Les Beckhams No Longer Feign Happiness

Have they finally tired of their celebrity?
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Here are a few photos of David Beckham and Vicki B. as they made their way out of Il Sole restaurant last night and despite the pleasure I normally get from posting pics of Becks and his robotic wife, these pics leave much to be desired. Could the crabby faces on Les Beckhams mean that they’ve finally grown tired of their celebrity?

Say it ain’t so! Could it be that the intense glare of the media spotlight, that the couple have built a career on exploiting, finally be too much for the famous couple and their family? Or, mebbe they were just having a bad night? This past weekend, Becks and his eldest son Brooklyn were spotted leaving Benihana Japanese restaurant (in Becks’s phat Rolls Royce) and Brooks looked like he was fed up with his the constant attention from the paps, too:

The poor kids looks like he’s about to snap. It must be difficult having to deal with all that attention, especially at such a young age, but it’s the life his parents have chosen for him. I tend to have a hard time feeling sorry for celeb families like this because even tho they may be inconvenienced from time to time (or on a daily basis) they enjoy so much wealth and privilege that it’s hard to shed tears … especially when they work so hard to achieve that attention. Again, mebbe it was just a bad night … here’s hoping they all cheer up soon. Gloomy Gusses really mute all the potential hotness that we should be enjoying.

The Heidi Montag Mall Tour ‘08

Heidi unveils the 'Heidiwood: Club Collection' in person, in malls
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

This past Saturday, July 12th, Heidi Montag embarked on a small mall tour here in SoCal making in-store appearances at the Glendale Galleria, the Brea Mall and the Westfield Mainplace at Santa Ana to not only unveil her the Club Collection line of her Heidiwood for Anchor Blue fashion line but to also meet and greet the fans who came out to see her. Here are a couple pics from Heidi’s short mall tour this past weekend:

I understand that Heidi’s boyfriend Spencer Pratt was also in the hiz this weekend at each of Heidi’s in-store appearances … but being the shy guy that he is, he opted out of posing for any pics. Say what you will about Speidi, they are really good to their fans and take great pains to spend as much time with each person as possible. I know it’s easy to poke fun at their public persona (they oftentimes invite such criticism) but it is generally well-known among those folks who have met them that they are very sweet in person. It looks like everyone had a fun time hanging out with Heidi at Anchor Blue this weekend … I’m sorry I missed it ;)

Welcome To ‘Parsons: The New School For Design’

The Project Runway Season 5 Designers meet the work room for the first time
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

The 5th season of Project Runway debuts tomorrow night at 9pm on Bravo and in addition to revealing the new cast of designers and synopses of every single episode for the entire upcoming season (which, I still contend, is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of), the network has released a preview video to promote the season premiere. Here is a short video of the new cast of designers entering the famed Project Runway work room at Parsons design school for the very first time:

Tim Gunn is featured in this vid as he welcomes the designers to the work room. The 2 minute clip also features some designer banter at their residence and a small portion of the judging process at the end of the challenge. I’m sure it’s a nice little preview for the season premiere ep but I’m holding off on watching anything until the show debuts tomorrow night. Woot! I can’t wait :)

‘CSI:’ Loses Its Head CSI

William Petersen is leaving the show!
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Here’s the WTF? of the day … fans of CSI: will be very bummed (and most probably as shocked as I am) to learn that Entertainment Weekly is reporting that William Petersen, the actor who plays lead CSI Gil Grissom, has decided to “say goodbye” to the show and step down as the main man on the show. Petersen is reportedly staying on as an executive producer on the show and will reprise the role of Gil Grissom “whenever CBS asks” but after this season’s 10th ep, he will no longer be a regular castmember on the show:

CSI executive producer Carol Mendelsohn has confirmed exclusively to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello that William Petersen (Gil Grissom) will be gone by midseason! And not “off too do a play” gone like he was back in 2006. No, this season’s 10th episode will be his last as a full-time series regular. “Billy is leaving,” confirms the show’s executive producer, Carol Mendelsohn. “But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don’t think you’ve seen the last of Gil Grissom.” Neither does Petersen. In fact, in an exclusive interview conducted last Friday, the eight-year CSI vet seemed almost reluctant to characterize his departure as, um, a departure. Citing both his ongoing role as an executive producer AND his intention to return on occasion as a (very special) guest star, he said, “I’m in a great place in terms of knowing that I’ll be more free to make choices. And I’m responsible enough to not do it in a way that would hurt [the show]. I want it to work for the writers, I want it to work for the cast, and, MOST importantly, I want it to work for the audience,” he added. “I don’t want them to abandon the show.” In the meantime, Mendelsohn is plotting one hell of a send-off for her leading man. The events of last season’s finale — specifically the death of Gary Dourdan’s Warrick — will push Grissom to the breaking point. “The easiest way to describe Grissom is ‘in crisis,’” Petersen told me. “As a man. As a scientist. As a teacher. As a middle-aged person who has been very successful at what he’s done… [he] wonders, ‘What’s the point?” Helping Grissom through the crisis will be his true love, Sara, played by Jorja Fox, who is returning for multiple episodes, starting with the season premiere. “I wouldn’t want to say exactly what we’re going do — I want people to watch, certainly,” he chuckled. “But Sara is involved… It’s often darkest just before the dawn.” And lest anyone read any hidden meaning into that statement, the actor reiterated, “For me, it’s a really good situation. I don’t want the audience to think it’s NOT… [It isn't] like there’s something going on, like ‘Petersen’s unhappy,’ ’cause it’s not true. It’s quite the contrary” … Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn also says that her team was anything but blindsided by the upcoming departure of William Petersen. “We do have a plan,” she says … “We’re not saying whether or not Warrick lives or dies,” hedges Mendelsohn, “but we WILL say the the premiere may be the last time our loyal fans see the entire original CSI cast together.”

Wow! This is a huge shocking change to an already very solid, very popular TV series. I was really bummed when Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) left the show last season (but am relieved that she is coming back for “multiple episodes”) and was surprised that they decided to kill off Gary Dourdan’s character (Warrick Brown) in the season finale (no matter what they won’t say, Warwick got Peaced the Spork Out) but this Peterson leaving CSI: thing is madness. He is the crux of the show … I can’t imagine any other character stepping in to take Gil Grissolm’s place. This is a risky move … I hope it plays out well. I love this show and would hate to have it turn to garbage by replacing half the cast with new folks who may possibly ruin the show. Thankfully hottie George Eads (Nick Stokes) is still on the show … if he leaves, I’m out.

GyllenSpoon Celebrate French Independence

But Jake's got more important things on his mind
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

There are a few adorable pics of Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon and her daughter Ava enjoying the Bastille Day fireworks display near the Eiffel Tower making the rounds online where Ava was able to enjoy a pretty nice view of the fireworks up on Jake’s shoulders … click HERE to check them out. That’s a damn lucky little girl, yes? But while the “family” was all smiles at the fireworks display, it was a bit of a different story the next day when Jake accompanied the kiddies, both Ava and Deacon, on a stroll on the streets of Paris … clearly, Jake had more important things to do than pay any attention to Reese’s kids:

Hee hee … you will note that Reese isn’t with Jake and the kids sooo mebbe he wasn’t interested in feigning interest in them? Nah … I’m sure he was just checking up on important emails for a quick second and wasn’t totally ignoring her kids at all :)

And … just because, here is a pic of Jake’s longer hair from behind:

It’s unclear how much longer GyllenSpoon are planning to be in Paris but I think it’s about time they wrapped up their holiday and went back to the UK — Jake has important training to undertake for his next movie role. He shouldn’t be playing house when he’s got work to do.

‘Batman: The Dark Knight’ Premieres In NYC

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Batman: The Dark Knight held it’s first premiere, a black carpet event, at the AMC Loews Lincoln Center in NYC last night. All of the principal stars of the movie were in attendance (many of them matched up with their partners) including members of the late Heath Ledger’s family (who opted out of talking to any press as they walked the carpet). Here are a few pics from the black carpet arrivals at last night’s premiere:

There were lots of jubilant smiles and happy faces … it’s nice that the stars of The Dark Knight can celebrate their new movie (reportedly a tour de force for Heath Ledger) without having to cast any mournful sadness on the event over the loss of Heath Ledger. After the jump, check out more pics from the black carpet arrivals at the movie premiere and a few photos of some of the attendees at the movie’s afterparty at the Mandarin Oriental
