They pushed back Harry Potter and the HBP back because of the writers strike- they were worried they wouldn’t have enough movies to pull out between May-August, the most lucrative time of the year, due to the strike and with the Potter series doing so well, they decided to push it back. They didn’t even decide until this past week, and EW had already published their fall movie preview with Potter as the cover, as nobody at WB thought about telling them they were pulling the movie!! WB pissed off all kinds of fans! People are mutinous! I don’t think it had anything to do with the play, because this isn’t exactly the type of play you take your kids too, haha. Not much risk of the kids going to go see him naked!

ya i dont think it has nething to do with the play either since they talk about it openly in press confrences. WB a couple of weeks ago were saying that because of the writers strike they had to push it bac while we all kno it either 100% done or at least 95%. i think that since the last harry potter did so well in the summer release that they want another summer block buster which make no sense since the other ones also came out in nov. and the all did great. WB is jus making the fans pissed by doing this

WB has known about Equus for a year now and during the press conference in London for the last movie, most of the questions were about Dan and Equus. Equus isn’t anything new. If you read the news, you’d know that another movie company is sueing WB about their hoped for blockbuster called The Watchmen. Fox is trying to keep that movie from even being released, which would mean that WB’’s only big movie might be HP and that’s only because it’s being moved.

I’ll be at Equus on September 15th too! My best friend and I got stage seats for that night.

As for HP6…there are a lot of theories, but I think you could have a point about Equus. I mean, it makes sense.

I also think it’s kind of interesting that Twilight has now changed it’s original release date (12/12) to HP6’s old release date. It’s a good move since HP fans will now have to wait until next summer for the film and a lot of them are also fans of the Twilight saga.

There may be some truth to that but I honestly think it has more to do with ‘Equus’ than just ‘more money’. The whole thing was pretty much ready to go, EW magazine even put it on the cover of their Fall movie preview one day before the date change was announced. I honestly believe they didn’t want to compete with Daniel’s risque play — which ends in Feb, many months before the movie’s new start date.

WB didn’t move Harry POtter and the Half Blood Prince to July because of Equus, but because they wanted to make more money and they thought it would be a huge blockbuster in the summer. It would be a huge blockbuster anyway, so they’re just stupid!! And they’re being incredibly cruel to the fans … the movie is 100% finished but they’re just keeping the joy from us!!!
