Ok … so at long last Project Runway finally decided to bust out the drag queen challenge and have the designers create over-the-top looks for some of NYC’s most fabulously fierce drag queens:

It’s about damn time that PR decided to pay homage to drag queens, this is a challenge that should’ve happened ages ago … but at long last, they finally wizened up. After the jump, find out who was in, who was out and who wasn’t designer enough to work up a fierce-ass outfit in the ep titled Good Queen Fun …
I must confess that this ep really didn’t feel as over-the-top as it should’ve been. I kept thinking thruout the entire show that had this challenge taken place in previous seasons (and I don’t even mean season 4 with Chris March, who is know for his fabulous drag costumes) the designs would’ve been sooo fiercely fab. The designs last night were good but … overall they didn’t seem as good as I hoped they would be:

Thank the good Lord Jebus that the other designers are FINALLY mentioning on camera how stupidly annoying Blayne and all of his “licious”ness is. I was hoping someone, anyone, was gonna mebbe slap Blayne in the face but … unfortch, it never came to be. Boo. Ah well, there’s hope that a good bitchslap is still yet to come. Personally, I think that Suede should’ve been disqualified from competition cuz I don’t think it’s fair that his dead grandfather helped him out with his design. I mean, I thought it turned out fugly as hell (he made Hedda Lettuce look like Hunk O’ Watermelon) but still, help from the dead should be banned from this competition. BTW, was anyone else squealing with glee as Hedda ripped into Suede? The only thing that would’ve made that dramatic exchange better would have been if Suede started to cry … but, anyways. It must be said that the amazing Tim Gunn gave us the quote of the ep, with regard to Blayne‘s design: “It looks like a pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic Park!” Brills, Tim … just brills :)
So … the designs … Blanye‘s pterodactyl looked like it died on the runway, Hedda did look like a walking watermelon, Leanne‘s design was so cute — she actually managed to make a “cute” drag queen outfit, Daniel bored me to tears and Keith‘s design was just way too tired already. I knew INSTANTLY that Daniel and Keith would be in the bottom two. I also knew that Korto and Joe would be in the top two. I am thrilled that Joe, my Detroit homie, won cuz it was well deserved. His outfit was hawt … he made his drag queen look like a natural woman — her J. Lo booty was just … BAM! It would not be denied. I really loved Korto‘s design … if she had gone crazy with the flames on that dress (I mean huge, long spirally swirls of flames reaching up, over and around her drag queen), she might’ve pulled out the win. It was SOOOO time for Daniel to get the axe. He should’ve gone home to Wesley weeks ago … but at long last they can now be together.
I think the ep gets a big POOP SANDWICH for underusing RuPaul. She is a totally fierce drag queen icon and should’ve been utilized more. I doubt she got more than 5 min. of screentime. I mean, I love Chris March but RuPaul should’ve been featured more than Chris was. That said, I was entertained. As I said earlier, I think I would’ve liked a bit more flair from the ep overall but … meh, it was good enough I think.
Incidentally, Bravo has posted a cute video of the happily re-joined Daniel and Wesley (and drag queen Lady Bunny) commenting on their short stints (and their burgeoning love affair) on this season of Project Runway … which you can watch HERE.
BTW, the boys are now wearing matching rings:

True love forever? We’ll see.
Sew … what did y’all think of the ep?

I was a bit shocked to see Terri not win the challenge. Her design was fierce!! The dramatic effect was top notch whilst not losing any fashion sense! Joe’s design was good too, fitting to the brief and flattering.
I think Korto’s design could be improved if the drag queen was smaller. Added with Trent’s suggestion of flame coming out from the whole body, it could roll with the idea of a giant fireball.
Tim Gunn was right on the money with his Gay Jurassic Park comment! So funny!
Am glad that Daniel was finally Auf’d. Also glad that he was reunited with Wesley. Both of them were my favourite eye candy. But Daniel annoyed me more and more with his “taste”. They are soooooo cute together. I really miss Wesley.
I think overall the show was fabulous. The designs might not have been over the top but the comments and conversations were 1st-class comedic!
No. 1 Quote goes of course to Tim Gunn, but No. 2 goes to LiAnne: “If I hear licious one more time, I’m gonna barf. And I guess that would be barflicious.”
Terry was robbed! Joe’s was cute, but Terry’s was so imaginative and innovative and a true show stopper. I’m predicting she will be in the top 3.
Next to go: Blayne, Suede, Stella.
LiAnne is growing on me. Her look last night was cute.
Ok, first of all. I’m a fan of Daniel, and I do think he has great taste, he has just been.. well.. unlucky. The black coctail dress and the first cup dress were amazing! After that it kinda went down hill for him, but I do think he’s a good designer with potential. He said himself that he couldn’t consentrate after Wesley had left, and so you can see it in his designs.. But I do agree, Daniel and Keith were the worst ones in this challenge, and he deserved to go home:(
About Daniel being a bore.. He said it was the editing, they edited him to be this serious guy, when he laughed and joked around all the time, it was the editing! I think he looks like such a sweetheart! He must be special for two people to get a cruch on him, right?! And I do think Keith is grumpy the next epi cause he’s upset that Daniel is gone!
About Daniel and Wesley.. I am so happy for them! They are both great guys, and so cute together! I wish them all the best for the future…;)
