Project Runway season 4 winner Christian Siriano (who, incidentally, just this week debuted his first clothing collection on Bluefly.com) has a few choice things to say about Project Runway season 5 contestant Blayne Walsh‘s overuse of the word “girlicious” … essentially, he hates it. Which, I must confess, is pretty funny considering that Christian couldn’t go 3 mins. on his season of the show without saying the world “fierce”:
Christian Siriano, the man who perfected the reality show catch phrase, weighs in on one of “Project Runway’s” most controversial contestants this season, Blayne, and his overuse of the word “Girlicious.” Needless to say, he’s not a fan. But it’s not all bad news – although he doesn’t have such kind things to say about last night’s winning dress either – as Christian gushes about his new BlueFly.com collection, his designs for 2008 Fashion Week and of course, the biggest fashion muse of all, Victoria Beckham.
In a video interview with the New York Post, Christian calls Blayne‘s new attempt at a catchphrase “retarded” and “stupid” claiming that “it doesn’t really work” says that “it’s very forced” and that “it bothers” him. Um, what? Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree … the liciousness is annoyingly lame … but for Christian Siriano — the guy who used the word “fierce” so much that even he had to agree that it became “expired” — to dog on Blayne is too funny. If anything, Blayne is just trying to emulate Christian by mimicking him … it’s funny that Christian now finally sees how annoying this behavior is ;) After the jump, watch the entire New York Post video interview with Christian Siriano …
Christian goes on, in his NYP interview, to say that he didn’t really like Suede‘s winning dress from this week’s ep, calling it “really not cute”. But really, is this any surprise? Christian pretty much hated everyone’s designs on his own season so I’m not surprised that he’s not a fan of the new crop of designers. But you know what, he does have the talent and the skill to back up his judgments. Ahh … it’s nice to know that Christian is still a little spitfire. I expect he’ll have much to say as this new season of PR carries on … especially with new clothing designs to promote.

girlicious is significantly more annoying than fierce, and blayne is not even close to being as adorable as christian.

Couldn’t agree with christian more it’s just sounds so forced and doesn’t work like 99.99% of the time he needs to stop it
christian is so cute. blayne is pathetic and grosses me out.
Blayne makes blood shoot out my eyeballs, even more than Christian did last season. Blayne’s biggest problem isn’t his fixation with “licious” or the whole tanorexic thing or the fact that he always snorts like he’s looking for nose candy…it’s that he doesn’t even come close to having the design point of view that Christian had from day one. I couldn’t stand Christian and I HATE his clothes, but I can’t argue with the fact that he always had a consistent, well-made “brand” of design that was all his.
Also- how much did everyone love Stella and the way she dealt with Blayne making fun of her? Diaper jokes and the youngest contestants are always awesome.

um, what i love about all these kerfuffle’s about “Christian’s catchphrase” is that he stole “fierce” from the black and latino queens and transsexuals who have been using that word since the 70s! Hello?

This whole situation is annoying. “Fierce” and “girlicious” are both stupid, and hearing them 1,000 times an episode only makes them grate even more. I love Project Runway, but some of the contestants seriously need to get over themselves.
