Nicole Richie Takes The ‘Piggies’ Out For A Stroll

OMG … here are a couple of the cutest pics ever … proud mama Nicole Richie took her darling little baby girl Harlow Winter out for a morning stroll in their neighborhood this past Sunday and the ever-mindful mom kept her little angel covered from head to almost toe from the sun’s harmful rays — but one of Harlow‘s little feet poked out to say hello:

Hahahahaha … isn’t this the most precious thing ever? While I vastly prefer seeing all of Harlow‘s cuteness there is something extra darling about her little toesies. Cute!!!

After arrest, the Panettieres show their unity
No Problems For The Panettieres

HMM … I guess all is forgiven between the Panettiere parents as these new photos of the couple apparently show them happily walking their dogs together as if nothing was amiss in their marriage. On Sunday night, Alan Panettiere was arrested for domestic battery after his wife Lesley Vogel alleged that he struck her after the couple attended a charity benefit for the Whaleman Foundation which was hosted by their daughter Hayden Panettiere … after Alan was released on bail Monday morning, the couple were snapped enjoying a lovely afternoon stroll with their dogs together Monday afternoon:

Hayden Panettiere’s father, Alan, was released from custody on $50,000 bail Monday afternoon after being arrested for allegedly striking the actress’s mother. Panettiere, 49, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. at the family’s West Hollywood home and spent about 10 hours in Los Angeles County sheriff’s custody. He was booked on a charge of felony domestic violence following a fight with wife Lesley Vogel, 52, deputies said … A sheriff’s spokesman says that Alan struck Lesley one or two times on the cheek causing bruising. Another sheriff’s official says that alcohol was involved in the incident. An observer at the party tells PEOPLE: “When they were both about to leave, they had a heated argument outside the restaurant. They were doing a good amount of yelling.”

Extra TV have a statement from the couple which quotes them as saying the incident was a “big misunderstanding”:

Hayden Panettiere parents, Skip and Lesley, talk first to “Extra’s” Mario Lopez about Skip’s arrest on suspicion of felony spousal abuse on Monday, August 11th. The police report indicates Skip struck Lesley three times, but the Panettieres tell Lopez, “It was all a big misunderstanding” and they now claim “nothing actually happened.” They go on to say, “Lesley wasn’t even aware that Skip had been arrested.” Lopez reports that Hayden found out about her dad’s arrest when he called her from jail. The Panettieres tell “Extra” that “They love each other very much and want everyone to know that the matter was completely blown out of proportion.” Skip was released from jail on $50,000 bail.

You know, family matters of this nature can be extremely complicated and because we will never know exactly what happened it can be a moot point to even debate the issue (I mean, we can debate away but it would be conjecture upon conjecture … basically the police say one thing, the couple now says another). I will say, tho, that physical violence against anyone SHOULD NEVER BE TOLERATED. I suppose we are to assume that things got out of hand and all is forgiven, altho I would have a bit of a hard time sweeping a matter like this under the rug if I were somehow involved. In Hollywood, tho, high profile folks (like the parents of one of Young Hollywood’s hottest stars) tend to sweep a lot of things under the rug in order to keep up appearances. For the sake of everyone involved (especially Hayden‘s mom), I hope that everything has been resolved to everyone’s true satisfaction and it’s not just for show … tho, again, I cannot understand fully how someone can condone an act of physical violence like this at all. In the end, if the victim chooses not to press charges, there ain’t much that can be done. Ugh … it’s just an ugly matter altogether.

Remains calm & cute next to freaky Russell Brand

MTV has released 2 promo videos for the upcoming 2008 MTV Video Music Awards starring VMAs host Russell Brand and our dear Britney Spears (lookin’ quite faboo, I must say). Earlier, we saw the first promo photo of Britney with Russell and a 900 lb. elephant (in the room) and now we can take a gander at the videos that were shot at the same time. First up, here is the promo video titled Name:

After the jump, check out the second promo video featuring Britney and the kinda scary Russell Brand

Is tied for the most Gold Medals won by a single athlete; goes for #10 today
Michael Phelps Wins His 9th Gold Medal

Welp, he did it again … Michael Phelps won his 3rd Gold Medal of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China in the Men’s 200-meter freestyle event last night (today?) … and his 9th career Gold Medal overall — and he, yet again, won his event in record time. He is now tied with Olympic greats Larisa Latynina, Carl Lewis, Paavo Nurmi and Mark Spitz as the athletes with the most Gold Medals. Later on today (tomorrow?), Phelps will compete for his 10th overall career Gold Medal … and something tells me, he’s gonna get it:

He cuts through the water like he’s shredding through the record books at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps won his third gold medal and record-tying ninth of his career on Tuesday morning, breaking his own world record in the 200-meter freestyle. The American won in a time of 1 minute, 42.96 seconds, lowering his old mark of 1:43.86 set at last year’s world championships in Australia. It was expected he would face a strong challenge for the gold from the other finalists, but he led from the start, cruising to the wall nearly 2 seconds ahead of silver medallist Park Tae-hwan of South Korea, who finished in 1:44.85. American Peter Vanderkaay earned the bronze in 1:45.14. Phelps already has nine career gold medals, tying him with four others, including swimmer Mark Spitz and track star Carl Lewis, for the most in Olympics history. He’s got five more chances for gold in Beijing — the next one comes Wednesday. And he’s just 23 … Phelps finds himself on the verge of diving into history. He has the opportunity to break the Olympics’ most hallowed record and eclipse Marc Spitz’s seven gold medals in the 1972 games. Even if he gets gold in just half of the eight events he has entered, Phelps will hold the record for the most gold medals in Olympic history and could arguably be called the greatest Olympian ever. “There are a lot of things that people haven’t done, and I want to change the sport and be the first person to do new things,” Phelps said.

Oh yeah, he is right on track to do just that. I am just amazed by his accomplishments. He shows no sign of stopping or even slowing down … in fact, he just keeps getting faster and faster. I have no doubt that he will walk away from these Olympic Games with the most Gold Medals won by a single athlete and he has a great chance to beat Mark Spitz‘s record of winning the most Gold Medals at a single Olympic Games. Phelps just looks so focused, relaxed and happy … and I think it’s that joy of competition that keeps fueling him that extra bit at each event that is allowing him to not only win but to win in record time (just like Spitz did in 1972, who won each of his 7 Gold Medals each in record time). Will Michael Phelps win 8 Gold Medals in record time in Beijing? I think it’s quite possible … it’ll be fun to watch and see. Go Phelpsie!
