Matthew And Camila Name Their Son

PS: Jamie Lynn baby pics are coming tomorrow!
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

OK! magazine is reporting that Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have decided on a name for their newborn son (born last night) and have, thankfully, decided not to follow Matthew’s oldest brother Rooster’s lead and name the child after a brand of beer … instead, they named him after a brand of blue jeans:

Now that superstar actor Matthew McConaughey and longtime girlfriend Camila Alves have welcomed their first child into the world, they are revealing exclusively to OK! their son’s name — Levi Alves McConaughey. Explaining how they came up with the name for their baby boy, Matthew tells OK!, “Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person. “Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.’” Baby Levi’s middle name is taken directly from his mother Camila’s last name. “We wanted to incorporate her family name,” explains the proud new father. To all the well-wishers and fans, Matthew and Camila have also released the following statement:

“We welcome Levi Alves McConaughey into this wonderful life and look forward to living in it with him. In the mean time and all times, just keep livin’.” — Matthew David McConaughey and Camila Maria Saraiva de Araujo Alves

Aww, well that’s nice … and strangely Biblical. Gettin’ back to big bro Rooster for a sec, he gave an interview to People magazine after the birth of the newest McConaughey and proclaimed that his little bro Matthew is gonna be “one helluva dad”:

Matthew McConaughey’s brother Rooster says his little bro is one lucky fella: “It’s good to have a boy the first time ’round!” He adds jokingly: “You can get away with dropping ‘em a couple times, and they’ll still be okay. Can’t really do that with a little girl.” For now the newest addition to the McConaughey clan is resting under the watchful eye of his parents … “He’s probably a bit tired right now, probably been sitting around that hospital just staring at the little guy,” Rooster tells PEOPLE. Rooster, 54, is the father of two, including 2-year-old Miller Lyte (yes, as in the beer). “The other day I told him, ‘Don’t worry if other people want to hold him for that first year. That’s okay.’ Our dad always used to say that,” Rooster says. “Hell, you wanna wait until their neck muscles get stronger anyway. That’s when the fun starts. I like ‘em when they get a bit tougher. I told him, they don’t really get fun until they’re about a year old anyway.” Roughhousing aside, Rooster says he’s certain his little brother will be a good father. “That guy is going to make one helluva a dad,” he says.

Hahahhaha … oh man, what a fun family. Again, congrats to the happy new parents and much happiness for their burgeoning family. Welcome to the world, Levi Alves!!

OH YES — one more thing on an entirely different note, OK! magazine has announced that they will be revealing the first pics of Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge’s newborn baby girl Maddie Briann tomorrow! Woot!

Tony Romo Sings For Jessica Simpson

Apparently, Jess is Tony's Sweet Child 'O His
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Jessica Simpson got her birthday celebratin’ started early this year … even tho she doesn’t turn 28 until Thursday, she and boyfriend Tony Romo got the party started last night. Jessimo made their way around the LA area last night, winding things up at Key Club where Tony took to the stage to sing with the metal cover band Steel Panther (the band formerly known as Metal Skool) and serenaded Jessica with their rendition of the Guns ‘N Roses classic song Sweet Child ‘O Mine … here are a few pics from inside Key Club last night:

Jessica Simpson isn’t avoiding her 28th birthday on Thursday – she’s already started celebrating. The singer – joined by close friends and family – indulged in her favorite cupcake flavor, red velvet, from Crumbs bakery. For dinner, Jessica and on-again beau Tony Romo went to Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas, where they met up with her pregnant sister Ashlee and husband Pete Wentz. At one point, Ashlee and Jessica got on stage to sing with The Copycats, a cover band that was playing. The band serenaded Jessica with “Happy Birthday.” Following dinner, Jessica and Romo hit Key Club in West Hollywood to see Steel Panther (formerly known as Metal Skool). The Dallas Cowboys quarterback even tried his hand at singing the Guns n’ Roses hit “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to Jessica and the crowd.

Actress Vivica A. Fox, Rage Against the Machine singer Tom Morello and Hancock director Peter Berg were all also in the Key Club audience last night for Tony’s performance. It really sounds like things are back on track and in full swing for Jessimo. It takes a lot for a guy to get up on stage and embarrass himself in front of a bunch of people with crappy singing just to impress a girl (twice — he sang to her at Key Club back in January, too) … I guess it must be love … lucky for Papa Joe Simpson ;)

The Windows To Amy Winehouse’s Soul

... are really effing creepy
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Amy Winehouse spent part of her day today running around town taking care of biz … I understand that she actually attended a drug and alcohol session at a London rehab center before embarking on a mini-pub crawl with some friends shortly thereafter. Natch. Here are a few pics of Amy leaving her home earlier today on her way to the Stapleford Centre in South West London throwin’ around some deadly-ass stares to scare the paps away:

Yikes. It’s uncanny how even more crazed the woman can look when she really sets her mind to it. I shudder to think what could be going on behind those intense eyes. Yeah, this is the type of person you don’t want to run into in a dark alley … er, or anywhere else for that matter.

James McAvoy Does ‘Details’ Magazine

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Angelina Jolie’s most recent leading man, James McAvoy, is featured on the cover of the new issue of Details magazine … behold:

Except for his smoldering blue eyes, the cover photo is pretty unremarkable. In fact, the man doesn’t get as much attention as he should considering the films he’s been in thus far in his career. I liked Wanted and I expected to hear more about James’s starring role in the movie but when you’re paired up opposite Angelina Jolie, well, it’s hard for people to even know that you’re there. The most press I’ve read on the man came from his role in Atonement opposite Keira Knightley and yet I still remember him best as Mr. Tumnus, the half-goat man in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I’m not sure if Wanted is going to be enough to cement his leading man status but he gave it a good try. I hope he has more success in the future, I’d hate to see this one fade away.

Game, Set, Match ... Love?
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Kate Hudson and a shirted Lance Armstrong (who also appears to have gotten a haircut since last we saw him) were spotted enjoying a friendly game of doubles tennis earlier today in the Pacific Palisades here in LA … here are a few pics:

I’m not sure who was winning but my guess is that the score was Love All ;)

Robot Love

The TV Guide
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

First things first — I have to send out even more Birthday Lurve to my dear friend Diana who is celebrating her birthday today :) She is all the way on the other side of the country in Washington DC and even tho I can’t be with her today I want her to know that I love and miss her dearly. I hope she has a great birthday and I hope we are able to see one another very soon … perhaps she can come out for a visit (hint, hint)? In any event, much, much love goes out to Diana today :)

At long last, my friend Michael and I were finally able to get together for the movie outing that we’ve been planning for weeks. Before last night we had been unable to coordinate our schedules (to the point of ridiculousness) so last night we finally got our shizz straight and got together. Last night we watched WALL·E:

I know I should be beat over the head for my stubbornness but I initially discounted this movie as a throw-away and never really considered checking it out. Thanks to Michael’s insistence that I’d love it, I gave it a chance and TOTALLY fell in love with this insanely cute movie. WALL·E strikes me as a mix between E.T. and the robot Number 5 from the 80’s movie Short Circuit (I’d be shocked if WALL·E wasn’t at least partially modeled on Number 5) but way cuter. I never dreamed that a movie with very little speech would be so poignant and so entertaining. There is deffo an environmental message in this movie but it’s told with such sweetness and caring, I think it’s a brills way to entertain and enlighten all at the same time. I’m not even gonna front … I *almost* teared up at the end when “the kiss” takes place. The movie was directed by Andrew Stanton, who also directed Finding Nemo — the man deffo has a knack for using animated films to tell very poignant stories. I’m hearing buzz that WALL·E might even get nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards next year … which I think is a bit premature but I can see where those reports are coming from. If you’ve not seen this movie yet, I really suggest you check it out … take a date … it’s crazy cute and very entertaining. It’s deffo one of my fave movies of the year thus far.

After the movie, Michael and I grabbed a quick bite to eat and posed for a cheesy pic:

I am in desperate need of a haircut (hence the hat), which I plan to have taken care of later on this afternoon. I’m not sure what else is on my plate … I have to take care of a few things before David arrives tomorrow night … fun times ahead :)
