You’re The One That I ‘Wanted’
The TV Guide

Yesterday afternoon I got to spend some much needed time with Tracey and Zakiya for the first time in months. Poor Tracey has been laid up for the past 4 weeks after having gone thru shoulder surgery and she was really happy to have company. Princess Zakiya was just a complete doll … tho I am hugely disturbed by how fast she keeps growing. It wasn’t that long ago that she was barely crawling on the floor … these days, she’s barely riding Razor scooters — and she’s not even 3 years old yet! I’m telling you, my goddaughter is a GENIUS! Here are a few pics of Z playing with the Hulk Hands that I got for her:

I’m of the mind that there are no such things as boys toys and girls toys … and despite the fact that she has no idea who The Incredible Hulk is, I knew she’d love the Hulk Hands. We got to spend a few fun hours together … I’m really looking forward to Tracey’s full recovery … the poor woman has been cooped up for so long, I’m afraid she’s on the verge of turning into a crazy cat lady, minus the cats.

After my playdate with Tracey and Zakiya I met up with Sarah for a late night showing of Angelina Jolie‘s new movie Wanted:

Right off the bat, I have to stress that Russian director Timur Bekmambetov is a genius. He is so inventive and he has a really imaginative way of telling a story on screen. That being said, I didn’t really like Wanted as much as I loved his Russian films Night Watch and Day Watch. Wanted felt a bit like a watered down version of his vision and those of you who have seen his previous work prolly understand what I mean. That is not to say that Wanted is a bad or sub-standard film but having seen his previous work, Wanted left me wanting more. But what was presented as really effing cool. I’ve read a few reviews that liken the amazingness of the film to that of The Matrix when it first came out and I can totally see the connection … my response would be, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Trust me, if you liked Wanted, go out and pick up Night Watch and Day Watch and you will be blown away. All the cool stuff in Wanted shows up in these films but amped to the Nth degree. I wasn’t too thrilled with the ending but I did love the film. It’s visually very cool and the special effects are just impeccable. Action film fans will love it, I’m sure. I understand that Bekmambetov is working on the 3rd movie of the Night Watch trilogy, Twilight Watch … I really can’t wait to see that one. Sure, they’ll be a lot of subtitles to read but I’m telling you, his movies are mind-blowing.

Tonight, I’m meeting up with my friend Sherri and her childrens for a quick tete-a-tete before I head over to Sarah’s place for a little dinnerparty/sleep-over jamboree. Tara and Megan will be hanging out too … should be fun. It’s my last full day in Detroit, I fly back to LA tomorrow … I need some beach.

I love love love that you don’t beliebe in boys and girls toys… the world needs more poeple like you promoting ‘gender equality’…… even if its indirectly =), besides, people should be allowed to do, wear, play with what they want =) Princess Z is adorable… what a little cutie!
