Whooo! It is hot here in Paris this week, y’all. I know that folks think that SoCal gets hot but without humidity it’s not really all that bad at all … it’s hot and humid here this week and it’s kicking our collective butts but we are having a blast nonetheless. Yesterday, we spent the first part of the day shopping around town … paid a visit to the Champs-Elysses and the Lafayette Galleries and did our best to stay as cool as possible … here are a few pics:

But my favorite part of the day (possibly the trip over all) happened last night after the sun went down. After the jump, check out a bunch of pics from our midnight champagne picnic at the Eiffel Tower, which is lit up with blue lights all this month in celebration of France’s presidency of the European Union this year …
Voila:

I have to say, the Eiffel Tower has to be my favorite landmark in all the world. I fell in love with the structure when I was a kid and was so thrilled when I was finally able to see it with my own eyes back in September of 2006 when David and I visited Paris for the first time. Seeing the amazing structure lit up in blue was a very special treat … Steph and Alek (and the city of Paris) know how to make folks feel welcome around here. We spent close to two hours hanging out on the lawns in front of the tower, drinking champagne, eating crepes … just hanging out. It was so much fun … I can’t even tell you.
As a bonus, check out this short video of the blue Eiffel Tower twinkling so you can kinda sorta enjoy some of our night last night:
Yeah, the vid doesn’t do the sight justice but at least you can enjoy un petit taste :)

That looks awesome! I was there only two months ago. I never saw those blue lights, although I did see the sparkly white ones.
Bonjour de France ( normandie ) , I’m glad that you like Paris , i lived there during one year last year and i hope to come back and see la tour Eiffel in blue , beautiful pictures !! merci beaucoup to share your pics @+
ok…were you guys on a bridge over the Seine between 10-1130 last night? I know it’s a big time gap but I was on a boat and swear I saw two guys that looked like you…
OK OK, you have talked me into it. I want Paris to be my next big trip. Hawaii is this year, maybe in a couple of years I can go. Our problem is we don’t do anything on the cheap, so we have to save for it, you know the best hotels, food and the like.
i totally agree… i love that you share some of your life with us trent. paris seems absolutely beautiful and i liked watching the twinkling tower lol
i would love to go to paris some day
I absolutely agree with JHop. The “TV Guide” is easily my favourite part of the blog. I love hearing about what you’re doing!!
This is gorgeous! You are very lucky Trent! Have fun the rest of the time!
I am enjoying reading your posts about your trip more than the celeb gossip that usually makes my day more fun. Keep sharing and thanks for sharing the pics too! That twinkly tower is amazing. Those are artistic pics!
Eiffel Tower, champagne picnic, and wonderful friends…yes, life is good! Thanks for sharing your good times and reminding us all to get out there and enjoy it.

i just came back from studying abroad in paris, and your blog made me miss it so much!!! i wish i could have been there to see the tower light up in blue, but your video was the next best thing =) thanks for always sharing your experiences with us!
Darn it – couldn’t you tell us your plans before you go places so we can ‘accidentally’ run into you in the city?!
Glad you’re enjoying it!
Oh – and I think it’s funny you’re drinking champagne out of martini glasses – that is borderline blasphemy here! :)
jealouss!! those are fabulous pics!!! i wish i was there right now!
I agree with the sentiment that I love reading about and seeing some of your personal life, especially when it includes such exciting experiences.
Really, enjoy reading the blog and have for a few years– especially admire how you seem to genuinely appreciate all that the blog and your readers have allowed you to do. Thanks for being a normal guy :)
Hope the trip continues to be a blast!
Those are really great pics!! Thanks for sharing:)
