‘Project Runway’: All Hail The Queens
ATTENTION: 'PROJECT RUNWAY' SPOILER ALERT WARNING

Ok … so at long last Project Runway finally decided to bust out the drag queen challenge and have the designers create over-the-top looks for some of NYC’s most fabulously fierce drag queens:

It’s about damn time that PR decided to pay homage to drag queens, this is a challenge that should’ve happened ages ago … but at long last, they finally wizened up. After the jump, find out who was in, who was out and who wasn’t designer enough to work up a fierce-ass outfit in the ep titled Good Queen Fun

I must confess that this ep really didn’t feel as over-the-top as it should’ve been. I kept thinking thruout the entire show that had this challenge taken place in previous seasons (and I don’t even mean season 4 with Chris March, who is know for his fabulous drag costumes) the designs would’ve been sooo fiercely fab. The designs last night were good but … overall they didn’t seem as good as I hoped they would be:

Thank the good Lord Jebus that the other designers are FINALLY mentioning on camera how stupidly annoying Blayne and all of his “licious”ness is. I was hoping someone, anyone, was gonna mebbe slap Blayne in the face but … unfortch, it never came to be. Boo. Ah well, there’s hope that a good bitchslap is still yet to come. Personally, I think that Suede should’ve been disqualified from competition cuz I don’t think it’s fair that his dead grandfather helped him out with his design. I mean, I thought it turned out fugly as hell (he made Hedda Lettuce look like Hunk O’ Watermelon) but still, help from the dead should be banned from this competition. BTW, was anyone else squealing with glee as Hedda ripped into Suede? The only thing that would’ve made that dramatic exchange better would have been if Suede started to cry … but, anyways. It must be said that the amazing Tim Gunn gave us the quote of the ep, with regard to Blayne‘s design: “It looks like a pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic Park!” Brills, Tim … just brills :)

So … the designs … Blanye‘s pterodactyl looked like it died on the runway, Hedda did look like a walking watermelon, Leanne‘s design was so cute — she actually managed to make a “cute” drag queen outfit, Daniel bored me to tears and Keith‘s design was just way too tired already. I knew INSTANTLY that Daniel and Keith would be in the bottom two. I also knew that Korto and Joe would be in the top two. I am thrilled that Joe, my Detroit homie, won cuz it was well deserved. His outfit was hawt … he made his drag queen look like a natural woman — her J. Lo booty was just … BAM! It would not be denied. I really loved Korto‘s design … if she had gone crazy with the flames on that dress (I mean huge, long spirally swirls of flames reaching up, over and around her drag queen), she might’ve pulled out the win. It was SOOOO time for Daniel to get the axe. He should’ve gone home to Wesley weeks ago … but at long last they can now be together.

I think the ep gets a big POOP SANDWICH for underusing RuPaul. She is a totally fierce drag queen icon and should’ve been utilized more. I doubt she got more than 5 min. of screentime. I mean, I love Chris March but RuPaul should’ve been featured more than Chris was. That said, I was entertained. As I said earlier, I think I would’ve liked a bit more flair from the ep overall but … meh, it was good enough I think.

Incidentally, Bravo has posted a cute video of the happily re-joined Daniel and Wesley (and drag queen Lady Bunny) commenting on their short stints (and their burgeoning love affair) on this season of Project Runway … which you can watch HERE.

BTW, the boys are now wearing matching rings:

True love forever? We’ll see.

Sew … what did y’all think of the ep?

So glad that Daniel is gone.

  2. las says:

Trent I totally agree with you on all points. I was disappointed that alot of the outfits were not very exciting. Joe and Korto’s were about it. Suede and Blaine = Blech.

  3. Laynie says:

Daniel fasho should have gone, but aww he was so cute.
All the cute boys have left..

  4. Kristy says:

omg daniel’s run was sooooo over.. although i loved the dress there was just nothing drag or over the top about it at all! i loved joe’s outift and im glad he won the challenge, i was actually scared that he would be peacing out this episode because he is the only straight guy on the show and i thought he would have no idea what to do.. i like keith but if he continues with this fringe mess its gonna be bye bye for him next

  5. Abc123 says:

    ew, daniel annoyed meee
    i was happy he left(:

  6. Froggie2004 says:

I agree, there was a pizazz that was missing…but in the end Joe really pulled off the best outfit for the challenge. I loved Korto’s flames though, genius! I agree more would have taken it from genius to out of this world!

  7. GiGi says:

You know, I have wanted Joe to win a challenge for a while, but I don’t feel like this was his best out of all the others that should have one. I really liked Korto’s design – she is a fantastic designer, and I definitely think we’ll see her in the top 3.

Very Glad Daniel is gone. He was a yawner for sure.

  8. whatever says:

RuPaul is fab! but sorry to say she looked like a hot tranny mess last night! I love me some fierceness, and she gave post op last night. what was with that wig? ughhhh…

  9. Kai says:

Daniel claimed to have a “high fashion” sense of style but all he did was cocktail dresses…something that Laura did far better a few seasons ago. He didn’t have any range and totally deserved to go. I mean, who would hire such a one trick pony (especially when the trick is performed so poorly?). While I enjoyed Joe and Korto’s oufits, they did not measure up to the ensemble that Terri delivered!

  10. MindyinAustin says:

Is no one going to point out how Miss Terry was robbed yet again? Her outfit for Acid Bette was not only edgy and cool, it was total fashion compared to the other clown costumes!

  11. Jen says:

I agree, RuPaul looked like a damn hot tranny mess! Just didn’t look as put together. I’m SO glad that Daniel is gone, he kept talking about his impecable taste, but we NEVER saw it! If he had such great taste, he would have used it during that challenge instead of that tickity-tac yellow and orange crap.

  12. Mr. Gyllenhaal says:

I thought I would get more. I can’t believe Daniel got so pissy about his dress!! I mean, this was drag night and all he did was a normal looking dress with some bright colors. It is offical, I hate blanye! He is so damn annoying. As much as I love Keith I am getting sick of his designs..they are all the same! He best UP his game or homeboy is gone. Korto was fierce…Joe really deserved to win. His outfit was so HAWT on miss thing. RuPaul should have been used way more. It was a fun show but could have been better! “You better work it girl” is how the show should have started!!!

  13. OllyDolly says:

Terry deserved the win, but at the same time I was very happy that Joe won for a challenge that was so not him. Keith AND Daniel are one trick ponies. If I see another fringe, swatch from him….argh.

I enjoyed Leanne’s outfit a lot and would actually wear it. For a costume party.

Woot! to a great episode. Can you imagine what Santino et al would have done with this?

  14. jim daily says:

I was just reading about drag queens ( http://www.pro-thinspo.com/fam.....odels.html ) and yeah this definetly had a bizazz missing.. lol

  15. A in KC says:

The end for him was when Kenley cracked up at the elimination, when he was defending his “impecable taste”

    LOL

  16. cheese pizza says:

thats bullcrap, u have to have an american express card to watch the behind the scenes shit. EFF THAT! anyone wana let me borrow their card number?

  17. Straight designer, Joe of Project Runway won the drag competition last night! Can you believe he’s straight. His wife and kids can’t believe he’s straight. His daughter was the inspiration for his drag costume. The bed in the apartments reminds him of his daughter. His wife is so happy for him. He has a wife, they’re married. His wife is a woman. He thinks there are “too many queens” on project runway. He doesn’t like queens. He has a beard. He’s not gay. HE’S NOT GAY. He’s not gay!!!! Hey, here’s a thought, why don’t we all get together and get all the guys who aren’t gay on reality TV shows about really gay things, like fashion design, T-shirts so they can stop telling us about what big strappin’ straighties they are? (Blogging Project Runway)

  18. Virginia Hamm says:

Agree with y’all about the lack of flamboyance and flair. You would have thought the designers could have clued in based on what Chris was wearing at the beginning! While I loved Joe’s outfit, it strikes me that he could be a one-trick-pony with his “sportswear” looks. I couldn’t believe Michael Kors said Jerrell’s dress was so bar mitzvah… harsh! IT could have been shorter, but I thought it was kinda cool. Definitely needed a giant, colorful collar or something, but it was NOT as bland and tame as some of the others.

Actually, my favorite line is from Michael last week chanting, “slutty, slutty, slutty!” – God, that was classic.

  19. Verodemort says:

I was in total sync with the judging last night!! I thought Terri should have won, but I was so impressed with both Korto and Joe that I would have been happy with any of them :) I thought all the designers did a pretty good job, except, of course for Daniel and Keith, both of whom I was rooting for to receive the axe! Poor Jerrell- he wasn’t that bad, but I guess he didn’t score high enough. Stella’s dress was pretty ugly, maybe I would have put her in the bottom three? Blayne needs to be let go, just for his “licious” phrase! I could care less what his designs look like now, I just can’t like anything about him! I hope he drains of all his tan, lol. It would be like “palelicious”! Keith needs to learn how to do something else. I’m glad Daniel is gone, he was such a bore! And kind of pathetic looking, I felt he had absolutely no confidence in himself. And Tim Gunn & Michael Kors keep coming out with these great lines! LOL @ the gay Jurassic Park! HAHAHA Best part of the show!
