Fine And Dandy

Emile Hirsch goes Into the 'Wilde'
Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Emile Hirsch, star of Into the Wild and Speed Racer, is spending some time in Paris, France these days … clearly doing his best to channel his inner Oscar Wilde. Here are a couple pics of the dandy-looking Emile with a female friend as they made their way thru Place Vendome on Friday:

Now, I’m not sure if Emile is trying to “get into character” or if he’s just a really misguided dresser but this is not a good look for him. To tell the truth, I don’t even think Oscar Wilde could pull it off properly. Thank Gawd Emile opted out of wearing the matching satin cape cuz then, well, he would have to be killed. I suppose he deserves snaps for taking such a bold fashion risk. I think he missed the mark completely but good on him for giving it a go.

Britney Spears Says ‘Yes, SUR’

Or maybe, 'You've been SURved?'
Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Here are a few photos of Britney Spears making her exit from SUR restaurant in LA this past Friday night with only her personal assistant Brett and her bodyguard in tow:

Not only does Britters look damn good (tho possibly annoyed) in these pics but you’ll note that she’s out on the town without her father and conservator Jamie Spears to supervise. This is another good sign that Britney is getting her life back on track. I understand she had a difficult week regarding custody of her children Sean Preston and Jayden James. After she managed to win back overnight visits with her sons in court, she met up with ex-hubby Kevin Federline in private to try and hammer out an agreement where she would be able to enjoy more physical custody of her kids. I understand he won’t budge so they’re gonna have to fight the matter out in court later on this summer. Incidentally, K-Fed jetted off to Miami this weekend to party with his boys, leaving the kids at home with the nannies. It would’ve been really great if he would’ve left the kids with Britney but … ah well. I hope she’ll be able to spend more time with her kids again very soon, she’s worked hard getting her life back in order. More time with the kids would be a great reward for her.

Pleading The ‘Fifth’

The TV Guide
Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Last night was my first full night out on the town here in Detroit so I met up with Tara at Sarah and Mark’s place and we all made our way out to Royal Oak, MI for a sumptuous dinner at Little Tree. Because we all were ravenously hungry, we ordered a bit too much sushi for the table … and, strangely enough, that didn’t stop us from eating pretty much all of it. After we had fully supped on the delish treats at Little Tree, we made our way over to Fifth Avenue to celebrate with our friend Reggie for his birthday. In celebration, Reggie Smith and the After Party played a 3 set show upstairs at Fifth Avenue and had the place rockin’ out. Here are a few pics from last night’s fun:

You know, there may have been a whole lotta bad shoes in that place last night but everyone was having a blast. It was really nice hanging out with Sarah, Tara and Mark last night … it felt like the good ol’ days. Our night hit a bit of a snag when we returned to my parent’s Navigator and found the battery completely dead. Someone, who shall remain nameless, left the headlights on and killed the battery. So because Mark accidentally killed the car, we adeptly figured out (with his friend Joe) how to get it up and running again. There were cables and sparks and a bit of cursing but they got the job done in pretty good time.

This afternoon, I’m off to hang out with Tracey and Zakiya … not sure what we’re doing but maybe some shopping? Maybe a movie? The sky’s the limit ;) It’ll be great to see them both … it’s been far too long.

Hot Dude Of The Week: Josh

Weekend Hotness
Sunday, June 29th, 2008

It is that joyous time of the week where we take the time to gawk and gander at the Hot Dude of the Week. This week, we get to enjoy a nice and beefy photo of Hot Dude Josh who is happily showin’ off that one doesn’t have to be an international soccer celebrity to fill out a pair of white undies very nicely:

See … not that I’ve been spending all that much time pontificating the proportions and various attributes of bulges (no matter what you *may* think after reading this next bit) but you will note that there is clear … definition … in the bulge seen in this photo of Josh rather than the bulge seen in, say, the David Beckham Armani Underwear photos. This, my good people, is an untouched or digitally manipulated bulge … one that needs to be physically touched — and hopefully by me. Ok, I’m just kidding … kinda … but I think it’s easy for one to appreciate the natural, un-enhanced majesty of a regular ol’ bulge on a regular ol’ hawt guy like Josh. And, at last, I think I’ve finally met my “bulge quota” for the rest of the year … that is, unless and until that promised 5th and final Becks pic ever surfaces. Enjoy!

‘True’ Calling

Cyndi Lauper gets 'Colorful' in LA
Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Here are a few pics from Cyndi Lauper’s headlining set at the True Colors Tour concert stop at the Greek Theater in LA last night:

I just love Cyndi … Kirsten, Darion and Josh attended last night’s show at the Greek and they sent me a really cute cameraphone photo of them at the show. I was supposed to attend last night’s show as well but I hadn’t anticipated my trip to Detroit being on the same weekend. A bunch of us attended the True Colors Concert last year (during it’s inaugural run) and we had a blast. Even tho I wasn’t able to attend last night, I still wanted to post some pics of the lovely Ms. Cyndi to show my love.

‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’ Premieres

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

As part of the 2008 Film Independant’s Los Angeles Film Festival, Hellboy II: The Golden Army (which was directed by movie genius Guillermo del Toro) had its Hollywood premiere at the Mann Village Westwood theater in Westwood, CA yesterday afternoon. Here are a few pics of the principal stars along with their amazing director on the red carpet at yesterday’s premiere:

I think it’s very safe to say that Guillermo del Toro is prolly one of, if not the, most talented and inventive movie directors on the scene right now (tho, Russian director Timur Bekmambetov who made the phenomenal movies Night Watch, Day Watch and the new Angelina Jolie movie Wanted [which opened in theaters this weekend] has to be high on that list as well) and has proven himself so fully to me that I will absolutely make time to see every movie he directs. I was very impressed with his direction in Hellboy but it was his Spanish-language film Pan’s Labyrinth that really sold me. To me, he is the Neil Gaiman (author of Neverwhere, Stardust, American Gods and more) of movie-making … and by that I mean, an insanely talented artist who has yet to break into the mainstream (I’m not even saying that it is necessary that either of them break into the mainstream, I’m just saying that they are so good at what they do that I truly feel that once people catch wind of their talent they may blow up big time). I’m not a huge Hellboy fan but I just love seeing del Toro’s imagination come alive on the big screen (and from what I’ve seen in the promos for Hellboy II, some of the influence of Pan’s Labyrinth looks like it made its way into the film). According to IMDB, he has also signed on to direct The Hobbit, which just thrills me to no end. Hellboy II doesn’t open in theaters until July 11 (the eve of my birthday) but I’m telling you … make plans to check it out. I’m sure it’ll be visually phenomenal … I’m totally willing to bank on that.
