This past Friday we saw pics of Shia LaBeouf along with his hawt stunt double on the SoCal set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and I noted then that Shia, IMHO, didn’t hold a candle to his hotter (and older) stunt double … but today we have new pics of Shia only wearing half of his clothes, with only make-up to cover his nekkid upper body flesh:

I suppose it turns out that Shia can hold his own, I guess. That make-up looks pretty nasty, I suspect his Transformers character Sam Witwicky is gonna be hurtin’ something awful in the upcoming sequel. After the jump, check out a couple more photos of Shia showing off his “battle scars” on set …

Yesterday afternoon I got to meet up with my friend Adriana for dinner at Prizzi’s Piazza for a sumptuous Italian meal before we made our way to the Meta Theatre on Melrose Ave. to see a play titled Suffer the Long Night here in LA last night. Our friend and actor Eric Porzadek, who is newly relocated to LA from Detroit, is one of the show’s players (a show, I might add, which was written by the writers of Meet the Parents) and we were thrilled to be able to see him up on the stage:

The show was riotously funny and Erik did an amazing job, as did the rest of the cast. I might’ve bristled with a bit of pride to see my hometown homie following his dreams on that theater stage. Adriana and I had an amazingly fun time.

After the show, my plans to hang out with Darion fell thru so I got my buns home to start packing for my trip to Detroit. I fly out back to the Motor City in a couple of hours … which is where I’ll be comin’ atcha from for the next week. I’ve got a bizzy schedule when I get back home but I’m anxious to see all my Detroit homies again :)

Things aren’t so great for Shawntae Harris, better known to the world as Da Brat. You may recall that Brat was arrested late last year for allegedly assaulting a waitress in a nightclub by bashing her head in with a bottle. Brat has since plead guilty for this crime and was, this Friday, sentenced to serve 3 years in prison (she will also serve seven years on probation and will have to fulfill 200 hours of community service):

Da Brat was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for hitting a hostess in the head with a rum bottle during an altercation at a suburban Atlanta nightclub last fall. The 34-year-old rapper, whose given name is Shawntae Harris, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in DeKalb County. Superior Court Judge Gail Flake sentenced her to three years behind bars and seven on probation, plus 200 hours of community service and completion of substance abuse treatment, mental evaluation and anger management classes. Harris was at a private Halloween party at Studio 72, a club in Tucker, when she struck then-Atlanta Falcons cheerleader Shayla Stevens, who was working part-time as a hostess. A police report indicated Harris and Stevens got into a squabble after they bumped into each other. Stevens walked away and moments later was hit in the face with the bottle. She sustained a deep cut to the cheek and some swelling on the forehead, and has a permanent scar on her face as a result, officials said.

Yeah, Da Brat is headed for Da Big House … and rightfully so, I think. I am just shocked that someone would have the gall to assault someone by bashing them in the face with a bottle — for just bumping into them! It’s disgusting behavior and it should be punished. I’m not sure that Brat realized that she’d be serving a 3 year sentence for pleading guilty to this crime (tho, she’ll prolly get out a lot sooner than that if I know my justice system) but I think she kinda deserves every minute she serves.

Beverly Hills, 90210 alums Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth joined the new crop of 90210 kids at a premiere event in Malibu, CA for the new CW spin-off which is set to debut on 09.02. It’s almost time y’all … we’re just days away from finding out if the new 90210 can live up to the hype and expectation of the stunning success of its predecessor … but for now, it’s just time to party. Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet event last night:

Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth joined the cast of CW’s 90210 spin-off Saturday at a beachside bash to celebrate the show. The party took place on the Malibu shore – about 20 miles away from the Beverly Hills zip code, the AP reports. Doherty and Garth, who will reprise their roles as Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor in the new show, arrived separately. Joe E. Tata, who played Peach Pit owner Nat, also attended. Party guests expecting to get a glimpse of the show’s first episode were out of luck: The premiere was not screened. (The CW recently announced pre-broadcast copies of the series would not be distributed to TV reviewers and reporters as a “strategic marketing decision.”) Meanwhile, Garth recently said reuniting with Doherty (with whom she once got into a fistfight) wasn’t “as bad as I thought it would be. We’re both grown women, both professionals,” she told TV Guide. “Once we were working, it felt like a good fit.”

Tori Spelling, who continues to get the shaft from the new 90210 was, obvs, not in attendance at last night’s affair. Again, I’m excited at the prospect of the new show but I fear that expectations may be too high. I understand why the show’s producers are keeping the first ep under wraps until the series premieres next week but … I dunno, can it really live up to the hype? There are a lot of fond memories about the original show … I dunno if anything can really measure up.

The amazing 2008 Summer Olympic Games have already come to a close in Beijing, China today where it is well past the finish of the Closing Ceremonies. All of the medals have been handed out, a few World and Olympic Records have been broken and reset and Beijing bid farewell to the World … our thanks for their amazing job hosting these Olympic Games. Here are a few pics from a portion of today’s Closing Ceremonies (which will be broadcast tonight here in the US on NBC):

BEIJING handed the Olympic flag to London today in a spectacular closing ceremony. Rock legend Jimmy Page and singer Leona Lewis starred in the eight-minute slot for London, while footballer David Beckham was also involved. London mayor Boris Johnson received the Olympic flag in the handover ceremony, which featured a red London double decker bus driving around the Bird’s Nest stadium being pursued by Team GB cyclists Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and Shanaze Reade. Jacques Rogge, the International Olympic Committee president, told the 91,000 people inside the Bird’s Nest stadium: “Tonight, we come to the end of 16 glorious days which we will cherish forever. Thank you to the people of China.” PM Gordon Brown, who spoke yesterday of his hope that a UK football team could compete in the next Olympics, also attended the closing event. Beckham, who kicked a football into the crowd during the ceremony said he believed the London Olympics in 2012 would be even better than the spectacular events this year. The England footballer said Team GB’s astonishing medal haul will spark a wave of interest in taking part in sport. Beckham said: “I’m an East End boy and I’m proud that it’s happening in London. I was very proud to be involved in the first place bringing it back to England and to London. It’s going to generate so much interest in sport and kids are already getting excited about it. We have seen what the Chinese have done here and I’m sure we will better that, without a doubt.” Team GB won three more medals yesterday with boxer James DeGale leading the way by winning the men’s middleweight title. The 22-year-old Londoner came out on top in a hard-fought contest with Cuban Emilio Correa at the Workers’ Stadium. The boxer’s gold medal followed other success for British athletes on the penultimate day … Team GB has had its most successful Olympics for a century. Britain currently lies in fourth place in the medal table behind China, USA and Russia, after notching up 19 gold medals, 13 silver and 15 bronze to make a total of 47 medals. The Queen today congratulated British and Commonwealth athletes for their success at the Beijing Olympics and said she was looking forward to the London Games in 2012.
