So Dork The ‘Con’ Of Man
And so … another San Diego Comic Con has come to pass … and as usual, I was out of the country and unable to attend — but there are a lot of fun pictures to check out that will kinda sorta make it feel like I’m part of the experience but, you know, without having to actually endure all the ridiculous costumery in person ;) Here are a few pics of some of the more zealous Comic Con attendees this year:

And here are a few pics of some of the principal stars of the NBC hit Heroes who attended the Con this year to promote the upcoming third season of the show:

Honestly, there are just too many things that were presented at this year’s Con that I can’t possibly post them all … but Entertainment Weekly was in the hiz taking photos of some of my fave sci-fi/comic booky things at this year’s convention to give a nice overview. After the jump, check out a few EW photos of some of my fave things that I would’ve checked out had I attended this year’s Comic Con …

Joss Whedon, Eliza Dushku & Tahmoh Penikett were there reppin’ the new FOX TV series Dollhouse, Michael C. Hall was reppin’ Dexter, Robert Rodriguez & Rose McGowan were reppin’ Red Sonja, Milo Ventimiglia was doing double duty promoting Heroes and his new comic book Rest and Guy Ritchie & Gerard Butler were representin’ their new movie RockNRolla. Oh yeah, it’s just far too much geekdom for one person to handle all at once … which is why I’m not a good candidate for the Comic Con (plus, I don’t look all that great in lycra). Obvs this post can’t do the entire weekend justice but I wanted to post a taste of some of the stuff that I found most interesting. I may end up attending one year … mebbe. Any Comic Can fans out there? Am I totally missing out?

By accident, I was at the hotel where Comic Con was being held…and saw some pretty interesting things! I knew who some of the folks were but my poor husband had no clue, he was just really scared of the folks in costumes. Got to walk past Stan Lee and Seth Green in the lobby of the hotel, and rode the elevator with Justin Hartley (the Green Arrow from Smallville) and his family who are all drop-dead gorgeous. It was a crazy site…lots of folks in costumes, and tons of people EVERYWHERE. Geeks truly do rule the world.

I prefer the smaller independent fests. Comic Con seems ruled by the companies and now it is a place to just promote anything. Still, it is a pretty big show of love for fans if you show up at a convention versus a TV interview or a red carpet event.

I’ve been to ComicCon every year for the past three years (after being dragged to the first one by my boyfriend) and I have to say it is one of the funnest things that comes around every year. I’ve never been into comic books but once you go you realize it’s about a lot more than just comic books. It’s a total blast to go and find out what’s going on in the world of TV and movies also, I got to go to a panel where they annouced the new Land of the Lost movie coming out with Will Ferrel. Not to mention the picture I got to take riding a fake unicorn and my new WWNPHD? bracelet. If you have the means and even the slightest desire to come, you absolutely, without a doubt should give it a chance, you won’t be dissapointed.

I’ve never been to the San Diego Comic Con. I had been to The Big Apple one in NYC a couple of years ago and had a blast! I went primarily to see one comic book artist (Roman Dirge, anyone?:), but had a great time checking out all sorts of other stuff! These pics are quite interesting, The Joker guy for some reason looks like Dan Akroyd (spelling?) to me LOL, plus I love the Super Mario and Princess Toadstool couple! Lastly, that green dress that Rose McGowan is rockin’ in that promo photo is hot! Kinda reminds me of the green outfit that Britney wore in her “Drive Me Crazy” video!;)
