Jason Statham, who is all kinds of manly man hot, is featured in the new issue of GQ magazine modeling suits and accessories that show GQ readers how to be the Best Dressed Man at the Office. Uh hun, whatevs … you put Jason Statham in a suit and I’ll stand up and take notice, behold:

Jason Statham’s voice marks him immediately not so much as an alpha male, but as an alpha bloke. It’s gravelly but melodic in that working-class-Brit way, and it’s on good display in this month’s Death Race, a sort of amped-up remake of the Stallone-Carradine film from 1975. This time out, a prison warden played by Joan Allen forces her cons to compete in a deadly NASCAR game. “The cars are a bit ‘ard to drive,” explains Statham, “because dey got aull dese guns mounted on ‘em.” It’s no surprise that Statham scored his first acting job — in 1998′s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels — by doing an impression of a street vendor for director Guy Ritchie. It helped that his day job at the time was what Londoners call fly pitching. “It’s street-corner sales, on the fly,” Statham says. “You open up your case, and when the police come you close up. It’s kind of illegal. That’s why you work with lookouts and several stooges wiffin the crowd.” Two modest Ritchie parts were enough to convince Luc Besson that this man could carry The Transporter in 2002. With his brand of athleticism in short supply, he’s worked steadily ever since (like in this year’s surprisingly good hit The Bank Job). The hardest part of staying in action-hero shape? “Booze is difficult to give up if you’re from the UK,” Statham says. Though his work is in L.A., the 36-year-old actor holds on to a place in London. “When I get sick of one, I go to the other,” he says. “Hollywood’s a desperate town; people are obsessed with the industry, and there’s all the horrible bullshit that goes with that, so it’s hard to find a nice girl. But Brits walk around hanging their heads and moaning all day.” “So,” he concludes, with a cheerful little lift in pitch, “you just can’t win.”
Generally, I’m on board with Jason Statham films … they’re usually mindlessly fun movies … but I must confess that I have zero interest in Death Race. I can take comfort, tho, in the fact that Statham has signed on to make a third Transporter movie for which I will be eternally grateful. If you’ve never seen either the Transporter or Transporter 2 I urge you to check either of them out. Seeing the first one isn’t a requirement to enjoy the second one … they each stand pretty much on their own. I find them both horribly entertaining. They feature feats that are physically impossible and, yet, totally believable. This man does things with his body — while wearing a suit, I might add — that is not to be missed. Oh yes, I’m a big Statham fan … Woot!
