Mackenzie Phillips Busted!
Now this is really sad news … Mackenzie Phillips, former One Day at a Time star and daughter of Mamas and the Papas singer John Phillips, was arrested at LAX Airport this morning for drug possession. According to TMZ, Phillips was allegedly nabbed with heroin and cocaine on her person:
Mackenzie Phillips has been busted at LAX for allegedly possessing heroin and cocaine. She’s in custody right now. At 10:00 AM, officers responded to Terminal 4, where 48-year-old Phillips was being screened by TSA. During the screening process, some baggies and balloons believed to contain heroin and cocaine were recovered.
I know that a great many of you may not even remember Mackenzie Phillips from her hey day in the early 80’s but I do and know that she has since dealt with major drug issues over the years which, it would seem, she is still struggling with today. Hopefully this arrest will finally help Mackenzie come to grips with her demons. Sad, sad news.

Wasnt she on some nikolodeon or disney show in the 90’s? it was a paranormal show or something. anyone else remember that? sad news.

Sorry to hear this. Recovery is a process that takes a lifetime, and relapse is a part of the process; there is no cure. I hope she gets herself back on track again.

Oh no, that’s awful! I only really know about her from her “E! True Hollywood Story” in which she and her dad actually gave personal interviews. It had seemed like she had been able to overcome her addictions, but I guess not. . .

I remember her from the One Day At A Time show. This is very sad. I know she’s been battling drug addiction for a very long time. Hopefully her son isn’t too traumatized by this. I pray she gets the help she needs.

yah thats it… that was like my favorite show! thanks guys for the help. hopefully she can battle her demons once and for all.. its sad to see celebs go through this… especially talented ones. i remember her singing on the show.. she was good! :( so sad.

That’s really too bad… I know she has dealt with drug problems before and I hope she has the strength and support to over come the addictions! My thoughts will be with her!

What is a shame is that if those drugs had been in bottles from a major drug company then she’d also be happily going about her business.
Grow up!! the war on drugs is bogus and has only served to further reduce our Personal Freedoms and Civil Rights in a supposedly free country.

Please … when you go through an airport with illegal drugs – you WANT to get caught. She was probably after a career boost (and ET, E!, and Dr Phil will happily give it to her after this). Our society is only interested in negative behavior and giving people like this attention and publicity.

Just saw a documentary on One Day At A Time filmed in 2000 where she was talking about how clean she was and how her, Valerie Bertinelli had reconciled, and how the rest of the cast was so happy that she was doing well. How sad. I’m so glad I can’t afford drugs.

I really loved One Day At A Time! So sad for Mackenzie — hard to get clean and stay clean, I’m guessing. Here’s hoping things improve — hell, I remember her father’s massive drug problems given my age!

Although I am saddened to read that Ms. Phillips continues to battle her addictions (and I hope she can get back to “one day at a time”), I think it is MORE distressing that it was discovered as she was passing through the DHS screening site. I guess personal privacy in America is dead, dead, dead.
