Open Invitation
Barack Obama and the Democratic National Convention Committee announced today that they are planning to break with tradition and are moving the final day (ie. the nomination day) of the Democratic National Convention from inside the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO (where the week-long convention is going to be held next month) to the wide open space at the Invesco Field football stadium (home of the Denver Broncos) in an effort to accommodate up to 75,000 supporters who wish to see Senator Obama officially accept the nomination of the Democratic Party. Basically, it’s gonna be a big-ass party, y’all:

A sea of 75,000 people swarmed around Senator Barack Obama at a rally in Portland, Ore. in May — the largest crowd of his campaign. And Mr. Obama is planning a repeat performance at the Democratic National Convention in August, when he will open his speech accepting the Democratic nomination to the public, holding it at a football stadium that can accommodate more than three times the number of people as the main convention site. The Democratic National Convention Committee and the Obama campaign announced on Monday that they would break with tradition and move the final day of convention activities, including the acceptance speech, from the Pepsi Center in Denver to Invesco Field, home of the Denver Broncos, which can hold more than 75,000. The Pepsi Center seats about 20,000. “The Democratic Party is nominating a true change candidate this August, and it is only fitting that we make some big changes in how we put on the Convention,” Howard Dean, the Democratic National Committee chairman, said in a statement. “By bringing the last night of the Convention out to the people, we will be able to showcase Barack Obama’s positive, people-centered vision for our country in a big way.” The D.N.C.C. said a portion of the tickets to the final night of the convention on Aug. 28 will be made available to Colorado residents. Details about how to sign up for one of the “community credentials” will be released in the coming weeks. Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, said that Mr. Obama “has made it a priority to open up the political process” and bring in new voters. “That was the thinking behind Senator Obama accepting the Democratic nomination at Denver’s Invesco Field,” he said. To be sure, there is some symbolic value in the switch as well. In 1960 John F. Kennedy chose to leave the convention hall to give his acceptance speech at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in front of tens of thousands of supporters. And, in another nod to history, the last night of this year’s Democratic convention coincides with the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech.”
Brills! I love it. It really feels like things are coming along nicely in the Obama campaign. All symbolism aside, the campaign has been doing an excellent job of hitting all the perfect points along the way — right from the very beginning. I think it says a lot about the candidate that he is making such a public show of including as many people in the process as possible. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it up until election day, Barack Obama is my candidate … he will bring indescribable yet positive change to the way our country is run. I really wish there was a way I could be in Denver, CO for this historic night. It sounds like it’s going to be an amazing experience … and the start of a new beginning for the United States of America :)

Trent, I love you, but sometimes I feel you can be a bit two-face when it comes to your personal opinions and what’s popular. I’ve noticed it before but this post has inspired me to actually say something about it. Weren’t you orginally supporting Hilary Clinton? Yes, I know you being a Democrat will now support Senator Obama yet, the way this post is worded shows no trace that he was not your first choice… “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it up until election day, Barack Obama is my candidate.” But this is not the only instance where this has occured. I remember, way back, reading about all your Speidi attatcks. This attacks have now loosened up once you have met them. If this doesn’t convince you what about Christian from Project Runway? You used to always complain about him but now that he has won Project Runway you love him. It doesn’t make sense, Trent. I am asking you this as a fan; please, please, please stick to your own beliefs.

Trent, change nothing, darling. You’re fabulous.
Gabrielle, I think this primary election season has somehow seeped into your brain. I would expect every former Hillary supporter to now be an avid Obama supporter, or an avid McCain supporter, or STFU. Hillary Clinton is no longer a candidate. Unless you live in NY and feel strongly about supporting your Senator, please stop talking about Hillary.
As far as Speidi and Christian, I watched as Trent’s views and “beliefs”, if you must, grow and change as any normal person’s would. I don’t read blogs because the author presents one static, loyal view. I read them because the author is just like me, and all of us: constantly taking in new points of view and new nuggets of evidence, and constantly molding their points as things change.
Trent is human, and a fabulous one at that! So get off his back; thanks.
Lastly, go Barack! Yes, we ALL can!

Gabrielle, I think Trent’s just trying to heal the rift. I was a Hillary supporter and still am. JeffRob, this is not a Barack Obama fan board, quit the propoganda.
I think Trent’s previous statements about Spencer and Heidi were judgements based without experience behind them. Now that he’s gotten to know them, he probably wants to show that they’re not as bad as he thought.

trent, darling, you are right about barack’s agenda being “indescribable”. that’s exactly what those of us who are actually listening to what he says (or doesn’t say) think! what exactly is his plan for “change”? to change the way we have lived up to now from a free democracy into a socialist state? maybe he and those who so adore the failures of the european nations for socialist agendas should do just that…head east.

Trent this is America baby land of free speech! Our soldiers are bravely fighting for everyone right to say whatever they please “irregardless” of what others may think, so speak baby speak. Word your blog however you would like. By allowing us to comment on your blog again, you’ve given us the right to speak to you freely and I’d hate for that to be taken away again. The beautiful thing about our country is that we are able to throw ourselves behind which ever candidate we please, for whatever reason. Some Obama supports aren’t too happy with him right now and it is their right to change sides if they feel he no longer represents them. In the end we are all going to really end up with 2 major candidates. A lot of people have had to change their candidate, that is just how our system works we as human beings need to be capable of change when our options are no longer available, and I commend you for supporting Obama after Hilary Clinton was unable to secure enough votes. You may not think so, but it was very gracious of you to do so considering the strong feelings each candidates voter base had. So please don’t change who you are and what you do, somethings are just way to petty to fuss over, and thanks for bringing back comments i may hardly ever comment but it’s nice to know that i can!

And this is gossip how? I miss the old Trent that didn’t think so highly of his own opinions and just gave the gossip details. I can tell by the sparse ads I’m not the only one.

Trent-
Please stick to goss….
Obama is just an overblown ego that is trying to qwell his need for “change”
t has been a mere 3.5 weeks since Hillary Clinton suspended her campaign. Since that time, we are now getting a front row introduction to Barack Obama.
In a mere 26 days, Senator Obama, as advertised, is indeed the candidate of change:
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on Jerusalem (within 24 hours);
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on NAFTA (remember Ohio – ugh);
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on meeting with Iran (that insignificant enemy);
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on campaign finance;
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on condoning Countrywide (good thing he changed his mind after his own relationship with Northern Trust – to say nothing of Dodd and Johnson);
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on the second amendment (DC handgun ban);
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on gay marriage (California’s right to gay marriage);
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on FISA;
And the grand daddy of ‘em all……
* Senator Obama flip-flopped on withdrawing from Iraq (the centerpiece of his primary campaign).
Good news for Senator Obama — we still have 4 months left until the election.
Ah, my dear fellow Democrats, the party surely is getting what it deserves.
And now, let me introduce to you: Barack Obama, the candidate of change!

Obama is an eloquent and charismatic speaker. But the man is a socialist! He is proposing a huge amount of very expensive government programs. The only way the government can pay for them is to raise taxes on ‘the rich’… who are already paying a disproportionately huge percentage of all the US taxes. By the way, under his new economic plans, people who were not formerly considered ‘rich’ WILL be considered ‘rich’ and will be socked with the huge disproportionate taxes in order to pay for more bloated government programs.
PLEASE read Obama’s Blueprint for Change. There is a reason that Socialist leaders around the world are supporting him.
Now, back to Britney goss.

I agree 100% Trent. This was a REALLY good move for him. Did you know that the date is set on the Anniversary of the iconic anniversary of the M.L.K I have a dream speech??? Brilliant!
July 8th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
I’m a democrat, but I am still in disbelief at how ridiculously stupid most democrats are. By nominating Obama we’ve basically given John Mc Cain the election.
ps…Chad, you are right!!!! Obama flip-flops on everything. This man will tell whatever lies he has to to win. He still lies about being a Muslim because he knows that would interfere with his plan to take over the white house, and start destroying our country because some made-up god named ALLAH told him to. That whole made up religion/cult is based on hatred. Do your research people!!!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Sue, go back to your trailer and sip your Bud Light. Muslims believe in parts of the old testament, so by insulting them, you basically just degraded Christianity and Judaism. Do your research redneck.
