Some of you really need to get that giant stick out your ass and get a life. If you don’t like what Jamie-Lynn or OK magazine is “endorsing” or so you would make it seem, then fine, don’t read all this hollywood crap. And if you’re seriously worried that your kid may be brainwashed by a magazine article into thinking that having a baby at 17 is a good idea, then maybe you should rethink your role as a parent.

Uh, well, yeah. Problem is with this junk being forced into everyone’s face everytime they turn on the TV or pick up a magazine or browse the net, they become role models whether the parent’s are fulfilling their duty or not.

If someone is on plastered across the media, the impression is given that they are worthy of attention, and therefore become role models whether we like it or not. I wanted to be Superman when I was a kid, and I wasn’t neglected by my parents. It’s just what I was exposed to.

The cavalier attitude western society has towards teenage pregnancy makes me want to move my family to a private island somewhere in the south pacific and never have any contact with the outside world for the rest of my days.

This type of coverage is mental poison for young girls. I fear for my daughter growing up with these irresponsible spoiled brats as role models.

I keep thinking to myself that this type of crap won’t last forever, but the media keeps proving me wrong. When will we admit to ourselves that this stuff is just garbage, and what really matters is our own lives and our own families?

Toooooooooooooooooootally the wrong message. I’m going to go throw up now. I worked with a 17 year old that had a 2 year old son. She BARELY took care of it. Her mom did EVERYTHING. He was more her little brother than her son.

Yes, I agree with most of the comments above, she does look older with the new hair highlights and makeup. An advise to all teen girls, please finish High School and proceed with going to college or some credited school – you can still do it if you are a young mother, but its a lot harder.

It’s not grey hair people..its very light blonde and it’s the lighting that is making it look weird. Anyways, she’s a little slut, her mom’s a money whore. Of course we could all have babies well taken care of at 17 if we made money off of they disney channel and had our mom sell our images to magazines. The Spears family is pathetic, greedy, and money hungry.

I was a mom at 17 and it has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. How fortunate JL is too have made so much money and hopefully it will help give little Maddie a good start. But money isnt everything in raising kids. A child needs love and a parent who encourages them to pick the right path in Life and hopefully that is something that JL and Casey can offer this child.

In response to faith’s post above, unfortunately, teenagers rarely listen to their parents. When you are a teenager you already know everything about everything so anything your parents say is generally dismissed. Well it was that way for me anyhow.

I don’t think this article is necessarily promoting teen pregnancy; they are just making the best out of her situation. I was 17 when I got pregnant, and I am 25 now. My son is now 6, and I am working on my Ph.D, own a home, and am married to a wonderful man. People do make it through tough situations, and is it so much to ask to be happy for her and to wish her luck?

I would like to think that today’s teen aren’t stupid enough to think that if they get themselves knocked up it’ll all be hunkee-doree… My sister was a teen mom and she’s had a really hard time being a mom and a student for the last five years (she’s in college at the moment, and has three kids total now). And to quote Erin, she’s had very little “rainbows and ice cream”…

i am truly disturbed by this. not only does she look about 40 in these pictures, but kids that looked up to her and watched her show see this and god knows what they think. i wish her the best, but think she’s doing a whole bunch of young people a disservice by acting like teen pregnancy and motherhood is all rainbows and ice cream.

I agree, this is fucked up. OK is so promoting teen pregnancy with the little blurb in blue letters. Teen pregnancy will be taking an upwards spike because they are making it sound like puppies and ice cream. Maybe they put gray hair on her to make her appear older.

As a teenager myself, this picture is just weird. It’s strange seeing a girl my own age with a baby, and it sickens me to see the headline promoting teen pregnancy. I could not imagine what it would be like to get pregnant, have to drop out of school and take care of the baby…but then again, I’m not fabulously wealthy and famous.

My mom would freak if I got preggers, but look at Lynne Spears, who is arranging million dollar front-covers with her grandchildren. It seems like this pregnancy was very good publicity for the Spears clan, and they’re making as much cash out of a bad situation as possible.

Agreed with all the others. This is promoting and glamorizing teen pregnancy. “Happy little life” indeed, when you live at rich mom’s house and can buy fancy nurseries for your irresponsible teenage ass.
