OY! Yesterday was a very long day … since I only got 4 hours sleep the night before, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it thru the day … but fortunately there was enough exciting stuff to take care of to keep me going. At long last, I finally took possession of my new 2009 VW Tiguan crossover! All my life I’ve only had small, sporty cars so this time around I wanted to get something a bit bigger but still sleek and cool. I was looking for a crossover (SUV coupe) and was very happy to learn that VW *just* came out with their own crossover model. I am a big VW fan, I can’t bear to part with my VW Beetle (which is back home in Detroit) so I was very happy that I had a new VW option this time around. I placed the order in May and the car arrived from Wolfsburg, Germany Thursday … and I got to bring my baby home yesterday:

I am so happy … the car is sharp as hell :) I didn’t have much time to play with it cuz last night a bunch of us got together for Mike’s birthday dinner at Bella and party at Paul and Corey’s … here are a few pics:

The night was very chill, very fun. Mike’s friends Blair, Adam and Eric (along with his sister Jill and brother Jeff) joined us for the festivities as did Darion’s friend Cameron. A great time was had by all.
Today, I’m keeping holed up in my apartment … I have to pack for NY/London/Paris and take care of a million other things before I fly out tomorrow. I feel so fortunate to have great friends in my life. I’m looking forward to traveling with David and seeing Steph and Alek in France. I gotta say, I life is good …

Trent!!!!! Your car kicks ass!!!! i love vw’s too, always have!!! This one looks great on ya!!
Just what we need Trent, another gas hog on the road. You LA people are all the same.
Hahahhaha! i love your car! it kicks ass, stylin and what not! you should definitley get some kick ass rims for that VW!
Love the new VW — Wunderbar! Ewige Blumenkraft!
Sunfires and Batmobiles are also durable options in a Detroit pinch ;->
Bon voyage, man! Shake hands with Obama for me if you run across him in your European travels . . .
Yeah – not a big fan of the gas guzzlers, especially when all of LA is paved (there’s hardly a need for 4WD!) and you do so much flying anyway. Not impressed, but I’m glad you like it. Enjoy Europe (and check out their sexy small cars ;)
WOW… This is so random, but I have been reading your blog forever now, and I just recognized Mike in your picture- he’s totally Blair Herter’s friend (lawyer too I think?) and I lived in Santa Monica and my roomie and I always hung out with them.
SMALL WORLD!!
Love your car. I am in the market for a new one. I live in Colorado so it will most likely be a crossover of some kind. I have been looking at the Honda CR-V, but now I kinda like your Volkswagon. I have never heard of that model, and I thought I looked at every crossover available at the auto show.
Why do you stil dress like you’re in high school?
Yup…Sooooooo, LA.
You guys are idiots for calling the Tiguan a gas guzzler. It gets 25 MPG! And it’s not huge. Can’t you see the picture of him standing next to it?! He’s taller than the car! Morons…
Trent, I love your car! It’s roomy yet still sporty and quite fuel efficient! Keep us updated on how you like it. I’m thinking of getting one for my next car.
Your car looks great, I’m so glad it finally arrived!! Have safe travels!!
Isnt that Adam from The Road Rules? Mmm…he’s definately gotten better with age!
You make me happy. I’m so glad you were able to enjoy such a great night with your friend Mike. Your friendship is just like the friendship I have with all my friends.
Even with all your joy over your new VW, I still can’t see myself ever giving up my Beetle…98 model, no more A/C, classic VW electrical issues, with the check engine light glowing in the night…but it LOOKS awesome! I’ll never own another model!!!
And I, too, am a former Detroiter! I’ve enjoyed your blog for years only recently beginning to comment, and before your move to CA, loved to see where you went bc it usually brought back some memories for me.
I just love it.
Congrats on the new vehicle. Although I think it would’ve been setting a better example had you gotten a hybrid or something more environmentally friendly. Given that you have a following, you could’ve influenced people to a better choice.
Julie. You poor girl. You’ve been led to believe that 25 MPG is good. Oil is finite, my friend.
No role modelin’ here … I’m not out to set examples, I just live my life :)
Is that car eco-friendly? Hope so!
Yep, that car totally kicks ass! Very nice! Congratulations!
