TMZ is reporting, by way of Media Takeout, that Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman (who can currently be seen as Lucius Fox in Batman: The Dark Knight) was involved in a car accident in Mississippi late last night which left him hospitalized. At the time of the initial reporting, no real deets were available about the state of his injuries, only that he was able to talk as he was taken away to the hospital:

TMZ has learned that Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman, 71, has been injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi. Cops tell us the “Dark Knight” star was in a one car accident around 11:30 PM last night north of the small town of Ruleville. He was airlifted from the accident scene to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. We’re told alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the wreck, news of which was first reported by MediaTakeout. Freeman’s condition is unknown, but state troopers tell us he was talking at the scene before he was taken to the hospital. The condition of an unidentified female passenger in the car also is unknown.
This is very sad news, Morgan Freeman is one of my fave actors and I hope that he is doing well. I’m sure there will be more information available in the next day or so but in the meantime I think we should send all our good thoughts and well wishes to Morgan and his female passenger.

I went to see TDK again this weekend and I just kept saying to myself, whenever Morgan Freeman was onscreen, about how much I love this guy. His voice is the best as witnessed in movies such as The Shawshank Redemption and March of the Penguins. He could describe paint drying and I would listen and ask him to tell it again. I hope he is ok. I would cry uncontrollably if anything happened to him.
Reports on the net are saying he was airlifted and is in serious condition. I am very worried. Morgan Freeman is one of our greatest actors and, more importantly, is one of the most sincere and down to Earth people in Hollywood.
I hope he is okay.
I hope he will be OK!!
I love this actor so Much (L)!
Going along with magickat…
CNN is reporting that he is in serious condition.
He and the passenger are in my thoughts!
Noooooooooooo! Save him, Jeebus! My thoughts and prayers are with him and his passenger.
I hope he is alright. He is an awesome actor!
good thoughts! i hope that everything turns out alright.
The whole thing sucks man. I hope he gets better.
I cannot believe this. :( I just watched The Bucket List last night and his performance had me in tears. He’s in my prayers.
I really hope he is ok…I agree with Margie about his voice and presence on screen. I got the text from E! News this morning and couldn’t believe it….I really hope him and his passenger is ok and that it is nothing to serious. They are in my thoughts and prayers.
I hope he pulls through, he always gives such a calming performance.
Just wait for nutjobs to suggest that The Dark Knight is cursed or something.
Honestly, I’am voiceless. The Shawshank Redemption is marvelous. I’am a young movie fan, as a matter of fact, this film came out whenI was very young, and therefore I am more used to films with marvelous special effects, edge-of-your-seat action, et cetera. This film has none of that, and still, it appeals so closely to me . Way Frank Darabont applies the story of Red to drive on the story, the excellent the film music used (note the mouth harp used just before Red getting the letter at the end). The whole film, from starting to closing, from actions to sound, is a beacon of hope, assessment, and repurchase. The cast is pure, Morgan Freeman(Red) really brings about a fresh feel to the film, and that is exactly what the film is, what a film should be. Really recommended for every film fan.
