I’m also one of the “rabid fans” and I thought Breaking Dawn was amazing! Parts of it are a bit slow, but overall it was probably my favorite! Hope you enjoy the rest of the books.

how can you fans be angry with those who weren’t satisfied with BD? i’m not too thrilled about it and don’t think it’s meyer’s best work, but it doesn’t mean i’m not fans of hers or the twilight saga. so CALM the fuck down and let people think what they want.

I loved the books. People hated Breaking Dawn but I liked it. I’ve seen it get an A- in Time and a D in E.W. Either you love it or hate it. Either way the series rules and the movie is going to rock.

I love the Twilight series, and Breaking Dawn was my favorite, I loved how it ended, Ms Meyer wrote the first book when she was 29, and she wrote the book for woman her age, and the fans range from 12 to 82 years old. I read somewhere that they made her tone down the violence and sexual type scenes since a lot of the readers are young. The story is so beautiful, I mean what is more beautiful then true love. Enjoy all the books, I know I did,
and see the movie on December 12th

IT IS FICTION!!!! The story is about vampires. How can people seriously be so angry about a story that is pure fantasy?? All in all the books are a good story. Are they groundbreaking? No. They are what they are: pure entertainment. For all those that have made it their life mission to make sure that everyone knows how much they hate the books, pull your panties out of a wad and move on. Write your own story if you think that you can do better. We need more great authors in this world anyway. Stephanie Meyer should be commended for sparking interest in young readers, no matter how silly you think the storyline is.

Well I’m in a HP book club and all the ladies are reading Twilight so I thought “what the heck, I love Vampires, I’ve been reading Vampire Kisses series, which is for teens as well, why not”?
So far I’m in the middle of Twilight and its cute. I’m 29, so I just pretend I’m 16 again and its a nice read. I also got the next 2 and will keep on till the end.
Just keep in mind folks, Steph is no Tolkien and you won’t have your hopes up!

nat! we are reading the historian right now in book club. you are right, its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy better than any of the twilight series

posh! i so concur with your assessment of the series. breaking dawn was the worst of them for sure. after reading the other three i wanted to know how it all ended, but it was work to get thru breaking dawn. hells bells this womans writing was at its worst in this book.

oh, and i wish she thanked the band muse more. weird.

How long did you have to read before you found the plot? I finished the series, and I’m still looking for it. If I’d known an entire series could be written to say “I love you” “No, I love YOU” and make as much money as this has, I’d have done it when I was 17.

I gave the whole series a pretty scathing review.

loved the series- hated breaking dawn. there is just SUCH buildup to where you know it is going and then nothing. abruptly you are left on your butt with it all wrapped in a pretty bow. I hate that

I really enjoyed Twilight, but halfway through New Moon the main characters really started annoying me. I finished it anyway, liked Eclipse much more than NM, and as for Breaking Dawn…
Well, to be fair, I haven’t finished it yet. But I’m not hopeful. I tore through the first three books in a matter of days, but this last one has me irritated to the point of not really wanting to finish it. I’m not a rabid fan of the books by any means, but I had higher hopes for it. I won’t spoil it for you by saying why, but I will say that Bella and Edward still annoy me — I read it mostly for the secondary characters at this point, they’re a lot of fun.

I had to laugh a little since I JUST started reading the books this week and they are my new form of crack. I read Twilight and then rushed right out to get New Moon (which the checkout girl at Target told me she liked least…but i liked more than the first!). I hate to admit it, but this 32-yr old is totally digging some teen vampire/werewolf drama!

Oh god Trent, I am so disappointed in you. Well, I’m disappointed in anybody who thinks that this book is anything more than Stephanie Meyer’s thinly (VERY thinly) veiled attempt at writing herself into the life she wants. They’re awful. Even her description of Bella matches her.

I am also up to New Moon and really enjoying the serie. The haters should lighten up a little. It’s a fun read that’s all. Perfect for Summer.

There is another vampire serie which looks interesting. It’s by Charlaine Harris and that’s what the upcoming shows True Blood will be based on. That’s next on my to read list after Twilight. :)

I thought Breaking Dawn was amazing; it provided a lot of closure. I don’t understand the mixed reviews of it.. it was uncalled for. The book is different than the other 3 but it was necessary for it to be. Anyway, enjoy New Moon, that one is my favorite :)

I have to say, I thought Twilight made a good read as well, but the characters seemed so flat and the language was terribly repetitive. By the time I finished New Moon and Eclipse, I realized that the tiny flaws I found in Twilight were magnified throughout the rest of the series. It is certainly a teen romance with plenty of overemotional dribble, but I did think it was a cute storyline. I’m currently making my way through Breaking Dawn because I also want to finish the series, and so far, it’s been better than the last few books to be honest (perhaps because I’m less than halfway through).

The Twilight series is an easy read. And it’s a good one too. Which why it’s easy to fall in love with for many people. And as for Breaking Dawn I liked it, but at the same time I understand why many fans didn’t. Have fun reading New Moon though! It’s even better than Twilight.

Trent, you’re a lot more forgiving than I am. I didn’t actaully realize it was a book aimed at teenage girls when I picked it up (like an idiot, I ignored the old adage and DID judge the book by it’s cover, which was quite striking). I read it from beginning to end in one 3 hour flight, and then threw it in the trash when we touched down. I thought it was truly awful, with the most ridiculous Mary-sue main character I have ever come across. I’m actually surprised it’s so popular, even amongst the tweenies – this would not have impressed me at all at that age either. But I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Maybe if you know what to expect going in, it isn’t so bad.
