Earlier this week I posted individual photos (and one group shot) of the principal cast of the new CW series 90210 and I lamented the fact that none of the alums from Beverly Hills, 90210 (who will be appearing on the show) were included in any of the pics posted … but at last the first promo pic of Jennie Garth (who plays Kelly Taylor) has been released:
As y’all know by now, Jennie reprises her role as Kelly Taylor on 90210 … her character has grown-up to become the guidance counselor at West Beverly High, her former faux alma mater. I’ve yet to find any promo pics of either Tori Spelling (as Donna Martin) or Shannen Doherty (as Brenda Walsh) but this pic of Jennie is very nice … she looks amazing! Lord, they all look so styled and so broody … I just hope the show is fun. It would be very disappointing if all of this hype results in a lackluster TV show. I’m pretty confident that the final product will be awesome … at least, it better be!
UPDATE: Whoops! It appears that the shoot wasn’t done on the grounds of Torrance High School but in the backyard of a private residence. Meh, they should’ve gone to the school courtyard instead.

First off anyone who has watched 90210 knows that Kelly Taylor should be the last one to be a guidance counselor. Remember her drug and sex habits. That is just to name a few. What has the woman become a nun since the show ended? The only old cast member I want to see is Brenda! She was the true star of that show and still is. Jennie does look good but Shannen is going to look so much better!!! I think kelly should be that old woman who still hangs with the high school kids. Kind of like Matthew M’s character in Dazed and Confused:)
didn’t she mess around with dylan in the last season but they broke up?? oh yeah kelly’s got morals but then again with her being through all of that she is the one person who can tell these kids what the repercussions are for doing dumb stuff, because you know… someone is going to get high or drunk and do something dumb.
and it’s going to be TV gold
it will probably make her a better guidance counselor for having gone all through that… sound advice comes from experience. she was pretty steady when the show ended.

I hated Kelly, but I suppose she’ll make a good counselor. I wish Shannen Doherty would have been hired for a more permanent role though.
I love Kelly!!! And I agree… she’ll be a great counselor b/c she went through a lot. She was pretty tame by the end… helped at an AIDS place, made good friends w/ the AIDS patient, settled down w/ hot!! Matt, but chose stupid Dylan in the end. She had put the coke and sex fueled days behind her!

thank you erin! as i am an obsessed fan, kelly majored in psychology, then she worked in the free clinic helping people off the street ( i believe that was AFTER he drug phase) and at the end of the 10th season she managed to open up her own business as a therapist, hence why she is not a counselor on the new show. ( i kno…i sound like a crazed fan)

I hear you Mr. Gyllenhaal but usually the ones who clean are the one who have been there. Just works beter that way. She’s still quite attactive..remember thats what’s number one here..If you can act OK but look great. Having said that there will be a breakout star on this show…does anyone wanna guess?

But actually, Kelly was not even working in the psychology field AT ALL at the end of 90210′s run– she left working at Donna’s store to start her own Public Relations firm! Yes, she briefly volunteered at the AIDS home and was a receptionist at the free med clinic — but she had absolutely ZERO actual counseling experience! I hope they explain that by saying she eventually got into the field after the original show ended– b/c I can tell ya there is NO WAY she could work as a school counselor unless her character was licensed & certified! But again, it’s only TV, right?? :)
Oh yeah and I forgot to add that she would also have to have a minimum of a MASTER’S DEGREE in School Psychology to work in state public schools…
I have no idea what happened after season 4…well, actually, I saw half of season 5. But once Brenda left, so did I. So, having said that……………..Kelly and Dylan ended up together?! I thought she married Brandon?!?!?! I hated Kelly and Dylan! She was soooooooo whiny and insecure with him, and I HATED it.

As a School Counselor who graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in School Counseling, I can tell you that a job requirement is not being a “nun”. Didn’t you ever have any teachers that were young, hip, and had a fashion sense?
In my field, what matters most is my ability to relate to students. Just because we work in education doesn’t mean we haven’t had a life.
Kelly was my favorite character on the show, and I am so excited she is coming back.

I Loved Kelly!! And if she was introduced as Kelly McKay, I would be thrilled! Brenda was such a heinous bitch, on screen and in real life. And she looks like shit. I guess being a bitch has taken its toll! haha.
