The Jolie-Pitt Twins Officially Announced
Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, France, addressed the assembled press on the steps of the Fondation Lenval hospital this morning to officially announce the birth of Nice’s newest and most famous twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon Jolie-Pitt who were born in his city yesterday. Mayor Estrosi showed off the birth certificates (les acte de naissance) to the press with excitement and pride:
They’re here, officially: On Sunday, Mayor Christian Estrosi of Nice, France, presented one of the birth certificates of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins on the steps of Nice’s Fondation Lenval hospital, where son Knox Léon and daughter Vivienne Marcheline were born Saturday. The typed certificate revealed that Knox was born at 6:27 p.m. on July 12. Sister Vivienne came within a minute of that time, Dr. Michel Sussmann tells PEOPLE. The document also showed the Mayor’s signature, as well as Pitt’s initials, the letters WBP representing his full name, William Bradley Pitt. The mayor entered the hospital at 3:24 p.m. to oversee the signing, telling PEOPLE, “It’s a pride to Nice and all its citizens.” Knox is the 3,702 registered birth certificate in Nice for 2008. In welcoming the twins, Estrosi told reporters, “On behalf of the inhabitants of Nice, I congratulate the happy parents, the most famous couple of the world who have chosen our city for this happy event.”
Clearly, the Mayor of Nice is very excited to claim the Jolie-Pitt twins as his own. After the jump, check out a close up of Knox Léon’s birth certificate …
Of course, the document is en française but you can still make out some of the information even if you can’t read French. It’s a happy day in Nice, France today … congrats again to the happy family AND the happy city those chosen babies were born in ;)

And in response to katie; according to the birth certificate (assuming I can still read French, its been like 4 years since I last studied it). They were born on the 12th at 6:27 PM which would make it between 9:30 and 12:30 US time (still on the 12th), the time depending on what time zone you live in. I think that’s right at least.

On another note, Vivienne Marcheline sounds so pretty, but Knox? WTF?Sounds maybe like a country singer.

For gods sake – you would think a royal birth just happened. All this anticipation and false announcements! Am I the only one who thinks this is f*cked up? These kids do not stand a chance at a happy private life. I blame the PITS for not putting the brakes on this media frenzy and requesting that the press chill out and let their kids have some space! It’s just WRONG!

I think that the family can maintain themselves. The family is in the hospital and the press is with the mayor. Sure these kids aren’t going to have a normal life. Their parent are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! However they are way more protective than other parents. Ange has even said in an interview that she knows how to use a gun and is not afraid to use it if someone gets to close to her kids. She is the mother bear, she will protect her cubs.

I commend this beautiful for some of the most unique names they’ve picked for their childrens. I especially fancy the latest -Vivienne Marcheline – SO SO Tres Chic! A star is born.
Angelina seems to pic some hard core names for her boys such as Maddox, Knox, etc…

“She is the mother bear, she will protect her cubs.” Come on Anna -that makes me want to vom! She parades her children regularly in the media and has the deal to the baby pics done and dusted minutes out of the womb. So classy. What happened to the days of a simple statement from the father “Mother and babe(s) doing well”, and giving the family a little bit of time to settle and bond. They can’t complain about the feverishness as they created it!

I don’t really see this as Brad & Angelina “parading” the kids around … it’s the mayor and their doctor who seem to be doing most of the blabbing!
It’s not the couple’s fault that the paparazzi & press are so excited about this. Really, the fact that they DON’T regularly parade their family around is what makes them so enticing to the tabloids & celebrity sites … they’re perceived as hidden treasure.
Possible future boy names: Felix, Jax, Styx (heh…).

Oh please lisa make me GAG! Hidden treasures my ass. Their damn Rainbow Brite Bunch are paraded all over the world, we see tons of pics of them.
I am with Joanne, the media & loony Pitt fans act like these twins are the future king & queen of the world. Shut it already. I can’t wait to these child collecting freaks break up. Since they BOTH always screw their co-stars it’s only a matter of time, THANK GOD!!

The fact that they like to take their children out to do normal things makes their kids “paraded all over the world”? They are trying to raise their kids like everyone else and expose them to normal daily routines. So what because they are celebrities they should hideaway? They are celebrities….you’re interested enough to look and comment also aren’t you?? So you come on SeanJay…and why would you want to see a family breakup? You sound a little bitter and possibly jealous…grow up!

Oh, and I didn’t mean that these six kids ARE super-special sparkly hidden treasures … it’s just that if they DID show up in public more often, the paps probably wouldn’t treat each appearance like a gigantic champagne-spouting holiday. Sure, you see some pics, but not nearly as many as with other celeb kids, I think. Not that I’m scanning celeb mags every day.
And I don’t think anyone actually associated with the parents has said: “Behold, our perfect golden do-no-wrong cancer-curing twins!!” It’s the press, not them, who’ve made it such a big deal. That B & A have decided to raise some money for charity by selling their pix is probably their way of making peace with the whole stupid circus.

Congratulations to the family. I don’t see why the parents can’t set the rules about having the pictures of THEIR children released thru whatever outlet the parents choose. It’s not like they wouldn’t (aren’t) hunted down as it is, by paps & media. If some lameass gossip rag wants to pay them millions for their baby pic I say more power to the parents.. Honestly.. the only ones looking stupid are the buyers and makers of said gossip rag.. Really. However I do find the whole fascination with famous people’s giving birth and child rearing utterly boring. I love the name Vivenne – very nice, Knox ? I don’t know.. might grow on me. Kids names are always a hoot anyways. Some people like “unique” spelling but end up choosing a name that looks like a dyslexic person wrote it. Others follow certain family traditions. Whichever name they chose THEIR kids will have to live with.
