Is The Riddler Headed For Gotham City?
My French boys at Oh La La came across a new Batman movie poster that I’m fairly certain is a fake/fan made poster that was whipped up for the next movie in the franchise … which hasn’t even been written yet. Honestly, the poster is pretty damn good, I think, so I figured it’d be worth sharing:
There are a lot of rumors going around that The Riddler (Johnny Depp’s name has been thrown around to play him) will be the villain in the next Batman movie, some say it’ll be Catwoman (I would deffo be on board if they got Angelina Jolie to squeeze into the Catsuit) … still others think it may be The Penguin (Philip Seymour Hoffman anyone?). At this point, it’s impossible to know because, hello, The Dark Knight is still in theaters. But, if they were going to go The Riddler route, I think this kind of poster would be awesome. I’d bet money that they would never name the next film The Dark Knight Returns … but still, it’s a pretty cool poster don’tcha think?

Why can’t they leave the Batman franchise alone!?!?! They already had a riddler, a penguin, a catwoman. I have not and will not support hollywoods effort to make money on the same story lines reworked because they can’t come up with original ideas!

I agree with you they would not name it the dark knight returns but that would be a cool lead in to a new title… i would love love love the riddler talk about a cool marketing campgain…

I thought that having the Penguin be the next villain would be awful…until you mentioned Phillip Seymour Hoffman. With him in the role it could kick some serious ass.

If angelina jolie signed on to the series in ANY way, I’d abandon ship. Shes not a god, people….
She hasnt been in a GOOD movie in almost 10 years. Everything she does is the same character. She doesnt even have a solid accent down, it always comes off as greek british….

i agree. jolie would ruin it :( BUT thats not really an issue right now. johnny deep as the riddler would be amazing, so would crispin too.

Johnny Depp as the Riddler would be AMAZING.
Sheri-Lee, Batman and the Dark Knight were two DIFFERENT comic books and therefore they are two DIFFERENT movie franchises. Watch the movies and compare, even with the same villians, they are very different. In the ‘Batman’ series he is a hero and gladly fills that suit. In the Dark Knight series, he is very vengeful and in a dark place (hence the name) and the citizens don’t know if they love/hate him or trust/fear him.

The new villain won’t be the Penguin or Catwoman, almost for certain, as Christopher Nolan has said he has no desire to visit those characters. He (and most fans) feel that they have become too campy and clichéd to fit into the new, darker, franchise.

I totally disagree that either Penguin or Catwoman are “too campy” to work in future Nolan films. Two-Face was prolly the WORST villain to appear in the 90’s Batman films (and Scarecrow always seemed like a joke to me — until he showed up in Batman Begins) and yet he was adapted into a very cool character for TDK. I absolutely believe that any of the Batman villains could be adapted if done so properly. People may dislike Angelina Jolie for whatever reason, but the idea of her in the Catsuit just thrills me to no end. She’s the right age and of the right acting caliber to fit in with Bale, Olman, etc. in a new film.

It’s an awesome fan-made poster but I don’t see the Riddle being the next villain. I vaguely remember reading an interview with Christopher Nolan where he said he didn’t want to use a villain that was already in one of the other Batman movies. And I hope that’s true. Batman has a ton of great villains and they don’t need to keep using the same ones. I would LOVE to see Nolan’s take on Catwoman. And Batgirl of course but I doubt that will ever happen :(

omg i hope they dont bring back catwomen that would be so lame,same with the penguin. johnny depp as the riddler would be flipping amazing. me and my brother were having an intense conversation and they should bring back CLAYFACE! he is AWESOME! even though the joker has been used twice in the batman movies, they really should bring back a villian that hasnt been used in any of the other movies.
me and my brother also had this idea like if they bring back the riddler and they want to bring back robin, the riddler should kill off robin in the first 10 minutes. that would be really awesome cause everyone hates robin hahahaha

Christian Bale and Johnny Depp are going to appear together in the John Dillinger gangster biopic that’s coming out next year! Also starring are Billy Crudup and Channing Tatum. It’s been filming in Chicago and the midwest this summer. Wish granted! :-)

I don’t think angie would be good for catwomen, it would be too much of a cliche, when heath did joker it was more surprising.
