James McAvoy Does ‘Details’ Magazine

July 8th, 2008

Angelina Jolie’s most recent leading man, James McAvoy, is featured on the cover of the new issue of Details magazine … behold:

Except for his smoldering blue eyes, the cover photo is pretty unremarkable. In fact, the man doesn’t get as much attention as he should considering the films he’s been in thus far in his career. I liked Wanted and I expected to hear more about James’s starring role in the movie but when you’re paired up opposite Angelina Jolie, well, it’s hard for people to even know that you’re there. The most press I’ve read on the man came from his role in Atonement opposite Keira Knightley and yet I still remember him best as Mr. Tumnus, the half-goat man in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I’m not sure if Wanted is going to be enough to cement his leading man status but he gave it a good try. I hope he has more success in the future, I’d hate to see this one fade away.

This man takes my breath away. Imagine those eyes looking straight at you. I’ve seen him in “Chronicles” but he was really good in “The Last King of Scotland”.

  2. Duckie Says:

This picture really doesnt do him justice. He’s such a good looking guy in a “guy next door” kind of way :)

  3. Nikki Says:

I agree with tanya, he was great in Last King of Scotland.

  4. SpecialK Says:

He looks appealing in this pic more so than in the movie Wanted.

  5. richa Says:

i loved him in Penelope he is jus soo cute especially the accent :D

  6. Leslie Says:

Have you seen him in “Rory O’Shea was here” – He’s remarkable. I have no desire to see Wanted. Can’t wait til his next venture.

  7. Kay Says:

He gets quite a lot of press over here in the UK, though thats probably because he’s currently one of the few british actors who has managed to break into hollywood lately… definately recommend him in Becoming Jane, gorgeous and superb acting, what more can you ask for?

I think it’s interesting Trent. You only blog about people you “hear” about. James is a talented actor who has been in many other award winning films beside his recent movies with Kiera and Jolie. Just because he is a paparazzi whore doesn’t mean his career isn’t where it should be. Cheers for putting him on the site though.

  9. DDC Says:

LOVE James McAvoy… thanks for posting this! He’s fantastic in The Last King of Scotland & Atonement, as well as Wanted. That also makes the third accent I’ve heard of his (one real, two fake) and all are convincing.

Also, he’s not British– he’s Scottish.

  10. Eddy Says:

There was much talk about him in Last King of Scotland, mainly because we got to see his “bits”

  11. [☆F a m o u s☆] Says:

    he’s the future.

  12. Aimee Says:

Hmm…I don’t remember his “bits”, but it was an incredible movie based on Ugandan history that all should see.

  13. bones Says:

he is fine as hell, but that picture’s just weird. too much make-up. he was amazing in atonement, and wanted was a cool movie, except for the whole “loom of fate” thing- pretty ridiculous.

  14. Winona Says:

Great pic – but I still can’t get past the “forget condoms: young single guys are getting vasectomies” headline. And that protects against STDs how???

  15. Ana Says:

I LOVE JAMES McAVOY! Thank you trent for putting him on. I’m going out to get the mag asap.

  16. Tweet Says:

    Dear Trent,

    Less Speidi, more James McAvoy.

    Kthnxbye

Also, to DDC: last time I checked, Scotland was still a part of the UK, thus Scots are indeed British subjects.

I agree with [☆F a m o u s☆] , he is the future. We don’t need a lot of fluffy hype, that type of attention soon fades. He is the type of actor that will be working well into his Golden Years like the lovely Robert Redford, Anthony Hopkins and the like. Plus his hotness melts me, Panini Press hot, he leaves a mark!! Anyone catch him on Shameless, funny shit.

  18. Emily Kearney Says:

    Hey Trent!!

First time I’ve ever posted, however, I’ve read your blog religiously. You seem like a lovely person! : )

Anywho, Rory O’Shea Was Here can also be called Inside I’m Dancing. He is brilliant in it and I completely recommend it. A totally charming and unexpected treat.

  19. klate Says:

He’s also Pvt. James Miller in a very brief appearance in the fanastic mini series “Band of Brothers.”
He’s just a refreshing person in the Hollywood crowd. I agree: Less Speidi more actually talented people!

  20. Tammy Says:

and a fantiastic looking goat man he was! I havent seen alot of his work but the last king of scotland and atonement are set up on my computer ready to watch already.
