Mary-Kate Olsen Gets Subpoenaed

She's got some 'splainin' to do
August 6th, 2008

The DEA has got a few questions for Mary-Kate Olsen and they aren’t really in the mood to be offering full immunity to her in order to hear her answers. A new report claims that MK is going to be brought before the grand jury looking at the investigation into the death of Heath Ledger whether she likes it or not. You may recall that MK was the first person called after Heath’s dead body was discovered in his NYC apartment earlier this year … methinks that the DEA and the grand jury want to know the reason why Mary-Kate was the first person called when his dead body was discovered, in her own words:

Despite her claim that she has no information that would help clear up the mystery of Heath Ledger’s overdose death, Mary-Kate Olsen has been issued a subpoena by the Drug Enforcement Administration office in New York, requiring her to testify in front of a grand jury. In a statement issued on Monday, Olsen’s lawyer said that the actress had nothing to do with the drugs that killed Ledger and that she has already cooperated with police in the investigation. Several media outlets also reported that Olsen had refused to speak to investigators unless she was granted immunity from prosecution. “Access Hollywood” broke the news about the subpoena on Tuesday night, but gave no timeline for when Olsen might be called to testify. Five different medications were found in Ledger’s body at the time of his death, three of which he’d gotten from doctors in Texas and Los Angeles. Officials are trying to determine how he got the OxyContin and Vicodin found in his apartment without a legal prescription. Olsen was the first person that Ledger’s housekeeper called after his masseuse found the actor dead from an accidental overdose in his New York apartment on January 22.

Veeeeeeeeery interesting. You know, I always thought it was a bit shady that Mary-Kate Olsen was the person who was first called once Heath’s body was discovered — she was called even before the paramedics were called. There is something not right there. I had a feeling this grand jury biz would be coming along sooner or later. That being said, I don’t really anticipate anything of substance coming from any of this grand jury stuff. Unless there is are hard evidence linking MK to the circumstances surrounding Heath’s untimely death, I highly doubt that anything will stick to her … tho, the investigation may have uncovered some evidence and they want to ask MK questions to see if she really is as innocent as she claims. Man, this grand jury shizz could be heavy … I guess we’ll have to wait and see what comes of it.

Hm, she must know something eh. All very fishy. Or else we’re just all jaded and suspicious nowadays.

  2. PixieBassline Says:

How would she know anything ’special’? It’s possible but I kinda doubt it……………. I think the person who called her instead of an ambulance was an IDIOT.

  3. lupe Says:

Although I was very saddened by Heath’s untimely death, I can’t wait until they make this whole thing into a Law and Order episode. They just have to!

  4. Supernetuser Says:

She’s going to have to face an investigation of some kind. There is no way out of this. Immunity? You’ve got to be kidding, I didn’t know that was possible.

  5. Ohmygoshi Says:

Why would she request FULL IMMUNITY if she had nothing to hide? To me the whole thing is extremely fishy…and I agree with lupe, this is just a law and order episode waiting to happen.

Sounds like the DEA believe MK had something to do w the drugs HL had that did not have a prescription. She’s a stupid drug whore anyhow. I’d LOVE to see her busted for something in all this. I DESPISE her. Maybe she’ll kill herself first. Now THAT would be a good L&O episode!

  7. schmee Says:

Wow… wishing someone would kill themselves is really nasty. Maybe the Jane who commented that should save the world some time and wear a tshirt with the word Bitch on it.

  8. Jane Says:

Gee, bet there are millions of ppl out there who wish that skank troll was dead. That’s probably why she’s on several celeb Death Wish lists. You go save the world. Oh wait, maybe MK can save it. She can give us all drugs and slaughter more animals for Fashion. I’ll say it again, Go Starve Yourself MK. Or OD and get it done faster!

I’m with you, Pixie – no matter what that masseuse thought MK knew, the first call OBVIOUSLY should have been to 911. Now, as for what MK does know, I’m pretty damn curious at this point, because she is acting way sketchy.

  10. Natty Says:

Maybe they should ask the masseuse why he/she called her. I agree they should talk to her though.

  11. Posh Says:

I just read an article on yahoo news; they’re apparently calling off the investigation due to no “viable target”. I can’t believe this! Heath Ledger and his family deserve more than a ridiculously brief tête-à-tête with the only person who has any clue what’s going on.

  13. Joanne Says:

How did the woman that found Heath, know to call her first? The only way is if an instruction was given … “if this happens -you do this and this”. Like they knew he would be found dead at some point. It’s all too suspicious. DRUGS SUCK!

  14. Jaded Says:

They have finished the investigation and it is not going to the grand jury. It was all a bunch of starf***ing and grand standing by the DEA. As for the masseuse calling her first it could be a million totally innocent reasons like: “Oh, my God I just fund a major celebrity dead do I call regular 911 or is there someone else I call to keep it from the paparazzi, hey let me call MK and ask her” or OMG I just found the guy MK may or may not be dating dead she needs to know before the paps tell her, or even hey I don’t know if Heath is a druggie because I’m only the masseuse and before I call the cops is there anything I should remove from the apartment (yes it’s illegal I know) so his family and the world don’t find out.
I know we like to speculate, but really people, no one knows what her reasoning was, and the only people at this point who even have a right to ask are his parents and his child. It was ruled and accidental overdose, meaning no one is going to jail so it’s no one’s business.

  15. mimi Says:

I agree with Ohmygosh! Why on earth would MK request FULL IMMUNITY if she had nothing to hide? Why was she called BEFORE 911? None of that seems right. Surely there is good reason why she is protecting herself.

Jaded, surely you can’t expect people not to talk about this. Of course it’s “none of our business”, but it doesn’t mean people aren’t going to discuss what may or may not have happened on that unfortunate day.

I hope the truth is uncovered for Heath’s family at the very least. They deserve to know what really happened.

  16. mimi Says:

ps – is that really MK in the photo? looks more like ashley to me :P

  17. wendell Says:

She is a celebrity. Of course her “people” are going to call her first to see what to do. They are paid to consider HER above all else. I don’t think it’s surprising at all that she was called before anyone else. It was her apartment for god’s sake.
