  1. Mr. Gyllenhaal Says:

I think it looks pretty funny! I love when she says “I am a trophy wife”..that was good. Anyways, I will have to wait and see when it comes out. It is hard to tell by a 20 second preview!!

  2. alicia Says:

molly seems great selma ehhh not sold yet….. looks cute though!

  3. Anna Says:

I am so excited about this! NBC does an amazing job with The Office, why wouldn’t they do a good job with Kath and Kim? Give these guys some credit, they know what they’re doing.

  4. Kathleen Says:

    I LOVE Molly Shannon!!

  5. LAN Says:

Looks stupid to me. Of course I don’t really like Molly Shannon.

  6. debho Says:

Hmm, I can’t help but compare this with our own Kath and Kim, which is hilarious. Selma doesn’t appear to be brash enough to be Kim. And where is Kath’s permed afro?
I guess though if you haven’t seen the original you wouldn’t know the differences.

  7. k-walla Says:

Hey, I went to college with that dude in the previews! cool, I’ll def watch now…

  8. nikki Says:

The original Kath and Kim is fantastic and therefore I think that this one will be good also. The original is such a classic that NBC wouldn’t risk making fools of themselves by making a rubbish copy. Selma seems to have got the Kim attitude down.

  9. Stephanie Says:

eh.. It looks really cute, i’ll definately tune in to see the pilot. just not sure i it’ll hook me or not..

  10. Sassy K Says:

    Not funny.

  11. Abc123 Says:

It might work. Of course it will have to be on a night that I have nothing else to watch or I’ll never see it. Haha (:

  12. Heather Says:

I love it! I wish I had cable. Hopefully I can watch it online.

Dude, that guy, the husband, is in a few sketches on funnyordie.com. The ones where they make fun of David Blaine. They are soooo funny! “Dude, I just pissed orange soda!” ha ha hhhaaaa ha! :)

  13. m. Says:

Arg! The Aussie version is brilliant! There is no way the new one can catch the essence of the original… but they can try. Kim needs to be way harsher and Kath… I love Molly Shannon, but I don’t think she can compare.

  14. Mark Says:

Kim is way too thin. Part of the humour in the Australian version is seeing Kim pouring out of outfits that are far too small. And will it be the same without “Kimmuuuy”? I’ll give it a chance, but don’t hold out much hope.

  15. teeny Says:

Ive nversen th astralian version so i have no bass for comparson… but it looks funny and cute to me :)

  16. Julia Says:

I’ve only seen one episode of the Australian series (although it’s very, very memorable), but I think both actresses need to amp up their vibe of bone-deep dorkiness about 1000% to recapture the glory of the original.

  17. That Girl Says:

I’ve been critical of this “Americanizing” of K&K since first hearing NBC was doing it. The only semi-funny promo is “Home Again”… but the show will probably do well since it is part of Must-See TV’s line-up — it already has a built-in viewership.

  18. monica Says:

I think it looks worth checking out! I’ve never seen the Australian version so don’t have anything to compare it to. I did watch the British version of The Office before that started and had a hard time with the American version at first. I love it now, though! So I think NBC can do well with this if they keep it true to its roots, but also give it its own American flair like they did with The Office.

  19. Ashley Says:

To Heather: Thanks! I knew I had seen that guy somewhere, those youtube vides are HILARIOUS

Trent if you haven’t seen the fake david blaine sketches you have to watch them! just youtube “david blaines street show” they’re awesome :)

  20. Heidi Says:

Ok, I’m Australian and probably biased, but it doesn’t look anywhere near as funny as the Oz Kath and Kim. Although I’m sure it will still be funny in its own right….there are a lot of ‘in’ jokes in the oz Kath and Kim, so its understandable that the U.S wants/needs to adapt it for their audience.

  21. Frankie G Says:

Looks funny, I love both of them…it just seems like they a pushing some of the jokes a bit hard…but can’t wait!

  22. Katie Says:

i doubted the office when it premiered on NBC citing the fact that British imports are never as good when they’re americanized, but i’m a HUGE fan now. i’m been proved wrong once, i can see them proving me wrong again…

  23. Amanda Says:

This just doesn’t seem to get the original Australian versions humour, it seems to glamorous to be Kath & Kim.. Both actresses are way to pretty and made up to compare, one of the things that made Kimmy so funny was that she though she was a supermodel, but was far from it, squeezing herself into too tight closes with her g-string (sorry Thong for you americians) half way up her back. Brett (kim’s husband) is way to good looking. Kath’s boyfriend seems to be the only one that comes close, but is he a butcher and what amazing things can he do with a sausage?!

  24. Christine Says:

It just doesn’t seem right to me. Where is Kim’s bulging tummy? Where is Kath’s perm? Where are the thick accents? I know they have to make the show their own but it seems to be missing so much of what makes the Aussie version so hilarious. If you haven’t seen the Aussie version then I guess it may seem good.

  25. Joanne Says:

Sorry – but is just not the same without Kim’s ‘muffin-top’. Kim’s chubbie-ness is such a part of the whole storyline …

  26. Paz Says:

When I first heard that Molly Shannon was being cast as Selma Blair’s mother, I thought WTF?
But this looks too funny, albeit I havent seen the Aussie version.

  27. Chloe Says:

The Aussie version is MUCH better. This one just looks dumb.

  28. ash Says:

it looks hilarious! counting down the days!

  29. adele Says:

uhhh. I’m from Australia, and there is NO WAY that the American version will be even close to funny…sorry. Kim, first of all, needs to be overweight. It’s what makes her so funny, walking around in her 3 sizes too small clothes with her muffin top hanging out. And Kath :( Where’s the permed afro?? C’mon…this show doesn’t have a chance ^_^

  30. Linnea1928 Says:

I don’t know. I love Molly shannon in general, but the original Kath and Kim is SO FUNNY! I’m just a little hesitant.

  31. eiBeauty Says:

I love both actresses but not in this way. The original Aussie version is brilliantly dry and unknowingly self-delusional which is always a riot to watch (also like some guys I have dated). There isn’t enough contrast for the visual to be hard-hitting. I wish them the best but doubt it should even be called Kath & Kim.

  32. jason Says:

Where’s Sharon? Who’s playing Sharon? Not sure if i’m liking this or not. I’ve been watching Big Girls Blouse and loving the original concepts of Kath and Kim and I’m a huge Kath and Kim fan from the what was aired here on TV, so not yet sold on Molly or Selma playing the roles.

  33. Jon Says:

As a fan of the original, I personally can’t wait to see the NBC version. I like the spin they have put on it!

  34. sarah Says:

nay! they can try but they will most likely fail. they don’t even do the bogan voices

  35. Talia Says:

this looks pretty crap compared to the oz version & selma is way to thin to play kim

  36. mimi Says:

jason: i didnt even think of that!! there will only ever be one sharon in my eyes, no-one will live up to madga s!

  37. Monica Says:

Hey…just putting it out there the US version will be no where near as good as the ORIGINAL aussie version. I mean what new thing is better than the original? The aussie show was funny because it was different, there was nothing else like it and it incorporates so many jokes that can only apply to Australia. I am a little biased since im an aussie but i just don’t want to see the original kath and kim trashed because it was so amazing.

  38. Cosmo Guy Says:

Hopefully the US version will be good in it’s own way but it will never be the OZ version!

  39. Jake Says:

Oh my god is everybody here retarded? This is the most unfunny piece of crap I’ve ever seen. It should never have been done. Please just watch our aussie version. Deary me…

  40. Amanda Says:

I think it looks hilarious! But it makes sense that it is less brash than the Australian version. American are less brash than Aussies. Our culture is different.

  41. liam Says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. “Meh” to this US version of K&K. Like everyone else has said, the Oz original is just way too good to be tamed for American TV. Shame cos it will really dilute the K&K vibe with this inferior tosh. I’m literally incandescent with rage ;)

  42. JayMo Says:

I have recently watched the Australian version–Epponnee’s birthday episode, on a Singapore Airlines flight. (Epponnee is Kim’s daughter, whom she wants to host a celebrity themed birthday for…but the baby is only turning 1) The episode is absolutely hilarious, but all the characters seemed to add to the oddness and humor of the storyline. I’m not so sure that is what NBC is aiming for with this version. Also, as you previously mentioned, Kim is much more overweight and unattractive than Selma, so I’m wondering why she was cast to begin with. I really like her, but not in this role.

  43. lisa Says:

I don’t think it will be as good as the Aussie version. It’s a classic here that everyone of all ages knows about and I have never ever met someone who disliked it. I guess we will just have to cross our fingers and hope it doesn’t turn out crap. The most annoying thing to me though is the fact that when the advrtisement says “Australia’s number 1″ it makes it sound a though we love the US version, thus fooling people into thinking the Aus public approves of it. By the looks of alot of these comments, we DON’T.

  44. Kelly Says:

Selma isn’t fat enough to play Kimmy. And what about “Look at Moi!”?

I would have thought that stereotyped Australian TV would have sold in the US, now that Steve Irwin isn’t around, making people believe that we all wrestle dangerous reptiles Croc Dundee style.

I’m sorry, but as far as I’m concerned “Australia’s number 1 show” has been massacred.

  45. Lexie Says:

    Look at Moiiiii Kimmayyy!

It’s just not the same, i didn’t even crack a smile watching these previews. It hardly looks funny at all. It should be alot more over the top than it is, i’m just not sold on Selma’s portrayal of Kim either. The muffin top is epic, it’s just not the same without it. Obviously it will need to be different to get across to the American Viewers, but it looks as though they’ve used to concept and changed it so much that theres no point calling it Kath and Kim. That said, i think Americans are missing out on one of the best shows. Watch the original version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. jas Says:

haha that looks funny… but i agree kim is meant to be fatter, where is sharon, where is kaths hair…
when i heard it was selma blair i was like wtf she’s gorgeous… kim is not attractive which is why it is funny that she thinks she is. selma blair is beautiful.
won’t be as good as aussie version. might be ok.

  47. Davina Says:

Im sorry, i dont think this show is going to work, everything Kath and Kim is about, looks like the american version has overlooked it all…. Here is hoping that if the Australian version aires in the US, the American version wont tarnish it…
Most American versions dont work… look at Men behaving badly, best british comedy, i couldnt watch the American one, please just aire the original series, stop making copies!! The only shows that should be copied are games shows/reality tv!

  48. Allanah Says:

I think what makes the American version less appealing is the totally obviousness of the humour, the Australian version is pure gold (I’m from New Zealand….therefore I may be biased) and while the pure slapstick humour is funny its the subtle inside jokes that most people from outside Aus/NZ wouldn’t necessarily and I don’t think America could poke fun at itself in the same way that Aussie can (ohh, did I just?!)

OH and whether or not Sharon is in the American version or not, she wouldn’t be as good as the Aussie Shazza:
    1) I’m guessing Magda Szubanski wouldn’t be playing her, and
    2) AMERICANS DON’T PLAY CRICKET OR NETBALL, therefore the main essance of the character is gone. I doubt many americans would get the references to Shane ‘Warney’ Warne aka Sharons idol. I reckon Sharon would be wasted on this version anyway.

BUT in saying that if you haven’t seen the original you’d probably like it. Maybe.

  49. Lulu Says:

This does not look as good as the Australian one. I’m interested to see if it will have the same effect on Americans as it did in Australians.
