Oh and ‘HB’ – it’s not a ‘turkey baster’, it’s called a medical syringe … turkey basters are for turkey. Children of gay people are usually conceived in the same romantic / sexy way that others conceive their babies. The only difference being that there is not a penis in the room. Why do people always think that Lesbian’s conceive by shooting up with a ‘turkey baster’ in a cold bathroom? It’s insulting!

Why would Clay come out of the closet? – when even gay commentators like Trent and Perez imply that he is creepy and make fun of him? Trent called this news ‘disturbing’. When you can’t even get support from your own community, when you have fathered a child, then I’m not surprised he wont talk about it!

Clay, don’t insult our intelligence. Straight guys have sex with women and get them pregnant. Sometimes, if they are unable to conceive naturally with their partner, they see a doctor and use in-vitro fertilization. The development of reproductive medicine is one of the miracles of modern science. What they don’t do is have turkey-baster babies with 50-year old broads they met at work.

So here’s my point: you are obviously gay. Why keep denying it? It’s undignified. I guess you’re afraid that you will alienate your large fan base in the Christian Consevative community. But I think you underestimate them. We’ve come a long way as a country. We’re more tolerant and open-minded than we were even 10 years ago. If you came out tomorrow and told everyone you were gay I think A) no one would be surprised in the least and B) most people would be cool with it. And when you have your next turkey-baster baby with a woman 20 years your senior, people will know that you’re a gay man following a perfectly reasonable course of action. So come out out of that closet. Because until you do – dude, you are really creeping everyone out.

I don’t and never will understand Clay Aiken’s appeal, especially to middle aged women who make up a majority of the Claymates. He is not even remotely attractive and his first single about being invisible and standing in some chicks room was downright creeples. I also had an ew-then shudder reaction initially, but after reading these posts I have to say I am disappointed by the all around reaction, especially by Trent.

In the heterosexual world no one shudders when a woman says “screw it”, goes to a sperm bank and gets pregnant that way. And I don’t think the way Clay choose to have a child should be questioned either. Now WHY he decided to have a baby is a different can of worms and something we won’t know until he decides to tell us.
I just think this child is in a better position than MANY children these days born to heterosexual married couples. Look at that douche Balthazar and his wife. He just had a baby 9 months ago and that kid is already in for a world of crap, But Clay’s baby won’t have to deal with any of that drama, because in a situation like that I’m sure Clay and his….um egg donor discussed every situation that might occur.
We all just need to open our minds a bit. We aren’t as open-minded as we think we are and this proves it. The man isn’t Micheal Jackson. He’s just a really nerdy guy who got famous.
Cut him some slack.

Good for them – Sorry Trent, but you should know better! Whether you like him or not, I believe you and people like Perez have a responsibility to the gay community (FIRST)to ‘set the tone’ of how these stories are talked about. You have such an influence to sway peoples opinion one way or the other – whether you guys will admit that or not. I left Perez’ site because he seriously seems to have a problem with gay celebrities and it is obvious he suffers from that horrible affliction that alot of gay people suffer from which is (self loathing). When a gay man (who has probably been teased all his life about being ‘femme’, constantly calls Sam Ronson (Sa ‘MAN’ tha) that is a clue that he hates himself. Support the Gays first – Trent!

I don’t see why raising a child in a best-friend/platonic relationship with someone you love and care about is such a bad thing. I mean, people get married to people that are their best friend, whom they love and care about, so what’s the difference here? Oh riiight, no sex. But seriously, a loving relationship between two people does not need nor require them to have sex with one another to make their relationship strong and long lasting.

IMO there’s absolutely nothing wrong with these two people deciding to have a baby (regardless of means of conception) and choosing to do it as friends. I can think of much worse scenarios. I agree with “yeah”, the man has done wonderful things for children around the world, regardless of his waxiness, or flesh coloured lips…both moot points in the grand scheme of things.

I guess I’m in the minority here when I say congratulations to the happy parents…may they always remember why the decided to have a child and raise that child with love!

i find it interesting that a MAN can have a child at 50, be nearing 70 at high school time, and it’s all good. Typical.

As to Clay and his right to a child and creepiness. As far as I have ever seen/read, he’s got training with children, runs a foundation for inclusion for kids with special needs, is a Unicef Ambassador that has toured some pretty fucked up areas for the children in the world, pretty damned ballsy, imo, and has never has been even remotely in the same ballpark as what Michael Jackson was/is accused of being. Interesting that someone that some perceive as gay would be automatically thrown into the MJ arena. Kinda non-progressive, eh?

He seems like he’d be a decent father and the child was brought into the world by people who WANTED him; bodes well for love and support.

Not seeing the eewww factor, but to each his own. I doubt that it will affect Aiken’s life in the least.

Trent, I used to visit frequently at the other blog. This one’s a bit to get used to, but I’m giving a go!

i’ve never been a fan of clay aiken, and never understood his “claymates” but i was happy to leave him well enough alone until this. this is just creepy. WTF? He’s 29, is he really in such a rush to become a father NOW that he has to artificially inseminate a 50-something woman with whom he has an obviously non-romantic relationship???? And the whole platonic-friends-raising-children thing just seems like a bad idea to me… what kind of family is that to raise a child in?? it’s all so very f***ed up! think about it… when this kid is graduating form highschool, his mother with be nearing, if not already, 70. again, WTF??!?
