The 2008 Outfest Film Festival got underway here in Hollywood, CA last night as the Opening Night Gala took place at The Orpheum Theatre. Among the many attendees at last night’s event was the supercute powercouple made up of T.R. Knight and his much younger boyfriend Mark Cornelson (who were laughing it up on the red carpet like nobody’s business) … here are a few pics of The Mark-Knight at last night’s Outfest Gala event:
I’m sorry but they just make the cutest couple EVER! They always look so happy (I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pic of Mark without his trademark grin) and you always see them holding hands … their adorableness is borderline nauseating, yes? It may be difficult for some to understand what a 19 year old and a 36 year old might have in common to talk about (comic books or Tolstoy? The Hills or Meet the Press?) but with an obvs happy couple like The Mark-Knight, well, I’m sure they do just fine. It’s always such a pleasure to see these two out and about, hand-in-hand so happy together … they’re always the perfect way to warm the coldest cockles of anyone’s heart.

As much as I love to see T.R. happy, I cannot see this relationship lasting in the long run. As mature as he may appear to be, Mark is still only 19 and at some point a 19-year-old will want to experience things that he can only do as a single man and will regret getting into a serious relationship at such a young age…that will ultimately be the the end of that relationship. I’m speaking from experience as I dated an older man when I was around his age and that ended because I wasn’t ready. It wasn’t until I was into my 20′s that I was able to enter a much more stable relationship with an older man…one that I’m still happily in years later.
They look super cute.
While I agree that they will likely run into some major challenges (i.e. fame, age difference, life experience, emotional maturity etc.) as they continue. I don’t think that Keith is necessarily right in his assertions either.
The presumption is that they are in a committed, monogamous relationship. But for all we know, they could also be in a loving (or not so loving) open relationship, where they are emotionally connected, but open to physical intimacy with others.
Relationships are complex and we shouldn’t necessarily impose our definitions of what a successful relationship looks like.
