Seeing ‘The Love Guru’ Fosters Bad Karma
Last night I met up with Steph and Alek for a quiet night at the movies (since it’s so darn hot around here we wanted to do something air conditioned) and we decided to see The Love Guru. Steph and I had such a good time watching You Don’t Mess with the Zohan on Thursday night that we were looking forward to enjoying more hilarity last night … unfortch, there was no hilarity to be had in The Love Guru:

As you can imagine, all of the funniest parts were shown in the trailers and TV commercials … there was nothing funny left for the actual movie. The jokes were extremely tired and overused. I can’t believe that Mike Meyers is still trying to make a career out of potty jokes. I’m not sure what I expected from this movie but I was disappointed that I came away from the theater totally empty-handed. There wasn’t a single strong comedic performance from anyone. Justin Timberlake was simply horrible. Not only was he not funny by any stretch of the imagination but his sad attempt at a French-Canadian accent was totally pitiful and laughable … not in a good way. Jessica Alba and Megan Good booth looked amazing … and the songs were kinda funny but the whole movie just sucks a fat one. I will say that the faux Bollywood scenes were cute but not nearly good enough to save this stupid movie. I haven’t been this disappointed in a comedy in a long time. I kept trying to laugh, kept trying to have a good time but it was just so bad … I’m sorry, I cannot recommend it to anyone. Go see Zohan instead, that movie has some actual funny parts in it.
After the movie, we were hungry for something palatable … so we went to Birds for a late dinner. After we had sufficiently feasted, we met up with Mike for a quick drink at the Cat and the Fiddle to finish out the night.
Today, I’ve got work and packing to take care of … then dinner plans with Mike later on tonight. I have an early flight to NYC tomorrow so I gots stuff to take care of. I’m sure I won’t mind staying out of the 100+ degree weather today ;) Stay cool, y’all!!

I thought this segment was very rude and not needed. I am Canadian myself and maybe you Americans don’t understand the humor cause its mostly about Canada. I am extremely offended about this piece. Maybe you should get your head out of the toilet and get a real job.

Katie, I agree. Mike Meyers may be making a career out of potty jokes, but so is PEREZ HILTON. For shame.

I’m just surprised people would actually GO to this movie, thinking “hey, this might be good – let’s go!”
I mean, come on…any movie that has to resort to MIDGET HUMOR, and use that IN THE TRAILER as a supposed mechanisim to “hook” an audience into going to the movie – is OBVIOUSLY going to be BAD!! It’s a stupid GAG humor – if you can even call it humor – and it’s pathetic that studios make this type of shit product assuming that audiences are really that dumb and couldn’t possibly appreciate INTELLIGENT comedy that ACTUALLY makes you laugh.
