Lance Bass, who has just been announced as one of the celebrity contestants in the upcoming new season of ABC‘s Dancing with the Stars, has updated his official My Space profile with the first pics of him rehearsing for the show with his “professional” dance partner Lacey Schwimmer (who joins the DWTS family this season, you may recall Lacey was a finale finalist on the third season of So You Think You Can Dance which, apparently, makes her a “professional”) … check ‘em out:

While I really wish that DWTS would’ve had the balls to pair my boy Lance up with a male professional dancer (mebbe that cute Travis guy from SYTYCD) but I totally get that middle America (ie. target audience) ain’t really ready for something like that. I’m not a big DWTS fan but I will deffo be rooting for Lance … tho, I think I may have to split my lurve between Lance and another of this upcoming season’s celeb contestants. After the jump, find out who else I’ll be cheering on this season …
It’s Cloris Leachman, bitches:

Y’all betta recognize. Any DWTS fans out there? What do you y’all think about this new cast made up of former ‘N Sync member Lance Bass; Grammy-winning singer and actress Toni Braxton; model, actress and former Rock Star host Brooke Burke; celebrity chef, former The Restaurant star and upcoming Rocco Gets Real star Rocco DiSpirito; two-time Olympic gold medalist track star Maurice Greene; Keeping up with the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian; award-winning actress and former Facts of Life star Cloris Leachman; teenage Hannah Montana actor Cody Linley; legendary All My Children actress Susan Lucci; two-time Olympic gold medalist beach volleyball player Misty May-Treanor; former Happy Days and Married … with Children actor Ted McGinley; comedian and actor Jeffrey Ross; and recently retired NFL player Warren Sapp — Who are y’all rootin’ for?

I am sorry but he is just not good looking. But I wish him the best on the show!
I don’t really follow this show religiously, but I’ve watched here and there..I’ll probably tune in to watch Cloris Leachman..She is such a funny actress..She was so hilarious in High Anxiety! I hope she brings the funny to the show..I’m also excited to see Misty May! She’s so adorable and such a badass on the beach!! I was surprised to see her on there because she mentioned wanting to start a family right after the Olympics..And Ted McGinley!! I don’t know why, but I love him!! I think I’m more excited about the cast this year than any other year..Hopefully that “celebrity” Kim K gets kicked off early..
I think it’s kind of ridiculous that they were even considering pairing 2 men together. I’m all for the gay inclusion (I’m gay), but ballroom dancing isn’t about dancing with someone you’re sexually attracted to… It’s about a man and a woman dancing together.
Also, Lacey is totally a professional! She is like a world champion dancer.
i love love love DWTS. i can’t wait for this season to begin.
lance bass was my favorite nsyncer so of course i want him to go all the way. i also think toni braxton will probably do very well.
i agree that it would be good to see lance with a male partner, but you’re right, america is just not ready for that – that would probably create the type of conflict DWTS tries to avoid.
lacey isnt professional?

sounds pretty good to me…..
Cloris Leachman!!!!!!! I’m rooting for this 80+ year-old bitch to kick some serious ass! She has some serious spunk! Not to mention, I’ve loved her since she replaced the o-so-annoying Charlotte Rae on Facts of Life! Wow, this is the gayest comment I’ve ever written.
OH, I guess I stand corrected :)
There’s a misconception that SYTYCD is the dancing equivalent of American Idol, i.e., these are non-professionals. Most of the competitors on SYTYCD are professionals — Danny Tidwell, for example, was with the American Ballet Theater and runs his own dance company. Lacey was one of my favorites and it will be great to see her on DWTS.
It’s also going to be great to see Maks back!
Team Bass all the way!!!!!!
I’m so freakin excited that Lacey is going to be on DWTS. So here’s my tirade, not that anyone cares, but I stopped watching DWTS when the one legged Gold Digging Whore was on, and was just done with the whole show, but now that Lacey is on, I’ll totes watch it again. They’ve redeemed themselves.
I’m not sure what you mean by Lacey is a “professional” dancer. It’s not like she went on SYTYCD to learn to dance, she’s been doing it way before that. You could just as well say the DWTS people are “professional” dancers too.
Either way, I’m excited Lacey will be on this season. I stopped watching the last few seasons as they tend to do the same dances all the time, but I may check in for this one. Also to see how long Kim Kardashian will last. How random was that choice? Lance I’m not too worried about, he’ll do fine.
I’m rooting for Lance FOR SURE.
Lacey was one of my favorites from SYTYCD; her and Lance are going to be the couple to watch! She did an amazing job with all of the genres, but she was outstanding when it came to ballroom. I always thought DWTS was for middle-aged women, but I may tune in this year…
I didn’t watch last season, but I sure will this time. I mean, hello: Misty May-Treanor and Maks? HAWTNESS! Hopefully Misty gets some of Edyta’s costumes. ;) And gotta root for my boy Lance and Lacey…I see them sticking around. I saw Lacey’s turn on SYTYCD and she was brilliant! I’m sorry, Trent, but I don’t really think Lance with a male partner would’ve worked. (and yes, I’m gay too.)
I watch Dancing with the Stars with my mom religiously. Although it is seriously difficult to get through without Tivo :) Three hours of it a week is a lot o’ dancin. I will be rooting for Susan Lucci, Cloris Leachman, and Kim Kardashian for sure. Sorry… but I like Kim Kardashian. I think I am probably alone on this one…
Someone I know ran into Lance in a restaurant and said he’s much cuter in person and that he is really a nice down-to-earth guy. He signed autographs and posed for pictures and didn’t cop any sort of ‘tude at all. I was never a fan B4 hearing this but now I say More Power . . . I’ll always stand behind celebs who are polite and gracious to their fans, not total DICKS like GEORGE CLOONEY!
Isn’t one of the reasons for pairing men and women together that a man can lift a woman during certain routines?
I think it’s kinda silly to accuse DTWS of not ‘having the balls’ to do so. To me it seems athletically not possible.
Men lift men in ballet all the time, it takes a real man to be able to lift another man ;)

Which ballets have men lifting men? And comparing ballet and ballroom is like comparing apples and oranges. Ballroom is about a man and a woman dancing together and both of them have very very different roles…
