Milo Ventimiglia Meets Real Life Heroes
Celebrates his birthday in the Middle East

Here are a few pics of Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia that were taken on his recent trip to the Middle East for the USO Tour to visit and entertain our troops who are serving overseas. Milo was in town for his birthday and shared the occasion with some of the troops he visited … check it out:

“Iron Man” isn’t the only superhero to visit the Middle East this summer. Milo Ventimiglia, who plays power-absorbing Peter Petrelli on NBC’s “Heroes,” traveled to the region last week as part of a USO tour of U.S. bases in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. He met many soldiers who were familiar with his show, and had strong opinions about his character’s nemesis, Sylar (played diabolically by Zachary Quinto). “When I was over in Iraq and Afghanistan, a lot of soldiers were like, ‘Dude, will you just kill Sylar already? Will you just get rid of him?’” Ventimiglia told The Associated Press during a telephone interview this week. “And I’m like, ‘Man, I don’t know if you’re gonna want that just yet. I think you’re going to be very surprised as to what happens’” … The 31-year-old actor said returning to Los Angeles — and to work on “Heroes” — feels surreal after his weeklong USO tour. His travel compantions included NFL players Drew Brees, Osi Umenyiora and two Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Blinded by the football star power, some soldiers would “look at me like I was an AP photographer because I was carrying around this gigantic camera with me all the time,” joked Ventimiglia, who snapped a “bunch of great shots” during his trip.

Aww … Milo is the best. I’m sure he did a great job cheering up our soldiers who are actively serving in Iraq right now. I’m not surprised that he would decide to join the USO Tour to support our troops … he is a real Hero, I think.

When the last Rocky came out, my boyfriend was standing in line in NYC to get tickets and happened to be right next to Milo and a friend of Milo’s (this was before Heroes). The friend was obviously super-proud and asked my guy if was seeing Rocky. When hearing yes, he pointed to Milo and said, “This guy’s in it! He plays Rocky’s son!” Apparently Milo was kind of embarrassed but excited and really nice, and they all talked until they went into the theatre. My boyfriend was shocked when he saw the movie that he was actually one of the stars of the picture.

You know, I have a whole lot of respect for Milo after he came to visit us here at FOB Normandy. There are a lot of people who have written us off their books because we work in a “more dangerous” area than some do over here, but from a troops stand point, I totally respect the fact that he came out. I met him at our chow hall and he was really awesome to just talk to, totally laid back and honest. My thanks go out to him and the people who put his trip together.

Jeff, thanks for posting here. We’re all thinking of you – please know that you haven’t been forgotten. I’m really glad that the USO tours give you a lift, because you deserve it. And as a fan of Milo’s, I’m happy that you found him nice to talk to. I’m sending you love and hugs from a distance. Take care and stay safe.
