BlakeLey Workin’ Hard For The Money

What a way to make a living
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Earlier today we learned about the new dude who will be joining the cast of Gossip Girl in the upcoming second season but let’s check in with a couple of our fave original characters from the show. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, who are also romantically involved in real life, were snapped filming a romantic scene on the streets of NYC this week … here are a few pics of the couple preparing to get up close and personal with one another:

Aww … it looks like Penn is shy … performance anxiety, much? Fans of the show may recall that Serena van der Woodsen (Blake) and Dan Humphrey (Penn) ended their relationship on the show at the end of last season … it looks like the couple will be reconciling in the new season. After the jump, check out a few more photos of BlakeLey filming the rest of this scene, where the couple get up close and personal with one another’s tonsils …

‘9 To 5: The Musical’ Gets A Theater, Opening Date

The show opens at The Marquis in April '09
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Dolly Parton, Allison Janney, Megan Hilty and Stephanie J. Block were all on hand at the New 42nd Street Studios in NYC yesterday for a press conference to announce the opening date and theater home of 9 to 5: The Musical. Here are a few pics from yesterday’s event and some information on the show’s opening date:

The Marquis Theatre will be the Broadway home of the feisty office workers who are “just a step on the bossman’s ladder” in the Dolly Parton-Patricia Resnick musical comedy 9 to 5, producer Robert Greenblatt announced July 15. Following a fall run at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles (Sept. 3-Oct. 19, opening Sept. 20), the Joe Mantello-directed production will begin Broadway previews March 24, 2009, and open April 23, 2009. 9 to 5: The Musical, based on the 20th Century Fox motion picture, has book by original screenwriter Resnick (who also came up with the film’s original story) and music and lyrics by country music legend and seven-time Grammy Award winner Dolly Parton, who also starred in the smash 1980 movie. This marks the Broadway debut of the writers. Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (In the Heights) will choreograph. As previously announced, 9 to 5: The Musical will star four-time Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Allison Janney as Violet, Stephanie J. Block as Judy, Megan Hilty as Dorelee, and two-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch as Mr. Hart. (Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Parton and Dabney Coleman played the respective roles in the movie.) Here’s the plot: “When pushed to their boiling point by their boss, Franklin Hart Jr. (Marc Kudisch), Violet Newstead (Allison Janney), the super efficient office manager, Judy Bernly (Stephanie J. Block), a frazzled divorcee, and the sexy executive secretary Doralee Rhodes (Megan Hilty) turn the tables on him. The trio hatches a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot, and that plan quickly spins wildly and hilariously out of control.” Parton’s original score for 9 to 5: The Musical will include over 20 new songs as well as the Grammy Award-winning, Academy Award-nominated No. 1 Billboard title song. “Backwoods Barbie,” heard on Parton’s new album of the same name, is also part of the show’s score, Parton previously said.

Love it, love it, love it! I’m not sure what I’m more excited about … the 20-song catalog or the amazing casting. You may recall that I was able to interview Megan Hilty a few months ago and she talked about preparing for her role as Doralee Rhodes in 9 to 5: The Musical. I deffo plan on seeing this show when it goes into pre-previews this Fall here in SoCal. After the jump, check out some promo artwork that will be used for the show …

Andy Dick Busted!

Arrested on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

TMZ is reporting that comedian Andy Dick was arrested in the wee hours of the morning today on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery … in front of a Buffalo Wild Wings establishment … which, if you think about it, is fitting for a guy like Andy Dick:

Wacked out crazy comedian Andy Dick was arrested early this morning in Murrieta, Calif. on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery. Cops busted the 42-year-old Dick just before 2 AM this morning in the parking lot near a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. He’s still in the joint, and his bail’s been set at $5,000.

You know, alleged drug possession and sexual battery coupled with close proximity to a buffalo wings fast food joint sounds very Andy Dick the more you think about it. I can’t wait to hear the whole story … it’s bound to be funnier than any of Andy’s comedy routines.

Meet The New ‘Gossip’ Guy

His name is Marcus, he'll be gettin' freaky with Blair and feuding with Chuck
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

It looks like Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, will be gettin’ herself a new boyfriend (and Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick, will be gettin’ a new rival) in the upcoming second season of Gossip Girl and People magazine has sniffed out a few deets about her new man. Here are a few pics of Leighton on the NY streets sets of GG with Patrick Heusinger, who will be playing a new GG character named Marcus along with a few deets about his role on the show:

Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) was spotted on more than one occasion with a new — and very good-looking — guy while spending time in the country this summer. The same guy was also spotted getting sweaty over a game of squash with Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick). So who is this guy and what’s his story? Read on to find out. The guy’s name is Marcus (Patrick Heusinger), a source close to the show tells PEOPLE. “He’s Blair’s new love interest and Chuck’s rival,” the source says. “Blair met him in Europe, introduced by Ben, whom she flew to Italy with after Chuck stood her up” … At the end of the squash scene, observers say Marcus and Chuck shook hands on the court and then Marcus gave Chuck a number, which Chuck programmed into his phone.

Meh. Maybe Chuck was just saving the dude’s digits in order to “keep his options open” ;) That would really spice up things on the show. While I’m glad that they are infusing fresh blood into the show, I doubt his arrival will be as exciting as the arrival of Georgina Sparks, played by Michelle Trachtenberg, was at the end of last season. Tho, considering the way the producers ended her run on the show (I felt it was INCREDIBLY LAME the way she exited the show simply by way of Blair telling on Georgina to her parents) I’m hoping they’ll be more creative with this new guy. He looks a bit old, don’t he? Maybe it’s the lighting but he looks too old to be a high school student … unless Blair will be gettin’ her freak on with an older man. Dun. Dun. Duuuuun. Now, that would be exciting, too … tho, I’d still prefer it if Chuck kept his options open :)

First Look At ‘24: Exile’

The prequel teaser hits the InterWeb
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

An industrious Pink reader gave me the head’s up that the teaser trailer for the upcoming 2-hour prequel epsiode of season 7 of the FOX TV series 24 has been found online. According to the video, the prequel is tentatively titled 24: Exile. The video is labeled a “work in progress” and was put together for the FOX TCA Presentation, so it’s unclear how long it will stay online … click below to watch it while you still can:

Here is a bit of information about the 24 prequel that has already been released and fills in a few gaps presented in this video:

FOX has scheduled a two-hour “24″ telefilm to serve as a prequel to the Emmy-winning drama’s long-delayed seventh season. The network announced on Thursday (May 15) that the “24″ special will air on Sunday, Nov. 23 from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET. The extended episode will take place just a few months before the events of Season Seven, which will premiere in January 2009 … When the prequel special begins, Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer is in South Africa handling an international crisis. Back at home, the newly elected president (series newcomer Cherry Jones) is preparing for her inauguration day. That second part is bound to be more exciting than it sounds. “We’re excited about the prequel because it explores Jack’s complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from ‘24,’” says executive producer Howard Gordon in a statement. “Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone’s commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans.”

There is further explanation of the upcoming 7th season of 24 available but I am putting it behind a cut so as not to unduly spoil those of you who may not want to know about key surprises that are in store for the new season. After the jump, read the rest of this report and find out more about what we can expect from Day 7 of 24

Meet Honor Marie Alba-Warren

'OK!' magazine scores another exclusive first
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

OK! magazine has just released our first look at Jessica Alba and Cash Warren’s newborn baby girl, Honor Marie, on the cover of their new issue which hits newsstands tomorrow … and here is the little miss along with a portion of the magazine’s coverstory:

“I didn’t scream,” Jessica tells OK! in an exclusive interview and photoshoot. “It was really Zen.” And Cash could only marvel at his wife’s quiet strength when she gave birth. “She didn’t make a sound,” he says. “It was amazing.” Here, the proud pair open their door exclusively to OK!, introducing the adorable Honor Marie Warren. “It hasn’t totally sunk in,” Jessica reveals to OK!. “She dreams, she smiles, and coos and does all these things, but she hasn’t seen enough of the world yet to understand any of that stuff. So I still feel like she’s connected to the other world, or something. There’s no other way to explain it. It’s a miracle.” The Love Guru star tells OK! that she had natural birth. “The labor was more like meditation,” she says. “I did yoga breathing. I was focused.” Jessica, who tells OK! she ate “a lot of soul food” in the weeks following Honor’s birth, says she’s just now starting to shed the pregnancy pounds. “I started working out last Thursday, but for 20 minutes. I do cardio on my own. I’m doing it slow,” she says. “Now I’m starting to eat more healthy. Because after working out, having fried chicken and mashed potatoes is a little counteractive.” So who does Honor look more like? “She looks like a girl version of me,” Cash says. “She has my nose, my eyebrows and my…” “Forehead and dimples,” Jessica finishes, adding, “She has my mouth when I was a baby. And my ears.” “Maybe Honor is a mixture,” Cash reconsiders. “I want her to look like me, because a daughter looking like Jessica, I’d kill myself!”

Aww … despite Cash’s somewhat creepy comments about his baby daughter (is he implying that he’d find a daughter that “looks like Jessica” too attractive? It’s not clear just what exactly he’s trying to say but it sounds a bit icky), I think she does look like a girl version of him. She certainly has a full head of hair … she’s adorable. I’m anxious to see what the rest of the pics look like.

OK! magazine has really scored the baby coup this summer … next up, they will be releasing the first photos of Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves’s baby, Levi Alves — and we still don’t know who paid the reported $11 million for the first pics of the Brangelina twins. OK! is really on a roll. Well done.
