Apparently, They Won’t Be There For You
BOOOOOOOOOOOO! It is my sad duty to Peace the Spork Out the rumors that the cast of Friends will be reuniting for a movie on the big screen. This past Wednesday, new rumors starting going around that the long-awaited, much-anticipated Friends Movie might finally be made in the wake of the huge success enjoyed by the Sex and the City Movie. It was speculated that production on the new Friends Movie might get underway “within the next 18 months”. Today, representatives for both Warner Bros. and a couple of the principal stars themselves are shooting down those rumors, essentially killing all hope for a Friends Movie at all:

A representative for Warner Bros film studio has quashed speculation of a Friends reunion movie … It was rumoured earlier this week that Cox and Aniston were keen to reprise their roles for a movie version of the show, as long as the story was right. They were alleged to have been inspired by the massive box office success of Sex and the City: The Movie, which was turned from a TV series into a big-screen film earlier this year. But the claims have been refuted by executives at Warner Bros, the studio behind Friends. Jayne Trotman, Warner’s director of publicity in the U.K., says, “(There’s) no truth in the story.” And publicists for both Cox and Perry have also stepped in to deny the rumours. Perry’s spokeswoman, Lisa Kasteler, adds, “Nothing is happening in this regard, so the rumour is false.”
Well ain’t this just a big ol’ steaming order of Poop Sandwich? I think it is such a mistake to keep stalling on making this movie. To be honest, I think they might even be too late to make a good enough Friends Movie as it stands … continuing to delay any potential movie is just a bad idea. I’m all about striking while the iron is hot … SaTC really proved that a TV show of such popularity can make a successful transition to the big screen. I realize that fans really have no say in such matters as these but I really wish the executives and the actors we love (loved?) so much would really reconsider. Further delay will only further damn any chances of a successful Friends Movie will ever be made. Again, I say, Boo!

That sucks! Friends is so much better than SATC!
They could’ve done a wedding with Ross and Rachel! Argh! :P

Man….I wanna see Ross and Rachel together….they got back together with like 3 minutes left in the finale…NOT ENOUGH TIME! And I wanna see Monica and Chandler with little preschoolers…how cute would that be!

well when you think about it, the ending of the show pretty much showed everyone what happens to all of them.
i mean what do we want, a movie showing a wedding, monica and chandler raising kids?
I have not seen the SaTC movie or ending of the show, so I cannot relate it to that.
But uhh yeah we all know they got a happy ending.

Lord save us from all of these desperately grasping, long outdated, series’ that, in a last ditch effort too see career daylight again, are all lunging for movie deals.
The SATC series was witty, often amusingly realistic, and occasionally poignant. Unfortunately, I feel many will agree that too wait that long to bring it to the big screen, only made the flailing careers of it’s past starlets that much more painfully obvious.
Merely suggesting a movie version of Friend’s right now, once again, makes me pause and ponder, for a nanosecond, “whatever happened to those bozos”? Can you even imagine that cast reunited? Anistan oozing “I’ve been spurned” vibes, the new “this expression is permanent” Cox, consistently dopey-eyed nasal-voiced schwimmer (ugh), Perry ever exuding a “aren’t I adorable?” question on his face (though I was sorry to see Studio 60 cancelled), and how thrilling it would be to see the almost 42 year old LeBlanc reprise his loose moraled, dumb-as-a-post but sweet-as-honey role…thrilling indeed.

Umm… Squishy, it seems that you didn’t like the show at all to begin with! Haha! I say, bring on Friends the movie!!!

In the name of saving the environment, I hope that plastic sporks will no longer be used for the ‘peace the spork out’ graphic. :)

Squishy, although I love Friends and even watch reruns I agree. Um however, your post was hard to read as you kept using the word “too” when you meant “to”.
