OMG … OK … I just received an email from an anonymous Pink reader who informs me that they have the inside scoop on a MAJOR SPOILER for the upcoming debut season of 90210 on The CW:

Please be warned, this is a pretty big spoiler so if you don’t want to know anything about the upcoming season of 90210 before it starts airing on The CW on 09.02 then click no further. But, if you are dying to know a rumored storyline for a very cool-sounding ep of the series, including the role that Shannen Doherty (as Brenda Walsh) will be playing on the show then read on. Okay, so according to my source, who says that two of their friends have been cast on the show to begin filming scenes this week, an ep of the series will be a type of musical episode that focuses on the kids at West Beverly High performing a high school production of Broadway’s Spring Awakening — and Brenda Walsh (Shannen Doherty) is brought in as director of the school production to help the kids along:

First of all, OMG!!!!! Secondly, this is, of course, unconfirmed information but it’s deffo worth mentioning for those of you who might be interested (like me) in case this turns out to be true (and I hope to the Gods above that it does turn out to be true). My source informs me that the girls they were looking to cast for this ep had to have a “certain look” and they had to sing 32 bars of the song Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awakening. There is at least one scene shot in the backstage dressing room of “West Beverly High” and they feature the songs Mamma Who Bore Me and The Bitch Of Living. My source informs that they cut the song Totally Fucked (for obvs reasons) but they may leave the Blah Blah Blah portion of the song in the ep because the choreographer working on this scene “really likes” the song (for those of you unfamiliar with the show Spring Awakening, you can read about it HERE and you can preview portions of the songs HERE). The cast will rehearse these scenes this week and will film the week after. This is pretty cool news, I think. Again, I can’t be 100% sure that this is all totally accurate but it makes sense … we know that Brenda Walsh will appear on the show in her capacity as a stage actress (you may recall that Shannen‘s character Brenda was a theater major during the college years of Beverly Hills, 90210 and ended up leaving the storyline of the show [when Shannon got fired from the series] to go to London to be a stage actress), so this totally fits with this high school musical scenario. I tend to believe that this musical episode will come to be. I for one am very excited!!!

UPDATE: I guess this isn’t a big secret after all, Broadway.tv has already reported on this particular episode HERE. In any event, this is amazing news, especially now that it’s more or less confirmed to be happening!
