffy fans. Maybe some day…

when SMG and DAVID get a little older and cant get parts then they will want to do a movie. i hope Joss tells them to stick it.they left everything unsettle they should do a movie
to finish things up for the fans but the think they are too good for that.

I love btvs, even if this is not the “real” thing…I would totally watch it.. :)
