Mary-Kate Olsen Dishes On Spencer Pratt

Shares her fond high school memories with David Letterman
Friday, June 27th, 2008

Mary-Kate Olsen stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman last night to do some promo work for her new 90’s nostalgic movie The Wackness and talked about various things …. from her new movie (which involved kissing scenes with Ben Kingsley) to her advice for Young Hollywood to her former school friend Spencer Pratt — yes, the Spencer Pratt from The Hills. MK had some interesting things to say about the lad she claims she was not friends with (David Letterman asked her point blank if they were friends at the time and she replied “No”) and yet the couple were photographed partying together back in the day:

They were classmates at a posh L.A. high school – and Mary-Kate Olsen doesn’t have fond memories of Spencer Pratt. “He does not have a good temper,” Olsen, 22, told David Letterman, during an appearance to promote her film The Wackness … “He used to play on the soccer team … (and) he walked out of a few games. He would walk off the field.” When Letterman pressed her for more stories on The Hills’s 24-year-old villain (whom Letterman called “wormy” and “oily”), Olsen just giggled and said, “The Wackness is a great film!” As for the rest of young Hollywood, Olsen simply advised: “Wear underwear! Wear your panties.”

The interview is interesting to watch, Mary-Kate seems regretful that she even started talking about Spencer in a negative way in the first place because she remained mum on spilling any further deets the more that David Letterman pressed her. After the jump, check out video of MK’s interview with Letterman

Don’t Have A Cow, Prince Harry

Okay, on second thought go ahead and have just one
Friday, June 27th, 2008

Prince Harry learned this week that his princely duties are never done as he paid a visit to The Royal Norfolk County Show in Norwich, UK this week to survey the agricultural showcases that were on display at this year’s event. See, being a prince isn’t only about playing army in Afghanistan or hanging out on the polo fields … there’s also this type of important work to be had as well:

The shrieks of excited girls shattered the peace and country quiet of the Royal Norfolk agricultural show today as Harry-mania hit Norwich. The young royal was mobbed by hoards of adoring fans as he toured the agricultural showground at Costessey, Norfolk. Groups of teenage girls, children and other members of the public, all wielding cameras, fought to get close to the Prince, shouting “Harry” and asking each other “Did you see him?” More than one young girl was heard to remark: “He’s so fit.” Harry arrived at the show in a black Range Rover to cheers and applause from the waiting crowd. He was at the event to mark the centenary of the granting of the Royal Charter to the show’s organiser, the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association. He was met this morning by dignitaries and supporters of the show, including this year’s president, head of the British Army Sir Richard Dannatt. It was Sir Richard who gave the go-ahead for Harry to deploy to Afghanistan earlier this year. The Prince’s first stop this morning was the cattle buildings where he stopped off to look at examples of the Holstein and Jersey breeds. He then made his way outside where he stopped to talk to 14-year-old Robert Crawford, who is showing his Ayrshire cattle. He introduced Harry to one of his prized specimens, Marshview Marie. Robert said: “He was asking me what they judge the cattle on and I told him they’re looking at the udders and the body.” Robert’s answer prompted the Prince to take a closer look at the cow’s udders before remarking: “It’s very clean.” Accompanied every step of the way by scores of excited fans, a cool-headed Harry remained fixed on the task in hand and, after stopping to talk to a couple more farmers, he headed into the food hall where jam-maker Essence Foods presented the Prince with a selection of jam which had been hand-made in Norfolk. At a tomato stall a reluctant Harry was convinced to taste a cherry tomato which he pronounced “good”. He seemed more keen on a fish dip offered to him at a stall named The Joy of Food, grinning as he tried it. Harry made his way through the throng of people, chatting to show chairman Sir Nicholas Bacon. In the woodland area the Prince tried his hand at lathe turning. He was shown how to pedal the machine and use a chisel to make a garden dibber for planting by toolmaker Lois Beakhouse, 40, from Malvern, Worcestershire. With everyone watching, the Prince was heard to comment: “I think they’re waiting for me to make a mistake.” Ms Beakhouse said: “He was very interested in it. He genuinely seemed to enjoy it.”

Aww … how cute. I’m fairly certain that Prince Harry wasn’t all that interested in the stuff going on at the county fair but like a good prince, he faithfully went thru the motions. See, lest you think that being a member of the Royal family is all fun and games, Harry shows us that there is some hard work involved as well. I bet it’s hell scraping the cow pies off the bottom of your patent leather wingtip shoes.

Lourdes And Carlos Leon Take To The Streets

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Yesterday we saw pics of Lourdes Ciconne Leon (first born child of Madonna) enjoying a nice afternoon in Central Park here in NYC with her little brothers Rocco and David Banda and today we get pics of Miss Lola lookin’ totes fabulous as she took to the streets of NYC earlier this week with her father Carlos Leon … behold:

While I can still see shades of Avril Lavigne’s influence in this outfit, I gotta admit that the little girl does have decent taste in fashion. The knee-high socks are cute and that headband thing around her forehead is pretty popular these days (it’s just about to break into the mainstream I think, meaning that it’s almost over already). I seriously doubt that she has handlers helping her dress, especially at her age and deffo when she stays with her father. Mother Madge may offer some help with her dress when she’s at home (then again, Lola may not solicit help from even her mother) but I tend to believe that all the fashion choices we see in this little stylista are all her own. I imagine that Lourdes doesn’t want for anything fierce or fabulous to wear so it’s prolly easy for her to pull together a nice little ensemble … even still, she’s doing a pretty good job so far for being an 11 year old.

Have You Met ‘The Filthy Youth’?

How about their semi-famous lead singer?
Friday, June 27th, 2008

Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick (who plays the luminous Chuck Bass, the baddest boy on the Upper East Side of Manhattan) apparently moonlights as a singer in a band called The Filthy Youth. In between shooting new scenes for the upcoming second season of GG, Ed and The Filthy Youth (band members include Benny Lewis, Jimmy Wright, Tom Bastiani and John Vooght) played a concert at Santos’ Party House here in NYC earlier this week … here are a few pics:

It appears that the band has been in existence for some time now and they have a Brit punk round sound (think The Libertines). You can hear some of the band’s music at their official My Space profile and you can click HERE to watch video of a live performance of the song The Confidence (which was filmed this past February). I kinda like their sound … it’s a bit raw and staccato sounding. I’m not always a fan of actors who front bands but I think Ed can pull it off. I’d be interested to see if anything of substance happens for The Filthy Youth … might we even seen an album someday? Well, if the whole Gossip Girl thing doesn’t work out it might not be a bad idea to have a Plan B.

The ‘Gossip’ Gang Takes A Vacay

Well, not really ... they're actually working but it doesn't look so rough
Friday, June 27th, 2008

While many young folks are getting their summer vacations underway, the Gossip Girl gang are starting to get back to work. Last week, we saw pics of the kids on location in the Hamptons here in New York (mostly hanging out backstage on set) and today we get to see pics of the kids on location in Port Washington, NY and shooting scenes at a beach in Far Rockaway, NY … check ‘em out:

I really love the summer looks that the gang is wearing. Leighton Meester looks really great in her summery frock. Ed Westwick’s ensemble is fab, as usual. I just love the styling on this show … they do a really good job of dressing the characters exactly the way you’d imagine they’d dress in real life. The gang haven’t been bizzy just filming their dramatic scenes in Port Washington … they’ve also been doing some work in Far Rockaway cuz everyone knows that the beach is the place to be come summertime. More pics after the jump …

We’re A Happy Family

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Here are a few sickeningly adorable photos of mommy Maggie Gyllenhaal, daddy Peter Sarsgaard and their daughter Ramona out for a little stroll earlier this week in Venice, CA. Clearly, Ramona is having the time of her life as she rides atop her daddy’s shoulders:

Seriously, these are the cutest pics ever. Ramona, who will be 2 years old this October, has gotten so big! I’m just shocked at how fast these little celeb babies grow up. She looks relatively well-adjusted … well, for a 1 1/2 year old. Anyways, Maggie will be starring as Rachel Dawes in the upcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight (taking over for Katie Holmes who originated the role in Batman Begins) so we can expect to see her on the promo circuit and on red carpets all over the place very soon. It’s nice that she’s able to spend this time with her family before the promo whirlwind kicks into gear. Oh, happy day!

David Beckham ‘Amazed’ By His Own Hugeness

I feel I must concur
Friday, June 27th, 2008

David Beckham posted a new blog yesterday on his official website, DavidBeckham.com, wherein he talks about his new Armani Underwear photos and how “amazed” he is not only by the hugeness of the newly unveiled billboard in San Francisco, CA but also by the number of people who came out witness the unveiling. Awww … such humbleness … especially coming from a guy who is so willing to show off his bulge on massive billboards and in countless magazines all around the world. Here is the full text of Becks’s latest blog:

Hi everyone,

Well I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures but last week I went to San Francisco to see the unveiling of the new Emporio Armani campaign I shot a while back. To be honest I was amazed by the huge billboard poster outside Macy’s department store, but even more amazed by the amount of people who turned up to see it! I’m always surprised by the amount of attention certain things create, but the attention this campaign has created is pretty incredible. It was great to meet some of the people who’d come out especially though, I’ve always wanted to visit San Francisco, so it was a great to finally get there … Moving onto the football – Saturday’s game was a bit of a disappointment to say the least. We were 2-0 up and playing at home, so we should have closed out the game, but credit to Columbus Crew, they came back at us and forced a draw. We did get a point, but it feels like a loss to be honest. We need to make our stadium a fortress and win our games there and not give anything away, not just in defence, but also from the forwards and the midfield. At the moment it’s just the consistency, it’s all about finishing off teams and holding onto leads. Sometimes it just needs a bit of calmness. It’s all a learning process and we will get better, it’s just about getting the mix right.

That’s all for now

David

I love how Becks can write about his new underwear ad campaign and then so seamless change topics and start talking about soccer. That’s a pro, right there. I wish I could believe that David Beckham was really sitting at his computer writing out these blogposts but I just can’t really see it happening. At best, he may dictate a few things that get blogged for him but in the end, he puts his name on it and I guess that’s good enough. Becks doesn’t blog nearly as much as he should … clearly he’s too bizzy traipsing around the globe, playing soccer, posing for undie pics, chillin’ with his family. Pshaw! More blogs Becks! Tell whoever it is that writes them for you to write more often ;)
