Whooo! It is hot here in Paris this week, y’all. I know that folks think that SoCal gets hot but without humidity it’s not really all that bad at all … it’s hot and humid here this week and it’s kicking our collective butts but we are having a blast nonetheless. Yesterday, we spent the first part of the day shopping around town … paid a visit to the Champs-Elysses and the Lafayette Galleries and did our best to stay as cool as possible … here are a few pics:

But my favorite part of the day (possibly the trip over all) happened last night after the sun went down. After the jump, check out a bunch of pics from our midnight champagne picnic at the Eiffel Tower, which is lit up with blue lights all this month in celebration of France’s presidency of the European Union this year …
Voila:

I have to say, the Eiffel Tower has to be my favorite landmark in all the world. I fell in love with the structure when I was a kid and was so thrilled when I was finally able to see it with my own eyes back in September of 2006 when David and I visited Paris for the first time. Seeing the amazing structure lit up in blue was a very special treat … Steph and Alek (and the city of Paris) know how to make folks feel welcome around here. We spent close to two hours hanging out on the lawns in front of the tower, drinking champagne, eating crepes … just hanging out. It was so much fun … I can’t even tell you.
As a bonus, check out this short video of the blue Eiffel Tower twinkling so you can kinda sorta enjoy some of our night last night:
Yeah, the vid doesn’t do the sight justice but at least you can enjoy un petit taste :)

Trent, one of my favorite things about your blog is that we all get to share in your experiences with you. I know that you probably keep the really personal stuff close to the vest, but getting to see you and your friends having a great time all over the world really does warm my heart. Especially since I’m stuck at home with a broken ankle, I enjoy knowing that at least someone is out and about having a blast!
Keep having fun, enjoy your summer and keep entertaining us! Much love from Chicago!
Beautiful – your pals took some great pictures. And I will have to echo what JHop said – I love the fact that you bring us along for the ride.
Wow the Tour Eiffel does take one’s breath away, n’est pas?? I would love to see the twinkly lights in person but the video is the next best thing. Thanks Trent! That was a really fun idea to have a late night picnic — brills!
wow you got some amazing pics of the the Effiel Tower! I love that it was all blue, even though it would have been awesome if it was PINK!! maybe you could photoshop that….
wow! that is amazing! it sounds like you’re having the best time! you deserve it ;)
Trent,
I must agree with JHop. We semi-experience your life through these great posts and it warms my heart something wicked to read them, close my eyes and travel as I am stuck inside an office, albeit a cool one, all day long. As I read your personal posts amid the awesome gossip, I make a mental list of places to visit, things to try, etc.
I cannot thank you enough for giving my working day a mini-vacation from time to time.
FYI, Texas is hot and humid so I hear ya on it killing you.
I have to agree too…we all live a little vicariously through you! Totally jealous of your trip, but of course I’m glad you’re having a great time.
i was there two months ago and had a little picnic near the tour – complete with wine and brie. but the tour eiffel looks way better in the blue light.
That is so awesome. I totally agree with you when you see the Effiel tower your heart just stops. I loved it so much. It is so pretty blue and I bet you guys had the best time ever. I love all the pictures. You should pitch a show for the travel channel…they would probably pick it up! Keep the fun pics coming!!!
Nice photo, guys!! With the Eiffel Tower–LOL! Yes, TELL me about the humidity–Italy is VERY unbearable right about NOW! I cannot wait to go to England and Ireland next month! CIAO!
OMG so pretty and looks like an amazingly fun time! Thanks for sharing.
bonjours ,je suis de France ,j’espére que tu aime ce pays ,mais qui ne l’aime pas ?
ton blog est super continue
gros bizoux
ps: désolé je ne suis pas bonne en anglais alors ce message sera en français
Definitely jealous right now. The Eiffel Tower looks so cool all lit up in blue like that! When I saw it in person for the first time at night, it almost brought a tear to my eye. It’s just so cool to actually stand at the foot of such a world-reknowned landmark, and the twinkling lights make it even more amazing. Enjoy your trip!!
I have been to the Eiffel Tower and seeing it in blue is beautiful! I believe I was there in July of 2000………(somewhere in June or July, it has been a while) and what I found hilarious was that the illegal vendors that hang out around the bottom of the tower scatter like cockroaches exposed to light when they hear police sirens……..oh man, we were freaked the first time, then realized they are all breaking the law by selling unauthorized merch! hahah………wonder if those types of vendors are still there? Anyway……..have a blast!
Oh wow, I can’t believe how I’m stuck here in Sweden, and you’re out have such a good time in Paris! Happy to see the photos and all though. Like everybody else has already said, it’s nice to see these fragments of your life. It brings a big smile to my face to read about the champagne picnic, wishing I could be there ;)
Lots of love, Jess
You take the best pictures EVER! I love this blog because of that. You’re amazing and I’m glad that you’re enjoying yourself. Take care!
a blue eiffel! how special!
That is absolutely gorgeous! I’m also so glad you share you pictures Trent. Sadly, I’ve never been to France. I have to make it out there some day.
The Eifel Tower looks amazing! I was there in 2000 with my boyfriend (now husband). He proposed at midnight under the Eifel Tower as it sparkling with white lights. The blue lights are very cool too.
Wow that looks amazing twinkling like that! AWESOME! Glad your having a fantastic time!
