Disturbing news out of North Carolina today … the day that pretty much everyone on Earth never thought would come — has come. Clay Aiken has become a father:

Clay Aiken became a father Friday morning with the birth of a baby boy, his mother told WRAL’s Lynda Loveland in an exclusive interview. Aiken’s best friend, producer Jaymes Foster, gave birth at 8:08 a.m. at an undisclosed location in North Carolina. Parker Foster Aiken weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. Aiken’s mother, Faye, said the baby has dark hair and that her son is smiling from ear-to-ear. Mom, dad and baby all are doing fine. Aiken and Foster will raise the child together. They met when Aiken appeared on American Idol. Foster has produced several of his albums.
Um … not only is this disturbing news in absolutely every way possible but doesn’t this whole scenario sound exactly like the plotline on Will & Grace where they planned to have a baby and raise it together? Er, except that was fiction and this actually came to fruition … and now the apocalypse will prolly be upon us in no time. I suppose congrats are in order for the new parents … um, yeah, I’m sure that someone out there will be happy to give those congrats. I’ll be over here trying to keep the image of a Clay baby out of my brain.

Hi,
I have always been absolutely obsessed with your blog and some day dream of having a blog as awesome as yours. I’ve just started my own blog, it’s called Sprinkles and Sugar (sprinklesandsugar/blogspot.com) and it sure needs improvement, because I’m just a beginner. I was wondering if you could check it out quick, it will only take about 5min of your time, and give me some tips on blogging. Much appreciated <3.
Thanks love
I suppose congrats are in order as well… I am a fan of Clay (but definitely not to Claymate status, thankyouverymuch) and am happy that he now has a child – but I still crack up at how the media has made a point to stress that the conception was by artificial insemination. Way to defend your alleged heterosexuality, Clay.
Weird, you mean to tell me the kid was actually born at 8:08 on 08/08/08??? They’re not 6′s but that can’t be a sign of something good ;)
I just threw up a lillte in my mouth as I read this. I’m sure it’ll come out that she invitro or something. He can’t possibly reproduce. :/
Princess Beatrice of York was born on Aug. 8, 1988 at like 8:18 or something and so far she’s okay. As for CA and his new family . . . well, things could be worse. As long as the child is raised with love.
Holy crap! Well, you know, more power to him…granted, this doesn’t do him any favors in defending his being straight, but whatever.
BTW, Trent, your source Kelly…Clarkson? HA!
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww congrats i guess but still ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Trent. I love your blog and read it everyday. I am always interested in your opinions on things, But, as a advocate of Gay rights (whether Clay is gay or not) doesn’t it seem a little biased and counterproductive that you would make such prejudice comments about his ability as a father no matter what type it is. I beleive in Gay rights. I believe two men should be able to raise a happy and successful child together. I believe two women can raise a child together. Whether or not Clay Aiken is eccentric and a little on the flamboyant side- really what does it have to do with his parenting ability?
Granted, I do not know your particular viewpoints on Gay Rights but how do we move forward when an obviousely successful gay man such as yourself doesn’t believe in the principal of equality for ALL and maybe not just for someone like Clay doing things “differently”
I think all that matters is that Clay is raising his child with love and respect and education.
Let me know if you think differently…

BEWARE.
My comments on Clay Aiken have absolutely nothing to do with sexuality — at all. I don’t know or care what his sexual proclivities are. The thought of Clay Aiken fathering a child is odd to me, irregardless of who he has sex with. The mere thought is just … ick.
I’m pretty sure all Trent was saying is that it’s probably not the best idea for ‘friends’ to raise a child together. It can get pretty complicated, irregardless of their sexual preference. I guess since the boy is genetically both of theirs, then they both have a legal standing should things go south, but it could still get complicated if other partners come into the picture and what not.
Plus, it is Clay Aiken.. it just seems odd.. the idea of him as a father. I guess weirder things have happened (hello- Keven Federline as Father of the Year? Oy.) but it’s still.. odd.
Weiiiiird. Isn’t Jaymes Foster in her 50′s??
E! News reportsd that it was done by artificial insemination. I have to agree with Trent, that no matter Clay’s sexual orientation the thought of him as a Dad is a lil creepy to me. In numerology, 8 is the number of building, and in some theories, also the number of destruction…I don’t know if that will have any affect on anything since he was born on 08.08.08 at 8:08, out we will see.
Congrats to Clay and Jaymes!
GAG!!! There are two people I would not want as my dad…Micheal Jackson and Clay Aiken! Sorry people…just saying!!!
Aaawwww…. I feel bad for Clay. If he is gay, coming out is probably so scary for him given his southern background and celebrity status.
Either way, I’m glad he found some love in a new baby… and I wish him the strength to be true to real self… whatever that might be.
LOL! I just reread my post… jeez, could I BE a bigger hag? *smile*
LOL OMG this poor baby! I don’t know what’s worse….a 50 yr old Mom (i’m just sayin…) or Clay Aiken as a Dad??? I read that it def was invitro or artificial insem.
P.S. I’m not weirded out by this b/c I think Clay’s gay or anything – it so doesn’t matter if Clay’s gay or not, he’s just kinda clownlike and creepy!
Poor kid didn’t even have a chance.
no ones hating on him cuz hes gay. hating on him cuz hes a weirdo is perfectly socially acceptable.
C’mon.. this baby is drawing from a musically gifted gene pool. Im jealous.
