Marc Malkin of E! News is reporting that Chris Brown‘s mother, Joyce Hawkins, may have inadvertently spilled the beans and confirmed that her son and his long-rumored paramour Rihanna are, in fact, romantically involved (despite countless denials from the couple, who maintain that they are “just friends”). Even tho there are many photos of Rihanna and Chris engaged in various romantic embraces and poses (like this photo of pair cuddling at VIP Club in Paris earlier this year), this is the first time that an intimate member of their inner circle has confirmed their relationship:

Rihanna’s got mom’s seal of approval. The hitmaking beauty made a trip to GBK Productions’ Fire & Ice gifting lounge for the BET Awards over the weekend with her boyfriend, fellow music hotshot Chris Brown and his mom, Joyce Hawkins. Hawkins, according to a source, was overheard cooing, “Rihanna is the sexiest and sweetest girl Chris has ever dated.” And for once, the superprivate lovebirds weren’t so private during their hour-or-so-long visit to the lounge. “They came through holding hands and kissing each other on the neck,” says the source.

Honestly, I don’t even know what the big deal is. It’s obvs to everyone that the couple are dating and all their refutations to the contrary are kinda … gross. Chris Brown told MTV News that he and Rihanna are “best friends” as close as “brother and sister” and that they have “the worst luck with pictures” — pictures that constantly show them kissing, hugging and nuzzling one another. Management for the couple prolly insist that they do not confirm their relationship so that each artist appears “available” to their fanbases. I’d be surprised if any of their fans really believed that they aren’t romantically involved. I think I’m gonna believe Chris‘s mama and go with the fact that they are dating. The end.

Madonna, her children Lourdes, Rocco and newly adopted David Banda along with her manager Guy Oseary were spotted at the New York Yankees vs. Cincinnati Reds game at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx here in NYC this past Sunday where the family (sans hubby Guy Ritchie) cheered the Yanks on to a 4-1 victory. It’s curious that Guy Ritchie wasn’t present at this family outing but he rarely accompanies his wife and children to the US whenever she travels Stateside so … he must’ve been bizzy with work obligations or something. Anyways, these are really cute pics … it’s always great to see Maddy out with the kiddies. I’m not entirely sure but I believe that this was David Banda‘s first baseball game and it looks like he had a great time. You will note that Lola is not wearing the lip ring that she was sporting at a recent Avril Lavigne concert which prolly means it was a fake. Little Rocco is just as cute as can be. He is the perfect miniature version of his father so at least Guy Ritchie could be at the game in spirit. It looks like family fun was had by all!

Paris Hilton has taken to the blogosphere to refute reports that she tried to buy a puppy to use in a photoshoot from a pet store on Melrose Ave. in LA last week (only to be denied by the pet store who believed the purchase was an “impulse buy”) and writes that no such incident ever occurred. Furthermore, Paris goes on to explain how much she cares for her numerous pets … and manages to throw in a plug for her new MTV competitive reality TV show I Wanna Be Paris’s New Best Friend!. Hi guys, hope you all had a great weekend! I just shot the finale for my BFF show and I can’t wait for you all to see it … I’ll let you all know when it premieres, it’s going to be amazing and everyone did such an incredible job.

I wanted to let you know that I’ve been getting messages and reading stories about an incident that supposedly happened with me and a pet store: I was catching up on news last week only to read a story about me walking by some puppies for sale, and demanding that I be given a Yorkie puppy to be an accessory for a photo shoot. These stories have gotten out of control and I want to clear some things up-

I wasn’t looking for a new pet, I wasn’t even at a photo shoot that day, (I was down the street at Benji’s DCMA clothing store) and I actually have a Yorkie puppy. I love animals and the cruel things people say are not acceptable. Puppies are not accessories or toys and I love my own pets dearly — I treat them as if they were my children. Of course I support pet adoption from shelters, and I made sure that my BFF show involved a local one to spread the word about how these animals need loving owners. So it is sad that someone felt the need to invent a story about me throwing a fit for a dog that would “go with my outfit.”

I have no idea where people come up with these stories and they are spreading to so many news outlets that I just have to speak my mind and clear things up, especially with my fans. I love you all and appreciate your messages, as always.

Well, I’m glad she straightened all of that up. On the real, I never really believed this piece of goss when it first came out last week. While I don’t necessarily disbelieve that employees at a pet store would deny Paris Hilton the purchase of a pooch, I find it highly unlikely that Paris would let any such denial keep her from procuring the pooch in question. Basically, Paris Hilton gets what Paris Hilton wants. That said, I am heartened that Paris would so publicly proclaim her penchant for serious puppy care (since she has so many of them) and would like to take her statements at face value. As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m impressed that Paris has cleaned up her act in recent months (after starting up her latest relationship with Benji Madden of Good Charlotte) and am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Call me crazy but I do believe that people can change. Paris may not have changed her ways after serving her jail sentence last summer but, thus far, it looks like Benji‘s lurve has been a good influence on her. I just hope she stays a good girl.

Lynne Spears was spotted filling up her car at a gas station in Hammond, LA after dropping her son Bryan Spears off at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport this past Sunday afternoon. When pressed by the photogs for information on Lynne‘s newest grandchild, Maddie Briann (who was born to Lynne‘s youngest child Jamie Lynn Spears on June 19), Lynne stayed completely silent, not offering a single word in response:

Obvs Lynne Spears is not going to give away any of the details that she pre-sold to OK! magazine for $1 million bucks so I understand her silence. It is yet unclear just how long we will have to wait before that OK! issue with the first pics of Maddie Briann is released. If OK! was smart then they would’ve built a timeline into the agreement with Mama Lynne Spears (ie. the photos would have to be taken within weeks of the baby’s birth), if Mama Lynne was smarter than the deal was left open-ended and the photos wouldn’t have to be shot on anyone’s schedule other than Jamie Lynn‘s. Isn’t the business of selling your grandchildren’s photos a tricky one? In any event, I understand that the entire Spears family is planning on remaining totally mum on any news regarding JL or Maddie Briann until the coverstory is released … we shall see how well they are able to keep quiet in the meantime.

Amy Winehouse was released from the hospital yesterday after spending nearly a week undergoing medical tests to find out the cause of her most recent fainting spell. After her father, Mitch Winehouse, revealed to The Sunday Mirror that his daughter was suffering from the early signs of emphysema (due to excessive smoking of “crack cocaine and cigarettes”), Amy was spotted upon release from the hospital with a cigarette in her mouth … natch. Additionally, Amy‘s spokespeople are trying to downplay the “emphysema” report, attempting to clarify that she is merely showing the signs of developing emphysema and does not yet have the disease (which is essentially what her father said in his interview):

Amy Winehouse was photographed smoking in London on Monday after her father Mitch revealed she is suffering from emphysema. “The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” Mitch told UK newspaper the Daily Mail. Winehouse, 24, was taken to the hospital last week for tests after she fainted at home in London. “With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up,” Mitch said. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 percent lung capacity.” If she doesn’t get treatment, she could need an oxygen mask to breathe, Mitch told the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile: A publicist for Winehouse later said he had misspoken “out of his concern for her.” “She is not diagnosed with full-blown emphysema, but instead has early signs of what could lead to emphysema,” Tracey Miller, her U.S.-based representative, told The Associated Press on Monday. In an interview published Sunday by the Daily Mail of London, Mitch Winehouse said that his daughter’s crack and cigarette smoking had led to early-stage emphysema, and that the singer had an irregular heartbeat. He said she had been warned that she will have to wear an oxygen mask unless she stops smoking drugs … However, in an interview later with BBC Radio 1, he appeared to downplay his dire statements, and said: “Amy really hasn’t got emphysema, there’s traces of emphysema. Obviously, if she doesn’t quit smoking, it’s going to get worse, like everyone else … with patience her lungs will recover completely.” He added that she was covered in nicotine patches and is “flourishing” in response to treatments … She is still scheduled to sing at a concert in London on Friday celebrating the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela and plans to take part in the Glastonbury music festival the following day. Mitch Winehouse said it would be good for his daughter to perform. “When she’s been inactive work-wise then that’s when the problems really start. The doctors have said that medically there isn’t any reason why she can’t do Glastonbury,” the paper quoted him as saying.

I’m just amazed. Amazed! I cannot for the life of me imagine a scenario where I was faced with the prospect of developing a disease that would hinder my BREATHING to the point where I couldn’t survive without an oxygen mask and still choose to engage in smoking cigarettes. It appears that nothing seems to phase Amy Winehouse in the least. She either will not or cannot put a stop to her dangerous vices in order to maintain her health. It’s so hard to feel sorry for a person who actively chooses to put her life in danger. It is very easy to feel sorry for the family that loves and still cares for her and want nothing more than for her to clean up her act. At what point will the story of Amy Winehouse end? I fear it won’t be a happy ending.
