Drama comes at a high price ... but not equally
Who Is Making The Most Money On ‘The Hills’

The site Popcrunch has published some interesting information about the current cast of MTV‘s hit reality drama The Hills. They claim to know the salaries paid out to the season four castmembers (information gleaned from In Touch Weekly, I might add) and I think you’ll find these numbers very interesting … you’re never gonna guess how much it costs for us to get our weekly fill of Hills drama, y’all:

How much does MTV pay the stars of its smash unscripted series The Hills? Lauren Conrad earns $75,000 per episode-and that’s a fact that has left some of her series co-stars seething, a new In Touch Weekly scoop claims. “The only reason LC gets paid more than anyone else is because she demanded in her original contract that no one could ever get paid more than her.” “The salaries are based on who people care about watching more,” says a mole. “If you bring drama, you’ll get more money.” Fashion forward LC is expected to earn $1.4 million for the complete fourth season of The Hills. Let’s see how much her castmates earn.

Heidi Montag: $65,000 per episode ($1.25 million per year)
Spencer Pratt: $65,000 per episode ($1.25 million per year)
Audrina: $35,000 per episode ($665,000 annually)
Whitney: $20,000 per episode ($380,000 per season)
Brody: $10,000 per episode ($190,000 a year)
Lauren “Lo”: $10,000 per episode ($190,00 for The Hills Season 4)
Stephanie: $8,000 per episode ($152,00 for Season 4)
Frankie: $0

HMMM … the numbers make sense, as does the idea that castmembers that bring the drama get paid better, after all — it’s all about the ratings, baby. While I don’t necessarily believe that these numbers are totally correct (these sorts of leaks are never exactly right), I do believe that the numbers are proportionally correct. That said … poor Frankie. Why does the Latinoid have to be the one to get screwed? What do y’all think, are these folks worth this money?

‘Sticky & Sweet’ World Tour Officially Underway

It is well past showtime at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, UK where Madonna‘s Sticky & Sweet World Tour got underway a few hours ago … here are a few pics from Madonna‘s first couple of numbers at tonight’s tour premiere show:

It looks like she decided to hang on to the M throne that she debuted at the Roseland Ballroom (during a short promo concert she gave to celebrate the release of her new album Hard Candy) earlier this year. She looks great … I am very excited to see more, hopefully live — with my own eyes — very soon :)

The Seether’s Louise

OMG … last night was the funnest night ever. I spent most of the day preparing for my upcoming trip to Detroit but I met up with my friend Michael for dinner before heading off to see Veruca Salt at The Viper Room in Hollywood. Michael and I planned on going out to dinner but because he lives within walking distance of The Viper Room he invited me over for a BBQ dinner that he cooked :) We had a very nice chat and were able to catch up about various developments going on in each other’s lives. Michael is a fan of Veruca Salt so he was happy to head over to see the show with me … we met up with my dear friend Irene and planted ourselves front and center at the venue. Before the Salts took to the stage, I was able to meet (finally) in person Kay Hanley (who used to front Letters to Cleo and now makes her own solo records which she sells online on her official website). She and I had exchanged a few emails before, so it was really amazing getting to meet her finally :) It was just a great night all around. Here are a few pics of Veruca Salt live in concert last night:

After the jump, check out the full setlist, a few amazing videos from last night’s show and some exciting news from Louise Post herself …

Pete Wentz Takes Up Tennis

While Snoop Dogg was bizzy playing baseball with the LA Dodgers this week, Pete Wentz was doing a bit of sporty stuff of his own. Here are pics of Pete Wentz working on his tennis game during a tennis lesson here in SoCal earlier this week:

HMMM … could it be that the emo kid is now more interested in becoming a jock? I get that Pete takes all new endeavors very seriously but, c’mon, is the he sweatband really all that necessary? I mean, really. But anyways, as far as sports go, I guess tennis is about the best one that Pete could’ve picked … he looks like the kinda guy who might not do well with contact sports like football or rugby. Good for him for taking up a new hobby like this, mebbe we’ll be seeing him at the US Open next year … it’s possible, right?

LA Dodgers in da hizzie
Snoop Is A Dodger Dogg

Snoop Doggie Dogg was on hand at Dodgers Stadium this past Thursday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies baseball game. Here are a few pics of Snoop on the field doing a bit of warming up before throwing out the first pitch:

The last pic shows Snoop posing with Dodger first baseman James Loney, who caught Snoop‘s first pitch Thursday night. Methinks that Snoop may have provided a bit of extra luck as well, the Dodgers went on to defeat the Rockies by a score of 3 to 1. Snoop Dogg is a longtime LA sports fan so it’s always great seeing him all dolled up in the colors of various LA sports teams. As far as Dodger Doggs go, Snoop is the shizzle.

Gives tiny update on Gwen Stefani's post-baby condition
Gavin Rossdale Shows Off New Plastic Bling

New daddy Gavin Rossdale was snapped making his way out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last night just one day after his wife Gwen Stefani gave birth to their second child, another boy, named Zuma Nesta Rock. Gavin was proudly showing off his plastic hospital bracelet as he made his way to his car last night:

Aww … you know, sometimes the most precious things in life aren’t made of gold or silver … I really like Gavin‘s plastic bracelet. As Gav was making his way to his car, he revealed to the assembled photogs that “Mom is doing well”. I suspect that we should be hearing something more substantial from the couple about both mother and child very soon … but for now, let them rest. Congrats to the happy family again!!!

Madonna Kicks Off Her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ World Tour

Madonna, the uncontested Queen of Pop, kicks off her new Sticky & Sweet World Tour in Cardiff, Great Britain tonight at the Millennium Stadium and the world waits with bated breath to hear (or, if you’re lucky enough to be attending this first show, see) what Maddy has got up her sleeve for this latest tour. But, ahead of tonight’s first show we have a couple of preview pics of Madonna on stage from her full dress rehearsal performance which took place last night. Here are pics of Madge in her “old school” tour costume last night:

There are quite a few more pictures out there from the final dress rehearsal performance last night but in an effort to keep as many secrets about the tour unspoiled until the tour actually starts, I’ll not be posting them. That said, I do plan to post a few pics of the opening night show in Cardiff (which takes place tonight) tomorrow in a post about the show.

Madonna.com has announced the opening of the official tour store where souvenirs from the Sticky & Sweet World Tour can be purchased online, including t-shirts, posters and the tourbook:

After the jump, check out a few pictures from the tourbook, some stats about the show that have been released by Madonna‘s people and a short video of Madonna talking to her fans from backstage at last night’s dress rehearsal …

That's the ticket!
Barack Obama Chooses Joe Biden As His Running Mate

With just days to go before the Democratic National Party convenes in Denver, CO for the 2008 Democratic National Convention (where the party will formally select its candidate for President of the United States of America) the presumptive nominee, Senator Barack Obama, has announced that he has chosen Senator Joseph Biden to be his Vice Presidential nominee. For weeks now, there has been speculation that Biden (known and respected for his foreign relations expertise) might be Obama‘s choice and late yesterday we learned that that speculation was correct. For the Dems, it’s gonna be Obama/Biden in the 2008 Presidential election come November:

Senator Barack Obama introduced Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. as his running mate on Saturday, a choice that strengthens the Democratic ticket’s credentials on foreign policy heading into the general election against Senator John McCain. In Mr. Biden, Mr. Obama selected a six-term senator best known for his expertise on foreign affairs — Mr. Biden spent last weekend in Georgia as that nation engaged in a tense confrontation with Russia — and his skills at political combat. Mr. Obama passed over other candidates, including Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana and Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia, who might have brought him a state or reinforced the message of change that has been central to his candidacy. He also bypassed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, his main challenger in the primaries. It was perhaps the most critical decision Mr. Obama has made as his party’s presumptive nominee … Mr. Biden is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is familiar with foreign leaders and diplomats around the world. Although he initially voted to authorize the war in Iraq — Mr. Obama opposed it from the start — Mr. Biden became a persistent critic of President Bush’s policies in Iraq. Mr. Obama’s acquaintance with Mr. Biden is in no small part a result of the fact that the two serve together on that committee, aides said. Mr. Biden, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination himself this year before pulling out after performing poorly in the first contest, in Iowa, has shown himself to be a tough political brawler, a characteristic that many Democrats say Mr. Obama has not displayed against Mr. McCain. That is something that presidential candidates typically look for in a running mate. Mr. Biden seems likely to fill in other gaps in Mr. Obama’s political appeal that became increasingly clear during the primary season and going into the fall. He is a Roman Catholic, a group with which Mr. Obama had trouble during the Democratic primaries; he has a blue-collar background, potentially giving him appeal among working-class voters, another bloc in which Mr. Obama ran poorly in the primaries; and he was born in Pennsylvania, a battleground state that could be vital to both parties. Mr. Obama announced his choice in text and e-mail messages that began streaming out of his Chicago headquarters at 3 a.m., hours after news of his decision began leaking out. “Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee,” read the text message. “Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on www.BarackObama.com. Spread the word!” His e-mail announcement began: “Friend — I have some important news that I want to make official. I’ve chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.”

With this choice, Obama chooses a running mate who is well seasoned and who brings to the ticket sort of knowledge and expertise that will help Barack Obama lead our country forward in a new direction away from the failures of the current administration. This is a very exciting time for the Democrats, the campaign is getting more solidified and very soon, things can be full steam ahead into November. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming Democratic National Convention … and I’m very much looking forward to watching the Obama/Biden ticket bring much needed change to the good o’l U S of A.
