While the new batch of wannabe designers are battling it out for winner of Project Runway season 5, last season’s winner (who was crowned just this past February) has already hit the ground running with his first official line of clothing. As part of his prize as Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano was given the opportunity to design and sell a line of clothing for Bluefly … and yesterday, the first pieces from his collection were unveiled to the world:

Bluefly, the leading online retailer for on-trend designer clothing at a great value, will be the first to offer Christian Siriano’s women’s collection on its site beginning today. The 22-year-old designer who skyrocketed to fame by winning season IV of the highly rated reality show, Project Runway, will debut his first collection of eight silhouettes in a range of colors exclusively through Bluefly. Each piece is signature Siriano: fierce and fashion forward. While clearly directional and undeniably edgy, the collection will offer customers a range from jackets to t-shirts and skinny pants to a red carpet worthy dress with items that will retail in price from $96.00 – $520.00. Since taking the top honor on the show, Siriano has caught the eye of several celebrities including fashion icons Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Vanessa Williams, Kimberly Locke, Whoopi Goldberg and others. With his first collection, he stayed true to his avant-garde vision, creating pieces that his doting fans are sure to adore. The garments boast such details as puffed shoulders, exposed zippers, ruffles and incredible ruching. Christian Siriano said, “Working with Bluefly has been completely amazing. They have the fiercest customers and I am so excited to have the opportunity to sell my very first collection with them.” This collaboration is part of an ongoing partnership between Bluefly and Project Runway, which began with the first episode of Season IV and earned Bluefly the number-one rated television show brand integration of 2007, according to the IAG Research annual integration rankings. The relationship continues with Season V. Bluefly CEO, Melissa Payner said, “Christian Siriano is an extremely gifted young designer and we are thrilled to be the first retailer to offer his line to consumers. We worked closely with him to create this exclusive collection, maintaining all of the unique essence that people have come to expect from him while focusing on what we know will excite our customers to click and buy. And we are also excited to announce that we have created a series of behind-the-scenes videos that document the making of this collection with Christian. His endearing antics are what made him so loved by fans of Project Runway and we know Bluefly customers are anxiously waiting for more,” she added.
I gotta say … these pieces look pretty much like Christian Siriano designs. I’m not sure if he intentionally wanted to mimic pieces that he previously created (the hat, the ruffles, the skinny fit) but there’s no denying that these are Siriano originals. The design pieces have been given cute names like Posh, Dinner At 8 and London Guard — clearly inspired by the look and feel of the designs (and, very prolly, by Vicki B. herself). If you are interested in owning pieces from this collection you can order them online HERE. The shizz is pretty pricey (ranging from $290 to $590) but I expect that it’s bound to sell … right?

half the shits already sold out
“great value”? A $96 t-shirt is *not* a “great value”. Not even a marginally good one, thankyouverymuch. A $9 t-shirt, however; now *that’s* a great value.
a quote off of the bluefly site: “Christian created these ‘Ageless’ skinny pants for everyone from the fierce teen to the diva grandmother, saying ‘Grandma should be fierce too!’ ” LOL Seriously, I really like those pants…I just can’t see them on my fierce Grandmother…
I love that one jacket, but the other stuff’s kinda ‘eh’ for me.
and Laynie is right- it’s all sold out! Must have been a very limited first run

Oh please, all of his design’s are straight off the catwalks of Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Jean Paul Gaultier. Americans, don’t buy into everything. He’s not a real designer.
Size 2 or 6? I’ll PASS.
