Jennifer Lopez Gets In Shape On ‘GMA’

Also gets in 'Self' magazine
August 18th, 2008

New mom Jennifer Lopez made an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America (which taped her segment in NYC’s Central Park) this AM in order to engage in a little physical fitness on national TV. J. Lo revealed that she is currently in training to participate in a triathalon to raise money for charity. Here are a few pics of La Diva Latina doing her thang on GMA this morning:

New mom and Self’s Most Inspiring Woman of 2008 Jennifer Lopez was on Good Morning America today talking twins and triathlon training. About her triathlon plans, she had this to say: “It actually came up when I was about 8 months pregnant and I was beached like a whale. I was watching TV and I saw a triathlon and I said, ‘You know what? I think I could do that, that would be great for me to do. Maybe I’ll do it this year.’” And seven months later, she’s ready to swim, bike and run in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon this Sept. 14—for charity, of course. Now on to the stuff we really care about—babies! She says her 6-month-old twins, Emme and Max, are already sleeping through the night and that so far, she and Marc have been doing the baby raising all on their own without any nannies. Sounds suspicious to us—we can’t imagine J.Lo changing any diapers, but that’s probably what Marc is for.

Lo being named the Most Inspiring Woman of 2008, Self magazine decided to put Ms. Inspirational on the cover and in the pages of their new issue. And, get this, she’s even blogging about her triathlon training for the magazine. After the jump, check out J. Lo’s Self magazine cover and find out more about her new blog …

Jennifer Lopez, SELF Magazine’s September cover model, launches an exclusive new blog at www.Self.com when the magazine hits newsstands on Monday, August 18. Lopez, one of SELF’s reader picks for the 10 Most Inspiring Women of 2008, will raise money for the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles by competing in her first triathlon with SELF Editor-in-Chief Lucy Danziger. Doing the race the same year as she gave birth to twins and as a way to support an important charity combines several of Lopez’s personal post-baby goals. She tells SELF, “The babies have actually made me more ambitious. I feel all this newfound inspiration.” Lopez’s personal www.Self.com blog features exclusive video and photos taken during her workout program designed by trainer Gunnar Peterson. In the first entry, learn why Lopez is taking on this challenge and see her biking and running in preparation for her big race. In her own words, “I’ve always loved sports. I used to be on a track team in school. And that’s probably why I can think to myself now, Yeah, I can do this, which is totally crazy! The team was a big part of my life back then and taught me so many things. When I look back on my life and what I’m able to do, it’s partly because of that early training. It taught me discipline, how to be committed, about striving to win, stamina, all that good stuff.” “Now I’ve come full circle,” says Lopez. “I don’t expect to win this race; my goal is to finish. I’ll probably end up crawling across the finish line, but I’ll do it!” Just 6 months after having the babies, Lopez is totally toned, with sexy muscles and flat, rock-hard abs. Check back HERE over the next 4 weeks for regular updates on Lopez’s race ramp-up and exclusive behind-the-scenes video and photos. Cheer her on as she strives to make her twins proud!

Here is a small portion of Jenny’s first blogpost for Self magazine:

“I’ve always loved sports. I used to be on a track team in school. And that’s probably why I can think to myself now, Yeah, I can do this, which is totally crazy! The team was a big part of my life back then and taught me so many things. When I look back on my life and what I’m able to do, it’s partly because of that early training. It taught me discipline, how to be committed, about striving to win, stamina, all that good stuff. The sports training also helped me deal with losing and rejection and all the things you go through when starting out in show business. I think that’s why I was able to bounce back all the time. With track, I didn’t let anything get to me. I would just think, Whatever, tomorrow’s the next race, and I’m going to train harder and win next week. And I won maybe 70 or 80 medals and trophies over those years. I should dig those out! Now I’ve come full circle. I don’t expect to win this race; my goal is to finish. I’ll probably end up crawling across the finish line, but I’ll do it!”

This is pretty awesome. The woman just gave birth to twins and now she’s taking on an endeavor of this magnitude … and she’s raising money for such a good cause? It appears that someone is gunning for some kind of sainthood, perhaps (Angelina better watch her back). Actually, I think that J. Lo is just really excited to get back into shape and wants to do things properly. I wish her luck and will be rootin’ for her. If you would like to donate some $$$ to J. Lo’s quest to raise funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles you can do so HERE.

Even though it can be seen as a self-serving way to get the baby weight off, good for her. And good for her for NOT using a nanny!

BTW, LOVE that she’s wearing hoops while training. Go JLO!

Who care about her doing a triathlon. She was fit to begin with, had 2 babies and has the money to hire a trainer. For someone who is fit and healthy its not a hard thing to do. GET OVER IT J-LO
