Earlier today I posted a newslink regarding Jessica Simpson‘s new gig as a beer spokesperson … and now we have our first look at the new ad campaign for Stampede Light Plus beer:
Jessica Simpson is now selling beer. The singer and actress has signed on as spokeswoman for Stampede Light Plus, made by Dallas’ Stampede Brewing Co. Simpson will appear in ads in stores for the beer and is taking a 15% stake in the brewer. The Dallas Morning News says terms were not disclosed. Lawrence Schwartz, Stampede’s president and chief executive, says Simpson is the now face of the brand. Simpson said in a statement that as an entrepreneur she’s “always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people.” Stampede Light bills itself as a beer for active people.
UHHH … is it just me or does anyone else think this is a horrrrrrible idea. I get that Jessica is trying to break into the Country Music market but does that mean she has to become a beer spokesperson? Trust me, I like beer but … I dunno … something about shilling for booze seems a bit … trashy. Olympic athletes score campaigns for healthy breakfast foods and poor Jess is trying to get people to drink “beer for active people”. This whole thing just smells like a Papa Joe Simpson idea … to me, it just fees like a really bad idea. Thoughts?
I find a lot of irony with this ad. She’s not know as the sharpest crayon in the box and they are marketing their beer as “smart” with her photo? I can’t figure out if they are trying to insult their own product or what.
*Seriously, she actually might be intelligent, but no one thinks Einstein when they see her. Just not the vibe she gives off, you know?

LMAO! OK, so I hate to make the comparisons, but sometimes they make themselves. Carrie Underwood dated Romo, sings country (extremely well, and yes I’m biased!) and promotes Vitamin Water….for someone who claims that she’s not trying to copy Carrie…Jessica ain’t doing so good! Serioulsy, though…VitaminBeer? WTF is she thinking?!
And what’s with the fancy words? “Diversify my portfolio?” With what…colored note cards?
i wouldnt buy anything with her troll face promoting it. Its extremely trashy, and kind of a last ditch effort to save her foundering (hah!) career, if she ever really had one.
Lulu: I’m aware that she was styled by someone else for this shoot… but what about when she got off the plane looking all wannabe-cowgirl-ish? I just think it’s so sad that’s she’s cheapened herself so much… poor girl probably thinks she looks sexy lol

I love Jessica Simpson but she’s trying too hard, this whole beer thing (ad included) is too trashy for words, and she desperately needs new management. I mean, the girl has just as much talent as the rest of these pop tarts out here but she’s never been marketed properly. It’s a crying shame. I mean, her dad could really take lessons from Beyonce’s dad. If you’re going to pimp out your daughter, that’s the way to do it.
I guess I’m in the minority, I think she looks good. Makeup is done well, I like the skirt/ hat. The only thing I don’t like is the shirt. But yea I think she looks good here.

why do all these women who pout (the olsen’s, JLo, etc) all look like they are farting? IS it just me, or does she just look like she let out the best far ever?

OK…I like Jessica Simpson. I think she has a great voice, and I’m all for her getting into the country thing…I think she’ll be good at it. What I don’t get is the pout. Why can’t she just smile every once in a while…or, better yet, all the time. The pout does nothing for her, and neither will promoting beer. I get that she needs to get back into the public eye but there has got to be a less trashy way to present the image that she should be presenting.
I think it gets a lot harder to smile when you keep getting lip injections…
