Daniel Radcliffe Does ‘Equus’ Again
Here are a couple of new promo pics for the upcoming Broadway production of the London revival of Equus which starred/stars Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths. You may recall that Radcliffe and Griffiths appeared in the West End production of Equus last year and were met with much critical praise … starting next month, the duo bring the play to the Broadhurst Theatre here in NYC:

Richard Griffiths and Daniel Radcliffe, who starred in the London revival of Equus, are set to reprise their work in the upcoming Broadway production of Peter Shaffer’s award-winning play. Director Thea Sharrock again directs the production, which will arrive at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre Sept. 5. The show will open Sept. 25 for a strictly limited 22-week engagement through Feb. 8, 2009. In Equus, “psychiatrist Martin Dysart (Tony Award winner Richard Griffiths) investigates the blinding of six horses, a savage act committed by a mild-mannered stable boy, Alan Strange (Daniel Radcliffe), whose home life is filled with bigotry and religious fervor,” show notes explain. “As Dysart reveals the mysteries behind the boy’s demons, he realizes he is confronting his own.” Joining Griffiths and Radcliffe in the Broadway production will be stage and screen actress Kate Mulgrew.
Hopefully there will be a few more promo pics released for this newest production of the show, back when Equus opened in London we were treated to a whole slew of hawt pix of Danny boy in various states of undress. I am very much looking forward to seeing this show, finally, for myself. Not only am I … intrigued … by the notion of so much nekkidness in a major Broadway play like this but I am such a huge fan of Kate Mulgrew. She played Capt. Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager and I have loved her ever since. I have a couple of amazing seats for the September 15th show so I am very, very excited. Woot!

Ewwwww… Sorry, Trent, but that boarders on pedophilia. I really don’t want to see Harry Potters ‘magic wand’.

Ive seen the play in London, it was ok. They have no backgrounds or props just black boxes that can be chairs, tables, well really anything you want to be. I was like 3 seats away from the front and it was a very awkward moment when they got naked. lol

I too am a huge Kate Mulgrew fan and bought tickets for the October 12 show! I’ve seen her in the last bunch of plays she’s done in NYC (Tea at Five, Our Leading Lady, Iphigenia 2.0) and she’s amazing each time. You are going to have a blast! She’s always super-nice and obliging about autographs and pictures, too. <3 her!

The play will help you do this. I need to define both upward and the West End production. You’re good to go on the play.

Sorry, Trent, but that boarders on pedophilia How do you reckon that? Daniel Radcliffe is 19!
I saw the play in London and the nude scene was very tastefully done (lots of strategic lighting, LOL!) and it was also only one small part of the play. The play is not aimed at children, yes, the actor who plays Harry Potter is in it, but it isn’t Harry Potter. He’s an actor!

I wish people would stop tossing the term “pedophilia” around so randomly. Pedophilia is an attraction to PRE-PUBESCENT children. That means, like, under 12. Finding a 19 year-old or even a mature 16 year-old attractive is not only not remotely related to pedophilia, it’s exceedingly normal.

Most of my chums are saying things like “it borders on pedophilia” or “it’s Harry Potter” and what not. It doesn’t border on pedophilia, he is not a child. AND he is NOT Harry Potter. He is an actor, in yet another role. Oy vey.

yes, he does resemble Elijah Wood, and it’s NOT pedophilia–the correct term is “ephebephilia”. Twinks might not be to everybody’s taste (not mine, usually) but lithe lads are pleasant to contemplate.
